Look, if there's any more of that I'll have to suspend you from the site so you can go away and have a think about what it means to have access to the site and how you interact with your fellow posters.

If Pagan doesn't survive which is unlikely at this stage then the new incoming coach will have a big say if he wants Fev around. This will all eventuate before the next trade week in October. Going by our recent history with trades I think keeping Fev would be in the best interests of the club provided he knuckles down and plays to the team rules and with the commitment expected.
Playing Russian roulette with our most marketable player and only matchwinner is suicide. I ask this? Would Freo trade Pavlich, Would Essendon* trade Lloyd, would Hawthorn trade Franklin, would St.Kilda trade Riewoldt, would Geelong trade Mooney, would Brisbane trade Brown.
St.Kilda traded Tony Lockett and Barry Hall to Sydney with the latter playing in a premiership. Did St.Kilda win a flag by doing this? NO.

Unless the offer is too good to refuse which I can guarantee it won't be then he stays put.

That's the problem LC..."provided he knuckles down and plays to the team rules and with the commitment expected".

How do we know this will happen? He's had the best part of 9 years to knuckle down, with all the chances and warnings and public discussions, and hasn't been able to do it.

What if he still can't do it?

I don't think any Carlton supporter would want Fev anywhere other than in a navy blue guernsey with 25 on the back IF we KNEW he was going to knuckle down. But the sad truth of it is we just don't know if he will, or can. This is why some people are advocating a trade for good value, it mitigates the risk.

BTW, compaing him with Pavlich, Lloyd, Franklin misses the point...if we were offered a straight trade...Fev for Pavlich, or Fev for Franklin, or Fev for Jonathan Brown, you'd take it in a hearbeat. Why? Not because they are necessarily better players. But because they are reliable, team orientated, and show leadership. That's why they will never be traded, and that's why Fev might be.

You know the thing that has nagged me the most is, why did the Official Carlton web site, make sure that they got rid of all pics of Fev if they claim that the club wants him to stay as long as his attitude changes?.

Now I dont know about you guys but i see it as a message that the club is wiping it hands of the Fev even before a decision was made.

So now that Fev & Swanny have said that Fev is staying are we going to see the return of the Fevs pics on the official web???

I think Fev looked unconvincing and he will be shopped around at the end of the year. Carlton has to remain open to the prospect of keeping him as wanting to trading and actually securing a trade are two different things.

I'd like him to stay, but if the right deal was done, it might be best for all concerned.

Just as an aside - it's interesting that TFS devoted 20min or so to Fev and less than 1 min to Didak (which is arguably a much bigger story).

And Eddie doesn't have a conflict of interest.... :? they lack the balls to dig on Collingwood stories.

Hard to say, considering that wanker Hutchison clearly ambushed him with the camera ready and that Fev clearly just wanted him to flower off.

We'll know more after monday.

However a good point was made about the link between Fevola and Pagan, in that Pagan's career depends on Fev's performance. However that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Ambushed? Don't you think that Fev, being an employee of the Footy show, conveniently tipped Hutchy off? If Fev had not intention of talking to him, I am sure he wouldn't have.

I found it extremely interesting the outcome of the 'apparent' love in at Paul Connor's offices yesterday.

Fevvy obviously, being an employee of the show, tipped off Hutchy for the 'scoop'.

What I found more apparent was Fev's reasoning or rationalisation of his behavior.

He has found the pressure all to overwhelming at the minute. The pressure is coming from none other that Denis himself.

He finds that Denis' tenure as coach hinges totally on Fev's ability to perform.,

Although this is what come up in the meeting, the fact that Fevvy be coach come seasons end....

Very interesting to hear that the shag is feeling the perceived pressure.
Surely this sees that Denis will be no longer coach come seasons end....

Great to hear him fully commit though...

For now....

Judging on what both Fevola and Swann said, sound like they agreed to keep the peace until the end of the year as it's in everyone's interest until trade period comes along.

fev & pagan have lost each other.
fev is finding it difficult to play under pagan.
with a new coach, fev will stay.

I think that the removal of the pics of Fev were to send a clear message to Fev that he has had his chance of being the face of Carlton and he has repeatedly embarresed the club, so going forward he will have a much lower official profile. Also Fev likes to be the center of attention and adulation, so removing his pics strengthens the dicipline process.

I wonder who tipped Hutchy off

Seems most were unconvinced at the 'show' of unity between Fevola & management.

So we're all going to 'make the best of it' till the end of the season?? ... like the Pagan/Mitchell saga... :garthp:

@#$%&! off Pagan & @#$%&! off Fevola!!!

Such a sad situation considering all the good stuff the board is doing away from the FD.

I hope that is true too Fevolution. And I hope to god he can stay with us as a one club player. I REALLY hope to god he doesn't pull a fast one on us in 2008...

Why do you guys so seriously hope it is true?

What happens if he does not want to stay? Do you follow him to his new club??

I hope the outcome is in the best interests of the Carlton Football Club.

If he wants the opportunity to stay, or at the least commit for the remainder of the year, so be it. Knuckle down Fev and get back to work.

If he decides that he has had enough of playing at Carlton. So be it, sit out the season and lets get guys in who firstly want to represent the club, die for the cause and us members and supporters.

I love Fev like anyone when he is on his game. But he is extremely high maintenance. If we can get a gun kid and a top draft pick for him, I would be all for the move. Unless he is 110% behind the club, the players and our cause!

Linchpin, if you've been following my posts, you would know that I am a huge advocate of trading Fev now. However, like you and everyone here, I am a huge admirer of Fev. I would like him to be a Carlton player if I knew FOR SURE that he will never leave this club and that he will give his 100% every week. But I doubt that will be the case.

Plus having seen the footy show last night, it strengthened my belief even more. I noticed that he said he is a Carlton player and wants to play out the last 8 weeks of this year and also next year. He didn't make mention of wanting to play for Carlton beyond 2008. Now that really worried me. I was hoping to at least hear him say he wants to stay a Blue for life. But he didn't.

The ppl here who are saying that Fev is going to be staying for sure are getting their hopes up for nothing. If you had actually seen the footy show last night, it would have shifted you to the thinking that Fev will not be with the Blues soon. I'm sorry to burst the bubble, but that section on Fev last night was not a positive one.

My impression is a little different
I dont think its a certainty he will be there in 08

He spat it because he was 4th in line for the captaincy

He has been playing for himself for a while now more than he should

And its another excuse for her media friendly wife to get her head on the telly.

And i thought he was in QLd

These interviews are a bit embarrasing really

I see this as Fev feeling the pressure in trying to repay Denis, and not Denis putting undue pressure on Fev deliberately (eg. Denis saying to Fev, "You better kick minimum 5 goals a game, or I am going take you down with me since I will be sacked.").

It is no secret that Fev loves Denis. He publicly admitted that he owes Denis as if it wasn't for Denis, he would have been sacked by the club a long time ago and may not have had a career.

So, the pressure is coming from within Fev himself to perform for Denis to keep Denis in the job as he feels that he owes it to Denis.

I'm saying the above assuming that what Hutchy said on the Footy Show last night is true at all (for those who didn't see it, Hutchy said that he thinks Fev is feeling the pressure to perform for Denis).

The Age: Fevola determined to stay a Blue

In print it sounds a little more convincing than the reports from last night's TFS. :P

I don't read too much into TFS. Fev was embarassed. He obviously didnt want to talk to Hutchy but has a contract with 9. If he can resolve hs differences with his teammates, he'll want to stay.

It's not really just because he is on TFS that I am pessimistic. It's his demeanour on camera last night that worries me. I understand that emotions are still running high at this stage, but as I don't know the guy and can only base my thinking on what I see and hear, I just couldn't see the positives in that story.

But of course, I am just speculating. For all it's worth, I may be waaaaayyyyy off. And if that's the case, I apologise in advance to the ppl here who may actually be involved with Fev in some way and know what's really going on. Like I have said previously, I'm happy to cop sh*t if I have been wrong all this while.
