Are we a worse team than last year! Shit yes! Has our team changed much. No it hasn't! In fact it's pretty much the same team!

And almost every player's form is well down on last year.

(C) Play kids as required, while going all out for wins and see where we end up. if it's 6.5 wins instead of 5.5 then so be it.

Yes...totally agree

btw - to all those who want us to 'tank' the season I say this...

Guarantee me that we'll pick absolute future champions and not duds aka. Waterhouse, Fraser etc, and you might sell me on the idea. One thing worse than finishing last is suffering the indignity that comes along with it for no benefit.

If you go back to the original post in this thread, in amongst his general pro-Synbad rant grrofunger said that people on this site still have their Wizard Cup Coloured glasses on.

You then posted that, on the basis of our Wizard Cup form, we should be able to win 11.5 games this season. You couldn't have proved his point more if you'd been trying.

The "we're better than his cause we were good in the Wizard Cup" line is a pet hate of mine. The "lets still try and win games" lobby should really refer to last season when trying to argue their case, cause at least those 10 wins were real.

And last year we were lucky in some close games. We could easily have won only 6 games for the season. And that is around what we are on track for this year. So the fact that the cattle didn't change drastically, and our early picks haven't played and probably won't be a force immediately.

So in hindsight it's not a huge surprise were we are, there were a few shit teams with coaches on the way out last year too.

Hopefully, players like Betts develop this year, and some of Blackwell, Russell and Hartlett warrant senior selection next year. Add a decent uncontracted player and we might start some gradual improvement. More pain for 2006 (maybe some slight improvement) and if we got some of our picks right last year than some decent improvement in 2007.

Put my vote for a dont play the kids vote... they needed a bit of a hand...

PS.. imagine in our position there are a few people that dont want to play kids and think our list is good enough that it doesnt need an injection of talent.....

Synbad,

The second option does not exclude the notion of playing the kids.

In my view it is possible to both play the kids, AND win.

Thats when they play against another team who is playing the kids with kids not as good as ours...

You wont win many with Simmo..aNd Russell..and Setanta... and Bentick... and anyone else you can sneak a game to.

Trust me you wont....

Too small.. too inexperienced.. etc

But you will fast track them and ultimately get the picks and bring in more kids.. hopefully even better.. leadership types.. winners.. and then the losses become slight losses.. then slight wins.. and as the group matures with GUNS... they start winning bigger and bigger.. and they taste blood and they want more....

Old rehashed players dont usually have all that.. theyre too busy trying to hold on to a contract..

let's make it interesting ...... instead of winning games lets draw 6 of the remaining 12. Still end up with 5.5 wins 8)

And miss out on the PP by 1/2 a game!

Get with the programme Navy One!

If we are going to miss out on the pick, make it by a few more games than 1/2

The boys can try as hard as they like, but halfway into the season, the signs don't look so good....

hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm 44 - 18 in favour of the Priority Picks

Just imagine who were gonna get.

Can't wait !!

Play to win , lets sneak into the finals , 7 , 8 or 9 wins will get us more members and tv coverage

This off season will be the most exciting for a long time - shed the baggage of ridiculous contracts and draft some goodies !
