Garth Hamill and Gardiner as well as Ferguson can share the nickname 'sicknote'... did i forget Kosi???

Ok that must be the only nickname that is shared by 4 blokes from one club... SIX... i forgot the Clarke brothers...

and pay my regards to Trout... i miss him already!!!.. and so would the boys...

Rumour has it 'Sugar' heard 'TRout' was coming and ran....

No, actually i am quite pleased, we had 36 listed players and there was a sugestion that young ferguson was to be delisted, whicxh would be a great shame as the kid can play.

Now he will get his chance to shine, and ackland would not have seen much game time unless Gardiner breaks down. Brooks will also now get a run.

all in all, a good result and I don't wish Ackland any harm.

He is a bit of a wuss though.
:P

Its not Unless Gardiner breaks down..... Its more like when Gardiner breaks down.

Now i personally see some merrit in this signing. 3 years might be out of the ordinary and generous but the reality is that it will be three years before we have our very own Ruckman developed.

We never rated Harry and he turned out fine. We never rated French and he was "good enough" all things considered , so maybe just maybe we should reserve judgement.

I have a gut feeling that this could be a good signing for us....Time will tell...

I am far more pissed off that we have that little prick Elshaug as an assistant coach. Is that who trout is.
A real arsewipe, if there ever was one. Dennis' little yes boy .

Happy to have SOS though. I might even speak to him now. Happier to have his missus round the place.    She's not too hard on the eyes.

I agree. I will approve of the Ackland selection provided we actully draft a ruckman in the national draft this year to show that we're not just perpetuating the ruck problem indefinately. If we do that, then I'm fine with it, particuarily given half the people saying he's not a no.1 ruck and he's too short were the ones emailing the club a few weeks back threatening to not renew memberships if we recruited Gardiner. You cant rule out one of our limited options and then complain when you don't like what's left.

Ackland can be the biggest hack in the world, but I'd rather watch him go around for 22 games next year than Deluca or Bryan.

Good luck Cain.

I agree with you in regards to the ND and how this signing shouldn't affect our recruiting policy. We desperately need a top shelf ruckmen and given you can't just pick one out of your clacker, one of our top priorities should be to draft a rookie ruck. This signing should have no impact on the draft.

The question I have is, was he the best player available in the PSD?

This is all a bit silly by the board.
Yes Cackland is better than what we have BUT at 3yrs AND good money its absurd. That is shocking considering the stand they have taking on 3yr deals and especially T-Bird. Ok, we have cap space but give him a reasonable 2yr deal at worst. Every time i think weve turned the corner it seems like im sadly disapponted.
anything more than 200k is too much... and from reports im guessing hes on 300k or so...

Welcome aboard Cain.

It's about time we moved forward into the new millenium.

In the 70's a benckmark was set with the introduction of the 6 foot (185cm) wingman.

In 2006, Carlton set the new benchmark with the introduction of the 6' 5" (196cm) wingman.

What? He's our ruckman!!

I'll wait to see what else is there in the PSD before I pass judgement. I was hoping we could snag a 200+cm ruckman from somewhere...we still may, if we delist Davies and Bryan.

He could turn out OK...I suppose the recruiters/Pagan had to do something...?!?!! He was loved by the Saints supporters, and they'll be spewing...but Blake wont miss his aggression. He's aggressive...I like that part.

Well he'll at least be more mobile than French, McLaren and Bryan. He jumped all over French in the game against the Saints early this year, let alone running rings around him and McLaren. But he's still not a genuine height for the boundary throw ins....but yeah better than what we've got.

I remember him missing a couple of games early in 2006 with a groin concern, and the Saints really missed him...he carried that complaint for the rest of the season.

His scalps in 2006 included Jeff White, Peter Everitt and David Hille. He's a hard worker and runs well, and provides a linking option for the saints. I just hope that he has got over his groin complaint and runs just as hard as he has for Carlton.

Still too short for a ruckman for mine.

DeLuca 202
Ackland 196...down the track may become our BP if Hartllett doesn't stand up.
McLaren 196

Aisake 202

Bryan's a goner, and McLaren will be a goner in 2007.

Ackland's significant 3 year offer doesn't worry me. He's only 24, and the salary cap is going up over the next 3 years...I bet it isn't that bad to take, given the Saints were struggling to stay under the cap with huge contracts to a plethora of stars.

Please oh please recruit a 200cm ruckman at pick 17 or 19 and pick 67 or 80 (Griffith will be interesting if he's mobile enough).

That will give us midfielders in picks 1, 19, 35, 51, 67.

Well atleast I wont HAVE TO watch McLaren and Bryan as our first 2 rucks in 2007.

As I said in the threat on Talking Recruitment-
Cain was 50-50 throughout trade weke about coming here-
The board thought they'd missed out on him when he met Lyon last week- I think some convincing from Sticks might have got him over the line..

Lets give him a go- hes young and talented and Id rather him rucking then Deluca..

Josh ..he is Dud with a capital D who had to be replaced with a VFL journeyman in Michale Rix cos he wasnt up to it.....
A 3 year contract for what?... a undersized ruckman who is shorter than the ones we already have....does he come with a stepladder when we play vs Cox, Sandilands etc.
Convincing from Sticks?........do the members need any more convincing that Sticks hasnt a clue?
He cant compete with the best ruckman in the league...what is the point of recruiting him?

I'm prepared to wait and see what Ackland does next season before getting cross, but I still fail to see why we'd commit so far out from the draft.
