IMO it should be a choice between Jackson and Jamison to get promoted.

Much as I wouldn't mind promoting Jacobs I think it is more important to have a look at either Jackson and Jamison before next season unless their futures have already been decided. Problem is we only have one vacancy through a LTI.

Jacobs is a long term investment who will probably need another pre-season before he shows what he can do. I think Jackson would add to the midfield and partly make up for the loss of Walker whilst Jamison would allow Waite to play down forward.

Its more than that Pterg, its the selection of Teague and Sporn last year over Edwards (whose '06 form warranted it), the non-selection of Aisake, Grigg etc. until too late this year, the continued selection of Prenders, Sporn in '05 and '06 and the non-delisting of other stragglers. I know for a fact that Pagan had to be forced to play Bower, Smith and Jackson at the end of 2006.
I agree with the Prender and Sporn debacle (i.e - why??! And then, with the completion of the list, there were several no-game non-rookies as well), and wonder at the reason for Teague's downfall (see my comments on the David Teague discussion) ... It didn't seem to be a Pagan issue either - the good DP seemed to have made the same calls as well .. any thoughts (or do you need the names on this no-gamer list 1996-2000?)

Well he'd be a mega flowerin up grade over Ackland,... but I agree with Amazonstud. Jackson probably should get the call first. Should Ackland get the rest of the season to prove he's worth keeping? (Yeah I know he's got 2 more years, but flower, maybe he'll get delisted and payed out). :P

I may well be wrong but don't any Rookie elevations have to happen by Round 15?

Flower. I think I do remember hearing that too. Flower! At least Grigg might get a few more games.

This is the crux.
What are the rules? Ratts apparently was bemoaning the fact we can't promote jacobs or jamieson.
Why? Can anybody enlighten those ingnorant ones amongst us?

Elevations close at the commencement of Rd 18.

But the problem is that we don't have any spare spots.

Stevens replaced by Young
Cloke replaced by Jacko

Earlier in the year, Grigg was replaced by Jacko, but Jacko lost his spot when Grigg returned and needed to take Cloke's spot to return to the seniors.

TQ. It's not a technical reason, then, only that we need someone else on the LTI list before Rd 18.
Not likely now unless Wiggo's hammy is a 5 week injury.

Just put Andy Walker into surgery now and get on with promoting someone. Its worked for every other tanking team throughout PP history 8)

Well in the post match press conference Ratten did say the club wanted to play another rookie and were looking at ways they might be able to do that so it would come as no surprise if one of the players suddenly needs surgery.

I think we may have promoted the cut off point for promoting rookies, but Jackson playing yesterday has me confused. :?

I don't think there's a deadline on rookie promotion, I think there's a deadline on LTI listings.

What was the deal with the 'nominated' rookie? Thought you could nominate one rookie that could be played during the season without being promoted?

Had the feeling this was Jacko for us?

There are 3 prerequisites to having a nominated rookie:

1. You have to have 1 or 2 veterans on the veterans' list (and not on the primary list). Kouta is listed as a veteran, but is part of the primary list. If he were on the veterans' list, we'd have 39 on our senior list, and we don't.

2. You have to have 44 players in aggregate on the senior and rookie lists. We have 43, as we didn't fill our last rookie spot.

3. You have to list a player as a nominated rookie before Rd 1. We didn't.

It's been suggested that Ross Young was demoted back to the rookie list, so that we have the ability to promote 1 more rookie. Anyone know whether this is so?

I talked to someone who worked at a pre-game function on Saturday, and Ross Young told him he will not be playing any more games for the rest of the year, they want to assess the players who are yet to play. He didn't specifically say that he had been demoted back to the rookie list, just that he will not play again this year. Hope that helps.

Rumour on SEN has Kouta retiring today which could mean a rookie elevation can be completed?

Interesting - I was hoping they would do this before the season's end so we could all cheer him on for a last game rather than have it done at the end of the season. I note his injury of 'hip' is to be assessed - would be good for at least 1 more game from the Champ.

Kouta looked pretty devastated on Sat afternoon - I had the glasses on him a few times while he was on the bench and after the game.
