If Voss was to be the Blues word of one his main team players would be Craig Lamnbert would be Vossies right hand man and a career assistant Coach ideal to support Voss

will be interesting to see who gets the gig next year

Are you referring to Kinnear Beatson BB?

Yeah thats the guy my source said, Dee Dub. I had a bad line and didn't hear him very well, but that is what he said, well Beatson anyway. Is he current or former at the Brions? :?

He is former and was responsible for putting together the three peat Lions mate, would be a bad omen for WH I would suggest if true.

Worked with Scott Clayton (now Bulldogs) to assemble much of Brisbane's power team. Had a brief stint Adelaide (after he was 'let go' by Brisbane following a difference of philosophy), and then moved to Sydney, where he is currently Player Acquisition Manager.

According to that article, he joined Sydney AFTER last Novmeber's draft. It would be difficult to see him leaving Sydney before this November's draft.

From the same article...

Quote:
Lions football manager Graeme Allan has been building his club's recruiting network for a year. The Lions, who have three full-timers in Brisbane and part-timers in other states, aren't finished yet.

We have much work to do.

Board wants Ratts to do it but he's worried how it will impact on his chances of a full-time gig, which brings Bradley into the equation.

Kinnear Beatson was at Carlton in the late 80's, IIRC. When Robert Walls was there circa 86-89?

If he were to join Carlton, it would be after this years' National Draft - all the intellectual property & homework he's done at Sydney would not be lost after a full season.

This could be Wayne Hughes last draft perhaps?

From where I stand, I hope so (though that would depend on how much input pagan had into focusing on tall athletic players over footballers with our early picks

I just heard about a very animated conversation going on between Sticks and Swannie. The only thing audible was Sticks saying in a very loud voice: "Ratts". A lot of finger pointing and raised voices were the order of the day. Seems like the kiddies are drawing lines in the sandbox.

Our best guess is that Sticks is pushing Ratts' barrow and Swannie is pushing the McKenna or Voss case. Who will prevail? ;-)

Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of " Get Rooted" ... "No, You Get Rooted"

Just heard that Sticks is wandering around like King Kong, saying "I told ya so!" (About Voss I guess)

He has got a fight on his hands now against Swannie who I am lead to believe still fancies Bluey.

I reckon that Ratts odds were halved today. Barring a disaster in the next few weeks, he should get the gig!

The last person who should be involved in this decision/process is Stephen Kernahan. As great a player he was, he is equally inept as a an administrator. His finger prints are all over some of the worst decisions made in the history of the club.

Having snared Swan from Collingwood we should allow him to carry out his role effectively without interference from an amateur administrator. Sticks should be retained on the board but removed from his role as Director of Football and let the professionals get on with rectifying the mess he has played a large part in creating.

Aplogies, I should have added, that I have no issue with Ratten being appointed as coach. In fact all I am asking is that we actually make a considered and logical decision. Not one based on the fact that the successful candidiate is a "good bloke" as assessed by our Director of Football.

In regards to the MC, unfortunately Sticks is the elephant in the room that everyone is ignoring. :?

Sticks seems to have imposed his will. Apparently McKenna and Bond are both being interviewed prior to Wednesday. As soon as that formality is out of the way, then Ratts will get the gig for 3 years. The logic behind this is that with the job secured, then he can concentrate on 2008. The instruction will be to rest anybody slightly injured and anybody moreso to be booked into surgery ending their seasons. Simply play all the fringe kids and duds for the remaining rounds. Round 22 will see us with Teague, McLaren, Raso, Hampson, Flint, Young, Benjamin, Austin etc. lining up in the ones.

We couldn't possibly beat the Dees with half a reserves side, could we?
You can take it to the bank that there will be some strange matchups if we enter r22 on 4 wins.

If Ratts gets the nod earlier than expected, then he is secure and will want the best possible list for 2008 and beyond.

My mail is that #7 could be appointed this week, maybe as early as Wednesday, but probably a Press Conference called on Thursday. ;-)

Heard an interesting snippet about Pago Pago. He not only endorsed Ratts for the role, but said that his training drills are some of the best he had seen from a AC in years. He also said that Ratts had enormous respect from the players. He will be the first to congratulate him if appointed.

I heard about a big play by the Bulldogs to get Fev, no matter what it takes. They are currently talking to Sticky Ickey about a first round draft pick plus a quality midfielder. I hear that WC are prepared to lose Hurn, Rosa or Glass plus a pick, but the Dogs should have more currency. Be prepared for a bidding war, particularly if another club enters the fray. We could demand and get 2 first rounders plus a good player or 1 first rounder plus 2 good players.

This all adds up to something like Picks: 1, 3 or 4, 8, 11, 20, 36 plus a Hurn or Hahn or Glass.

Watch this space!

The Eagles wouldn't let Glass go.

Mark Seaby is out of contract at seasons end and apparently (according to the WA media) both us and Richmond are keen on him. In addition to this the Eagles may have trouble fitting him under their salary cap if Judd stays. On the other hand he is from WA and would probably be reluctant to leave.

IMO a suitable trade for Fev to the Eagles would be for Rosa and Seaby in return.
