On SEN on the way home the question was asked: "Who has the poorest quality list in the AFL?" ... Dermie, Robert Shaw and all the rest all chimed in CARLTON! What shocked me is there wasnt even a second to pause and think about the question.

These guys know their stuff particularly the two mentioned. Whilst I find it hard to admit I find it even harder to argue with them. The only list I think is in similarly poor shape is Collingwood.

Can anyone here mount an argument to prove them wrong?

@#$%&! the media

@#$%&! the doubters

@#$%&! everyone

im sick of the negative crap going around at the moment

our team is no where near the worst in the league, we are playing crap football and can only put 1/4 together a game at the moment, but we arent getting beaten by teams, we are beating ourselves.

Sounds strange i agree, but i think we put ourselves under more pressure than the team we are playind do, and that comes down to structure, and we havent had the same structure once this year, since the wizzer cup.

Why is it that every other team i.e. Collingwood, Hawthorn, Essendon* and a few others are given the luxury of "youth" as an excuse yet, in the same breath we arent allowed to have "youth" without them all running around like they have played 100 games each.

People compare our kids to others of the same age, but alot of our kids have yet to clock up 50 games let alone 100 like the kids they are being compared with (Sporn & Livo an example o, both have only played around 30 games)

two months ago alot of people here where believers, and some respected as well, but time gets tough, people forget and suddenly, we have th shittest team in the AFL.

shame on everyone

i flower hate the way we are playing at the moment, but what i hate more is the responses from some of "our" supporters.

call me stupid, call me a dreamer, but @#$%&! me, 2 months ago we where all creaming our pants about our team, now afer 2 and 1/2 wins we are ready to get rid of the team.

The filth win a game, and suddenly their "list" isnt so bad, st.kilda loses a couple in a row and suddenly questions are being asked of them, wont even metion Essendon* and the lies that sheedu spews forth that the media openly swallow, but anyhting about carlton and people are falling over themselves to agree with it.

flower hell, hawthorn last year where supposed to be the wrost players going around, they have had 3 players added to their list. which hardly win games for them, and suddenly they are world beaters as well.

Same goes for Richmond

Why - they hate us, and we hate them.

But the response from some supporters has me stunned, it appears not only are we fighting the enemy but we are fightin each other.

The only way forward for the club - is as a united front, from the club, the coachs, the players, to the supporters if we arent all going in the right direction then we are never going to go anywhere

On paper we may or may not have the worst list in the league. On form we do, by a long way unfortunately. Some of that may be due to structure as Prez suggests, some of it may be due to confidence, a lot of it is to do with our apparent lack of skill. There's no denying a win will make a lot of people more positive, but I'm not sure where the next win is coming from.

Prez we can F%&$#! all the people you like and that may be a nice distraction but dont bury your head in the sand. When Dennis says that we are suffering from the lost picks what he´s really saying is that we dont have the list.

Adding just 3 or 4 top line talents (like a Franklin, Lewis, Delidio, Tambling and Roughhead) doesnt just add 3 players to the list it rejuvenates the older players and the whole club, it inspires hope. Add a new coach with a vision and both the Tiges and Hawks prove that the recipe is a powerful one.

I dont question that Pagan is the one to take us to our 17th ... the current group of players out there wearing the Carlton jumper, they´re the ones I question.

Prez - great post.

This week, I reckon we'll roll Adelaide over there....for no reason other than we've been embarassed with 2 10+ losses, followed by what should have been a 10+ goal loss in our last game at optus...i know the players have more pride than this, we showed it last season.

Outstanding work Prez. owe you a beer for that one.

Rather have you in the trenches with me rather than some who would perfer to hide in the bottom of the trench saying "Can we wait for the new miricle weapon that the Furher promised please."

don't get carried away with anything brereton says .... he makes so many unbased generalisations it's a joke!!

he's such a genius he doesn't need to do any research stating that while we have a young list, we also have "a lot of old players"!! name names you @#$%&! peacock!! who are all these "old players"?

then when huddo or robert shaw rattled off some guys who haven't had as good a season as last year, dermie said something like "yeah but they're all over 25". of the players named only lappo is over 25!!

this weekly cycle of:

losing team = worst list/will be down for years;
winning team = stars on every line, should play finals

is one of these crosses we have to bear.

a week ago flower like sheahan were racing their grubby fingers over keyboards to critique the same collingwood list that is now magically full of promise and budding stars.

tonight they said we have the worst list. 2 weeks ago it was collingwood. next month it will be someone else (i hope). that's all these media twats can do these days ... compose bullshit lists ... actually, it's what this generation is all about!!

btw: what were your top 5 clangers from saturday?

I think the point is we have the worst form.

I worry about our leadership group

We have a weak list so that injuries - especially to taller players - kills us

Our skills are shot at the moment - probably because of confidence and because we have too many goers rather than skilled players.

I admire the defiant attitudes to prove the knockers wrong, and I encourage it.

However I think that ultimately we wont get very far without improved skill and more talent in the side.

Class is ultimately what wins games, but sometimes a relatively unskilled side can overcome a better team. This wont translate into sustained success though.

This is why I have said that I wont be at all happy but am prepared to tolerate a low finish on the ladder this year in order to have the best chance to get the skill and talent our group desperately needs.

Saying that Im not happy is a bit of an understatement, Ive actually been a bit depressed in the knowledge of how badly we are going, and the thought of a long 2 or 3 year haul isnt a nice thought at all, but unfortunately there doesnt seem to be another way...

Mrs Cazz... BM was talking about being in the trenches .. i was wondering what his definition of a trench was....

It couldnt be war... cos if it was war.. i would have heard about it.
I think he means he wants a few blokes to help him dig a grave.
