Inspired by Sticks1977's (?) thread on best 3 games.

[popular consensus seems to rate the following 4 Games as our clubs best in recent history.

Vote for your favourite game.

I had to stop somewhere 4 it is.......

There are MANY great games that didnt make it, like...........

voted the '95 grand final...as an impressionable 7 year old...the brilliance of Carlon's '95 side was only made greater in my eyes.

Sorted EB.

Now to my vote ... no matter how good any home and away or finals win might be, a premiership win has to take the gong every time. That's why we follow footy, to win grand finals. Any other win is but a fleeting moment of joy or a step closer to the ultimate prize.

This should be re-titled best game in mos peoples living memory because the richest part of our history has certainly not been the last 15 years.

To choose from these four though it is really difficult to split the West Coast Game and the Essendon* game.

Both games where we were really expected to lose.

I vote the West Coast game because it was really against the odds, the blues had top spot wrapped up no matter what, they really went into this game with no incentive whatsoever to win.

... and what happened; a physically brutal game, where the team could have easily said we will save ourselves to next week. But what did they do, served it all right back to a powerful West Coast team and beat them on their own turf. When they won this game I knew the premiership was in the baq, nothing more sweet than that. The Essendon* game was great purely because it stopped them from winning a premiership, but winning that game never made me think the premiership was in the bag.

I wasnt at the 95 Grand Final :( For that reason I had to vote the Essendon* game (I was also at the Collingwood game).

Absolutely.

I use it as ammo all the time......it's the only one that matters.

No brainer with those options....

Can't remember how many times I've posted this ...so here goes again...

I've met sooo many people that were at the 99PF, some of them have even been Essendon* supporters. The funny thing is, despite the fact that the queue for GF tickets had about 2thousand Essendon* supporters in it as I was arriving at the game, I haven't EVER met one person that was in that queue

How about any game from the late 70s and early 80s featuring those 10 goal Premiership 3rd Quarters?

You know those ones that those flower heads at Channel 7 erased.

I am happy to say that I was at the glorious 99 Preliminary Final and for a moment of sheer joy and exilaration no other game I have attended has topped that.

However I might add a couple of other Carlton moments of awesomeness:

1992 Carlton Vs St Kilda at VFL Park - Dorotich led comeback, I think we kicked 12 goals in the 3rd quarter. Unbelievable game (again happy to say I was there)!!

Not much info here but I guarantee it was a brilliant match for us!!

2004 Carlton Vs Adelaide at Football Park - The best win over the past 5 years. After a terrible first 20 minutes we should have gotten thrashed. Instead the Bluebaggers hung in there and overpowered the Crows in the last qtr. Fev nailed a totally brilliant goal off the boundary line (he kicked 7 that day I recall) to win the game. Even Campo was brilliant that day - he played one of those rare games where he was almost unstoppable... :( misses the rare almost unstoppable Campo :? feels embarrassed.

See Fev nail those Crows!!

Can't go past the Premiership. Most dominant performance imaginable.

True, but if we didn't win in 99, Essendon* would have won back to back premierships and have 17 in total. We robbed them big time.

I would have to say 99 Premlim, even though I was at a pub watching on Tv, and was at the GF for 1995.

Sat quietly all match, daring not to think we could do it, the bloke in front of me knew I was a blues man, and when Ess came back he turned around in his cocky voice and said it was only a matter of time before they ran over Carlton.

The look on his face at the end of the game, when I gave him a pat on the shoulder and just nodded with a sliily grin on my face was priceless.
