With Gehrig retired I would not be in the least surprised if the Aints made a play for Fevs services...and for pick 9 and Sam Fisher they have a deal!

Anyone proposing to trade Fev should be rehearsing their arguments for tanking debate 2008.

We won't win more than 5 games without Fev, so it'll be tank time again. Don't say I didn't warn ya!!!!

Oh, and Dr. Sherrin - that trade would massively advantage the Saints. Are u serious??? Pick 9? Russel and Sam Fisher for Fev? No freaking way!

I agree would not be a good deal for us. Would require a better player and another 1st rounder at least.

IMHO any trade would have to involve a top 5 pick. Which means that a trade with the Saints would need to involve a third club - Richmond, the Dogs, Melbourne or Essendon*.

Pick 4, Pick 9 and a good player (S Fisher say) would be plenty for Fev. I'd take it. But I don't see it happening with the saints.

Didn't Pagan try to trade Fev to Richmond in 2005? :?

Fevola can scale greater heights so don't trade him:Denis Pagan

From the article...

Without even realising it, he can divide a group very quickly and I'm yet to encounter an individual who verbalises his thoughts as immediately as Brendan does.

This trait can bring him unstuck, as was the case this year upon learning that he had been overlooked as acting captain in favour of the less-experienced Jarrad Waite. Brendan's disappointment manifested itself in him telling the senior coach that he might not make himself available for the coming game!

As much as I admire all that is good in Brendan, he has caused me considerable angst at various times. The antics he served up in the round-13 match against Fremantle at Subiaco Oval were simply unacceptable. Most disappointing was that Brendan had nobody to blame but himself.

In the days leading up to this game, Brendan was noticeably flat, hence the decision to send him to Perth a day ahead of the main travelling party. Sadly, Brendan's idea of freshening up involved a Thursday night outing to play cards at Burswood Casino.

Sending Brendan away from the club to contemplate his immediate playing future certainly cost Carlton a possible victory against Melbourne the following week. Yet for the club's long-term benefit, no other course of action was possible.

Mind you, not everyone agreed with Brendan's one-game absence. One senior player told me in no uncertain terms that the sanction should have been longer. <-- our leadership group isnt that big

Some interesting bits in that article and settles some of the rumours/innuendo that surrounded various incidents throughout the season

If Fev stays - great, we have one of the best FF in the comp to lead our attack next year.

If Fev goes, it will only be because the likes of Rodney Eade really had to pull something out of their proverbial to save their own club and coaching career, so the deal would be of great benefit to us.

If Fev was traded, we would lose goals in the short term, but I am sure thatRatts, Icke, Swann, Pratt, etc are smart enough to realise that they would have to recruit some guys to make up for it, eg goal kicking midfielders, ruckman/forward, etc to spread the goals around.

We have kicked goals without Fev this year, so we just have to learn to do it consistently. Obviously that will take time.

We will win whichever way we go because it (the trade week) is all about business decisions in the modern day game.

when did we kick goals without fev? the only time wen we kick goals and fev didnt kick much was against the dogs and port and why was that, because fev got the best defender and often had two defenders on him, which allowed fisher, waite these guys to get the third or fourth defender and gave them less pressure. If you think we can win games without fev, and only fisher, waite, setanta and kennedy in the forward line, your kiddin yourself.

As usual Fevolution, you read what you wanna read and start shooting from the hip in defence of Fev.
Read the flowering post again, properly and try to analyse something for a change!
I said that those responsible for recruitment at the CFC would change their recruitment strategies to spread the load of goals IF Fev was traded.......

For Flower'e Sake!

lol settle buddy, no need to cry bout it

pot. kettle. black  - if there is anyone who cries about anything on this forum its you everytime there is a hint of criticism of fev. Love you passion but direct it at the club and look to the best interests of the club as a whole rather than focusing just on the one player.

Interesting. If Pagan feels he needs to come out in the media to get Fev's back I reckon Fev maybe in trouble. I know others won't see it that way, but that's my first impression.

Was thinking back to some of the games when Fev spat the dummy and was being a negative influence on our team. They tended to occur where Fev was frustrated by something. Whether it was a dubious umpiring decision or more telling, when he was being overlooked on a lead by a team mate and/or getting poor delivery. Does this mean that Fev is likely to get more frustrated in the future as the team gets better and we have more options to goal - hence his leads get ignored more (like was the case at times during this year)? Or will the improved delivery and efficiency of having a better team and structure in place (including more victories) keep Fev in a positive frame of mine?

At the end of the day, he is the most talented player at the club - a match winner - but unless he has his head right, he can be a liability.

Look were currently in the AD era... after Denis.
I cant wait for Denis to write an aRticle abut how unlucky he was with draft picks ......
Fev and many other players need to be udged with Ratts on the helm.

Denis had shithuse people management skills...

Funny that, I always found Dennis to be friendly, charming and very forthcoming in our discussions. Did notice though that he had little time for time wasters and idiots( of which Carlton has had in abundance of the last few years).

I cringe at the thought of what he could write every week -but if that wasn't the cutest damn article I've read.... I can just imagine Fev's 8 year old treating DP like a surrogate granddad....

I have no problem if that's the most negative article he writes... :)

And Russell can go with him he has no idea of what to do with the football. I only watched the last half but if Russell is our future we have got massive problems .Trade him if it is at all possible.

I agree. I have been impressed with all of our other youngsters but Russell just doesn't seem to have what it takes. Trade him only if we can get something of value.
