Things could be a whole lot different next year

Pagan gone & a club in finals would be a lot more attractive to Fev to stay for another contract than if we are in bottom half again. Lets Show that we are a club on the move upwards

Fev is gone... it just so happens that his and the club's interests coincide over the next 8 weeks. He plays some good footy, keeps his head down and gets his pick of clubs to move to. The subsequent trade value is maximised, the club is happy. They both know this, so there'll be a unified public front until the end of the season.

I wish Fev would read Air Cav's open letter to him. He could have been a part of a great rise of this club. New coach, another good pick or two, plenty of $$$ in the bank to get a premium recruit.

The fact that Fev met Swann excluding Pagan is interesting to me.

I'm tipping they were talking more about Pagan than Fev himself. I would think that Swann would have reinforced to Fev that his actions are unacceptable but then the conversation was around his r'ship with Pagan.

I was happy that Alex was with him at the meeting, although how common would that be in a situation like that for the wife/partner to be there?

He looked ambushed to me and there would be heat from the club with his contract on TFS so he did look uncomfortable. I don't think he tipped Hutchy off.

The fact that DP was not there is glaring and pretty much says he is gawwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn by season's end.

Or you could say based on last week's performance, if Fev plays, Priority Pick, HERE WE COME!

with a new coach, fev will stay.

What makes you say that under a new coach Fev would be any different Winfield?

He couldn't play under Parkin, couldn't play under Brittain, and now has been unable to play under Pagan, and Fevola is Pagan's love child.

I have yet to see ANY indication, other than hope, that Fevola will be able to change his ways. That doesn't mean he won't, it's just that it is impossible to have any confidence that it will happen, until we actually see it happen.

I'm certain Pagan won't be there next year, and it wouldn't surprise me if Fevola wasn't there next year either. Although much of that will depend on who is the new coach.

but then we get to trade him for an early pick ... so we don't really lose a pp, just our best player. But the real beauty is that there is no guarantee that the kid picked will be fit to shine Fev's bootlaces and then we can use our second round pick to draft a full forward instead of the best available ... this'll be great.

Hopefully we can have all the success St Kilda did when they got rid of Lockett and Hall (although it turned out alright for both Hall and Lockett i guess), or we can spend another 3 years on the bottom following the Hawthorn model ... but then to follow that model, we need to trade someone of value next year too. I hope Murph and Gibbs aren't to attached to the Navy Blue yet ... or maybe we could trade Walks - we might get a top 5 pick for him ...

I am asuming that you mean the Pagan is gawn and not Fev.
I would also state that if Fev is not traded then there would be some contract changes that would include things like new KPI's, counselling and team oriented goals.

If I were the new coach of Carlton the first thing I would do is to take the team somewhere isolated and challenging for a team bonding excursion. We need to instill a culture where we play for each other first andforemost. Clarkson has had imense success with their Kokoda trail bonding exercise that they did and we need to do the same.

What success did StKilda have exactly? A lost grand final and a preseason premiership? Then they slumped again and picked up Reiwoldt etc.

PS: Trading Murphy/Gibbs/Walker...the very idea almost puts me into cardiac arrest.

So, exactly what model should we adopt, the 'think small because losing hurts too much' model or the 'think huge for self-sabotage' model? :?

Far from convincing and I would say both Fev and the club have agreed to keep the peace until the end of the season and see what offers are about.
I dont see Fev seeing playing out his career at the Blues which is a shame.... and I only see Pagan seeing out the season.

I'd be interested to hear Michael Voss comment on Fev and what he would do with him....

In print it sounds a little more convincing than the reports from last night's TFS. :P

Also gets a guernsey in the little paper...

maybe we should take on the hindsight recruiting model

If we don't get the PP this year and then trade Fev because we want picks, i would say we don't know what model we are following ...

just because we made the mistake of not trading Lance doesn't make trading Fev THE answer.
