Fantastic idea Mark, would be an event I am sure many people would attend. The social club used to be packed a few years ago when we showed the game on the big screen.

As the others have said, quality of food and bevs in the social club needs to improve, even a hot dog stand would be better than the current.

Maybe have some of the bullants players in attendance with raffles etc.

Family bays a great idea. I remember my sister and I went to a WCE vs Carl final shown at PP a number of years ago (96 if my memory serves me correctly). The only thing I can remember of that day (other than the result) was the fact that I could barely breathe as I left, the smoke was that terrible. That was even in the day when people were used to people smoking around them at the 'real' footy.

I suggest a family bay where there is no smoking and drinking. If that is the case, I'd be looking forward to taking my nephews to the odd future game, as it's a good idea.

Disregard this if the no-smoking ban at the ground continues for these type of events also.

Thanks for your ideas - some great ones there - and particularly your support. Keep them coming.

The Social Club will be showing the game live this week and all are welcome to attend. The new concept won't get up for this week. There is too much to do, particularly regarding facilities at the ground to ensure success. While you'd expect some teething problems we don't want to botch it up. The PA system is the big one. It was a shocker at the Family Day so we need to ensure it works but also complies with noise regulations. Not to mention food, staff, general facilities, entertainment etc.

Someone asked if it rains what happens - I haven't discussed this one with my fellow BMs but I guess get there early for an undercover seat or bring a poncho. You're going to the footy !

QFT - We sometimes forget with the roof at the Dome what it's like to sit in the outer on truly winter's day. Bring it on!

the thing i most like about this idea is the fact that no other Victorian club has thought of it......................yet!

Go for it guys. I'll be there for sure!

More for "show" than celebration....I find it easy to keep people there (particulalrly kids) if you say there are fireworks at dusk

I'm fortunate to be going to WA to see the match against the weagles...but just about every other time there is an interstate game on foxtel I head to the Club to watch with other long suffering comrades.

I think your idea is great and provided the club could ramp up the quality of the food etc, then it would really be a buzzz, esp now that we are getting back on track :-D

How about instead of a screen, we just bring the interstate games live to PP  :P

Dunno about the others but I was more concerned with equipment function, I'm guessing it's not an issue then - so yeah - bring it on. :D

I think its a great idea.

I am happy that you arent trying to rush it. These things have to planned and executed well otherwise people dont go back.

People need to be comfortable given they can watch it on Fox or at a club/pub.
There needs to be adequate food facilities. ie not waiting 30min to buy something to eat.
If it rains, people can sit in stands. You wont get a huge turnout on a wet day anyway.

In summary I think its a great concept, but you have to treat people with respect. They wont put up with crap just because its for Carlton

Exactly... treat it like a pseudo match day except with a bit more entertainment...

Mark,

I think you are to be commended. It's a great idea.

I agree with earlier posters that this epitomises the difference between this ande earlier administrations.

What about pre and half time speakers - old players, an MC?

I assume that the club will also make money from food and drink sales.

Having listed/injured players who aren't selected, mingling, would be great.

Having something Captain Carlton like for the kids would be great too!

Brilliant Idea Mark. I'd definitely be there. I've attended quite a few of these days at the club in the last couple of years & it's been great!

I am kicking myself for not thinking of this concept myself! GREAT idea! This will really bring back the feeling of a good ol' classic at PP. I will the first one there if the concept gets the go ahead. Great idea! :)

GO YOU MIGHTY BLUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A win this week against the Eagles will REALLY make my day, week and month!

I know that suggestion is more tongue in cheek than anything, as the father of kids with nut allergies, I wonder what are the legal ramifications of haveing peanuts thrown around the place and then eaten leaving shells, peel and debris lying around. Its a potentially large lawsuit, so I thinks its one idea to leave to the monkeys
