Mmmmm... bordering on arrogance?? This is not the first time this has been mentioned.

Hasn't done anything yet so look forward to seeing his development.

definitely came across as quite friendly/welcoming as opposed to arrogant

Main observations / comments:

- all players extremely welcoming and friendly
- Bentick really impressive - good size, speaks well, seems like an all round good guy
- Benjamin lives with Ken Hunter
- Raso very frustrated after glandular fever and wrist injury
- Aisake a very impressive size, at least a head taller than Ackland, laughed when he told us to "pair up in groups of 3"
- Edwards a very confident young man!
- the tackle bag hurts more than I expected

All up, a great thrill. Pity about the number of Filth supporters there.

Cheers,
NBH

NBH, I met Clintons mum and dad recently ( Perry and Sue IIRC) and they said that Clinton was absolutely rapt to be staying with a WA Carlton legend. Great to hear that the club is doing many things right. Looking after the interstate recruits is crucial if we are going to retain all of the fine young talent that we have recruited in recent years. BTW perry also mentioned that joey Anderson was very happy with his billet - where ever that is :P

possibly, can't really recall....I was filthy, to win it he had to mark a high ball kicked from behind him by Crosisca, he was the fourth to try, I was the second, got both hands to it and fumbled it. Too many years watching DeLuca.

I've certainly commented that Edwards is very confident - just the right side of arrogance. But I meant that as a compliment.

I reckon if you had to pick a personality type for for a footballer, you'd pick an extroverted, self-assured type. Maybe you need some other types in there for some balance, but the introverted, insecure type is the biggest concern. Their form will wax and wane according to external events - a dropped mark here, a criticism there. The self-assured type knows he's good, and the dropped mark is just an aberration.

As long as the self-assured type is coachable, team-oriented, and willing to work to instructions, then that's fantastic.

I reckon the same thing can be said of Murph. He wore the mantle of being a no. 1 pick as if it were pre-ordained. If you had put him under hypnosis, to quote GT, and asked him if he was surprised or embarrassed by the accolade, I'm sure he would have said "no" to both in a dismissive tone. He walked into the club and spoke like a seasoned politician to the media. Just his calm smile says he's cool with it. He walked into the Rd 1 side and played like a 200 game veteran against the Demons (whereas Gibbs was still pretty flighty on his debut). You can tell he has absolutely no doubts that he is an elite AFL player and will go on to great things.

If Edwards has the same attitude as Murph, I'll be more than happy. And you can tell when he gets the call-up, he'll believe he's overdue and there won't be any stage-fright.
