OK, The idea is to contract out the entire list.

Each player how much, how long for. Note if you would trade or delist

Your Salary Cap is 6.5 mil

I Have put players into brackets of earnings

(T) means willing to trade
(1)or (2) or (3) means lenght of contract

$500 000
Stevens (2)

$400 000
Koutafides (1)
Camporeale (2)

$350 000
Fevola (2) (T)
Whitnal (2) (T)

$300 000
Thornton (3)
Waite (3)
Lappin (2)
Houlahan (2)

$250 000
French (2)
Teague (2)

$200 000
Scotland (2)

$150 000
Sporn (1)
Prendagast (1)
Setanta (2)
Bentick (2)
Simpson (2)
Chambers (2)
Davies (2)
De Luca (2)
Walker (2)
Betts (2)

$100 000
Raso (1)
Russell (1)
Blackwell (1)
Bryan (1)

Delist
Norman
Morrell
Mc Garth
Bannister
Bowyer
Clarke

Total 5.8mil

I have left 700 000 for new players onto the list via draft and trades

The 400 000 for Campo and Kouta onto the vets list will pay for a name player via draft/ trade

I think the days of the big long contract are long gone and as for backloading....

Boys, just a friendly reminder from all the moderators...

Mrs C this thread is for everyone to give thier opinion on how much they think each player is worth. There are no right or wrong answers. Just doing it now, it is quite challanging and I suspect that the figures most come up with will be similar.

It is not a rip to shreds or a defend thread. It is an intellectual excerise and I am quite intrigued as to what various people will come up with.

I think the point was more that some of the posts in the threads are getting a bit petty - It certainly shits me to read some of the 'banter' so I read and post less - particularly after losses where in all reality most of the good constructive discussion SHOULD take place.

I have a list that is amendable according to trades.

Salary Cap - $6.5 million

Top 12 players to be divided up as follows:

450K - Stevens
400K - Fevola
300K - Thornton, Camporeale (vet), Lappin, Koutoufides (vet)
275K - Waite, Houlihan, Whitnall
250K - French, Teague, Scotland

This equals $3.225 million (due to Camporeale and Koutoufides on veterans list).

This leaves 26 players sharing $3.475 million. However, I will take $475K out so that we can chase a big-name player.

If we delist 4 players (Clarke, Bowyer, Norman and Morrell) - 4 draftees will replace them - at an average of $70K each, they take up $280K.

This leaves us $2.720 million to pay 25 players (assuming the big name recruit takes $475K).

This means that the rest get $108.8K each.

If we knock it down to $100K to cover contingencies, then this leaves us $220K which we can use as emergency money or offering performance bonuses.

As can be seen by this difficult exercise, it's a lot harder to fit 38 players under the cap than it seems. Which is why offering a player 600K (or even 500K) just isn't a good idea.

Mark you are missing some players: Carazzo, Fisher, Hartlett, Johnson, Livingston, Longmuir, Wiggins... That just might take up your spare 700k.

To help with calculations these numbers are from the Figure$ thread:

Thanks to the Collective Bargaining Agreement we know exactly how much 1st and 2nd year players earn.

This group have earnt so far this year (base payment + money earnt from games played):

Bentick 44400
Carazzo 56900
Walker 74900
Betts 52500
Bryan 39300
Raso 39300
Russell 45600
Hartlett 41400
Deluca 74250
Blackwell 39300

Total so far this year $509,855

This is how much they will be paid for each senior game for the rest of the year.

Bentick 2500
Carazzo 2500
Walker 3250
Betts 2200
Bryan 2200
Raso 2200
Russell 2200
Hartlett 2200
Deluca 3250
Blackwell 2200

Roughly another $100,000 there.

So around $600,000 for those players for starters this season.

Also, the Minimum contract for an AFL player is
$51,500 base payment and
$2,200 per senior game played.

Not sure how many players would be on the minimum contract.

You are quite right Mallee and yes they would go close Out of that group I would probably delist Longmuir and offer Livo as a trade. I like Livo but he spends more off the park then on it and I know most of the time it has been sheer bad luck.

11 outs man thats a big slash a burn.

not saying i disagree but i reckon atleast banno, davies and mcgrath would probably stay.

seems its hypothetical i guess its okay, as onviosuly everybody is not up for renewal this year. otherwise you would have a lot of troble siging up everyone in two years time.

Elwood offers 250K to Camporeale, I offer 300K and you all think I'm anti-Camporeale...

PS Forgot Brett Johnson who I would keep for one year at 150K so figures need adjusting..10 players axed is a lot and in the real world it wont happen but its a group of players who are under the pump and it would more likely be 5-7 depending on how the team and they go for the rest of the season...I would like to think we could get two fairly good players with the remaining dough, promote Smith , and pick up some kids in the draft.
Might try and trade for kids like Lonergan from Geelong which also shouldnt cost much.....Lance would be trade bait and I have the feelong that Campo wouldnt be impressed with my offer either and would depart so there may be some more money available....

Re: Campo....no bias against him and I still think he is a good player but we have to move on and I think Kade Simpson is suited to taking over Campo's role and I would be giving Simpson the game time....25OK is still good money but I wouldnt be paying him anymore based on the fact he has had it so good as far as his last contract goes.....

People need to remember T Longmuir has had a very interrupted pre season - you can't expect him to perform to his peak after coming back from OP.

Denis would have not recruited him for nothing. He has talent

gotta laugh at the "intellectual exercise"......
Lance wont be at the club .. unless noone wants him and hes on base in my opinion... certainly not worth what Fev is worth..

and Campo???well i hear part of the renegotiations is what will that player get paid by another club... hmmmmmmm i can just see a club coming to a 31 year old down hill skiier that set the tone with a sissy attempt to tackle in the first few moments of that game and offer him 400k.. yeah right!!!

Cant wait till the end of the year,... we better be in a Priority Pick position and not win 6 or 7 games thats for sure...
