I'm really not sure if this is in the right section or what but anyway...........

Watched 'Sports Tonight' last night and there was a story on the Bulldogs and their plans for the works to 'Whitten Oval' to take place at the end of the year.

Now that's all good and proper, and god knows it needs it, but it's partly funded by the Victorian Government and apparently (i do say apparently as my friends is sure of this but he is a bit of an idiot!!!) the AFL.

Add to that Geelongs ground and their new wonderfull stadium, funded by their number #1 fan in Mr. Bracks as well as the AFL.

Now tell me why again we can't get funding for 'Optus Oval' and we have to post a loss of $10million + because we get no assistance from the AFL or Mr.Bracks?

Am i missing something here.

Not to mention the only way we are promised funding for re-development of Optus Oval was if we Shared our 'Home' ground with North Melbourne????????????? (Who have since rejected that offer and decided to stay at Arden Street.

I'm starting to believe all the 'AFL hates Carlton' talk, seriously this is rediculous! Please tell me i am missing certain important information regarding this.

Hell, i've even heard from StKilda fans that their planing on upgrading their home ground in the next two years. No doubt that will have financial backing too?????????

You are not missing a thing Ryan, we are being left behind again and the AFL could not care less. The board will be addressing the future of redevolping Princes Park within the next while but at the moment it is all up in the air, given Nth and Melb have decided to go elsewhere.

So that part (Optus Oval training venue redevelopment) of the "big sell" to move home games away from OO was all pie in the sky stuff I take it?

ahh , my young padawan learner, the force is strong in you.

with my help i can help you to harness your hate and use it against the AFL.

The AFL will use every single oppurtunity to screw the CFC over, and it almost worked, but we grow stronger with every passing day.

The project was initiated at Federal level, not state although the Bracks gov is putting in some cash.

The reason for it is that Princess Park is essentially in a safe Labour seat at Federal level and is always going to be - the western heartland however was swinging during the last election hence the idea to buy a few votes with redevelopment plans for the area.

Its come up again in the media becuase of the budget on tuesday evening.

Funnily enough the Howard government also gave some money in the budget (about $5m) to expand the farmers market in the western suburbs but lo and behold the Bracks government decided to move the market to Epping in the meantime. SO if you feel like lobbying for a spare $5m to get some cash for Optus there might be a chance! I think i hear Max Grattan somewhere.

A better idea might be to use the cash to subsidise the price of bloody beer at the footy - i feel abused, especially when the scoreboard doesnt make you feel shit hot in the first place....

NAH, stuff it Prez................let's turn to the dark side and really screw them up!

But seriously, why in the hell do we have to 'Share' our home ground just to get a buck out of the AFL.

AFL = PROSTITUTES!

Like we've been duped with offering more Carlton home games to the MCG to allow the AFL off the hook with the Plemininary Finals. The AFL knocked it back, but are indicating they may do the same deal with Collingwood.

DUPED!

I'm drawing a line in the sand.
I've had enough of all the power plays, the wheeling and dealing, false promises, and the money hungry bloodsuckers who have hijacked this great game.
If OO is let to just crumble and turn into a derolict state i will no longer have a financial interest in AFL football. It's just not worth it anymore.
CFC as with MOST other clubs have been turned into a toothless tiger who are forced to bow and scrape to the AFL.
The way the game is run now is not the way the game became so much a part of Aussie culture. It's lost it's sole.
The clubs just seem to meekly go along with whatever they're told to do by the almighty AFL chiefs. If so many of the clubs are in financial trouble that means somethings wrong with the AFL structure doesn't it?
I will not be blackmailed into "financially supporting my football club because if I don't they'll die" when in my view so many aspects of the "AFL industry" are rotten.

I hope for my sake, because I've barracked and financially supported the CFC for 30 odd years and I want that to continue , that the club shows some fight and reminds the AFL of their obligation to help restore OO as a state of the art training centre or otherwise I'm done.

Well spoken budzy!

I personally am not that upset that we will never again play a game at Optus Oval. Sure its sad, but i'll move on.

HOWEVER,

i am upset that we agree so often to the AFL's demands and, currently, we are getting nothing but bullshit in return. Draft picks are one thing.............but the way i see it, the AFL are doing us from behind and 'convieniently' forgot to bring the lube!

Other teams have begged and crawled and kissed ass' to the AFL for assistance for years now yet we have done it all on our own. Yet when we need some help they are nowhere to be seen????

I'm ashamed that i'm an AFL member. Next year, i'm going straight for Social Club membership!

again......................AFL = Prostitutes!

Collo is CFC's president and he should be fighting tooth and nail for our footy clubs rights. Bad blood between him and the AFL are his personnal issues and not the clubs. I have it on good authority that he and Demefroot are good mates, but who needs enemies when you have friends like that. Anyone remember BlackFriday. :twisted: Collo was taken for a ride on that night and he still hasn't learnt or atleast I haven't seen anything to the contrary. The vendetta continuous and seems to be continuing.
