Don't underestimate Roos.

He's not Pagan - I'm sure he has more than one game plan.

Maybe the "going home factor" is a consideration in returning to Melbourne.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but Don Pyke would be an excellent candidate. Assistant to Neil Craig the last few years and has a background in sports science I believe. Also his father Jim ran the VIS for awhile so I'm sure he's got all the best contacts in health and fitness.

In '05 I when I was living in Sydney I went to a Crows/Swans game (no Carlton games in Sydney that year). The Swans lost, and after the game I met up with some friends at one of the bars around Fox Studios (next to the SCG for those not acquainted with the Paddington area). An hour after the game in walks Roosy, Horse Longmire and Ross Lyon. Sat down, quiet drink and discussed the game I would have guessed. Roos' calm nature really struck me - they went on to win the flag.

Could he do that in Melbourne? Could you imagine if Pagan and the assts went out for a quiet drink in Richmond after a loss? That's the biggest drawcard for staying in Sydney, not to mention the beaches. But Roos is the best and we'd need to appeal to his ego - I reckon Dick's got a few aces up his sleeve there.

2. RATTEN
3. LONGMUIR
4. McKENNA
5. VOSS

One big tick for Voss thinking about it is thatwhen Voss started at Brissie (Bears) before they became the Lions he would have endured a period when Brisbane where considered to be the worst football team in the competition suffering many heavy losses and the laughing stock of the AFL.

That same team 6 years from 1995 would then become the power house of the AFL with there 3 year Premiership team.

He would have a great insight of the struggles of a club at there lowest in 1995 and the experience of how it changed and evolved into the powerhouse of 2001.

This is not far removed to the Blues who are very much the Brisbane of 1995 so what better candidate to understand the current low of the Blues and be able to install what is required to change the fortunes of the young list. he would fully understand what our young list has endured and would definately be able to assist the young players to see that fortunes can change very quickly.

The more i think of this the more Voss would be the ideal candidate with the right team behind him

Just heard Greg Denham on SEN say Voss is a certainty for the senior role at Carlton.Sounded as if he knew something solid.

Other than rumour and innuendo is there really any evidence that Pagan will be removed? There's been nothing but support for him by the decision makers at the club. I'd hate to think that the club would keep him around next season. This would be devastating believe me ...to all concerned. Supporters and players alike.

Plenty of "support" from the club for Pagan to the media.

Maybe not in the inner sanctum.

Better to play cards close to your chest and not cause a feeding frenzy.

If Voss is secured but can't get involved until the end of the season, then may as well let Pagan coach it out until then.

If history repeats itself, I say elect Michael Voss.

The thought of Michael Voss (carlton coach) & Nathan Buckley (magpie coach) continuing their rivalry, with Voss bringing home the bacon again is enough to make any true bluebagger salivate.

If all else fails ----> Make Bluey a Blue.

Now that i think about it, I dont care who we elect as new coach.
Can anyone do worse than Pagan ?
Noop.

Lets just pray that Pagan & Mitchell are both exited off the premises end of 2007.

Go Baggers !!

Yep. Prime reason why everyone just needs to settle down.

I think we need to go through a proper interview process and look at all the alternatives not just jump at Voss out of desperation.
Hawthorn did this and came up with a left field pick in Clarkson but it proved the correct decision.

I was on the Voss bandwagon like others but have cooled due to his association with Grant Thomas and the pub incident.....if after proper process Voss is appointed then fine but I think we need to start doing things correctly rather than making panic rushed decisions...

With ya all the way Elwood on what you say.

Pagan gets job with a handshake and on reputation ( Which was the downward spiral at North) Our we giving the job to an untried coach without looking at the alternatives

I have a feeling we will. Otherwise why wouldnt Pagan be shown the door by now

Voss if selected could be the greatest coach in AFL history

It could also be Tim Watson mark 2 ala Saintsland.

Sheahan said on AW today that he thinks that the tide is turning against Voss, and that no club is considering him for a senior role (although plenty are for an assistant's role). He said that the same trend is happening at Carltong, they are going off the idea of Voss as senior coach.

Also mentioned that Swann was at Collingwood and saw both McKenna and Laidley first hand, and is super impressed with both.
