Well...Stephen Reilly - like most journos have contacts...and one of them is probably Anthony McConville. So - either manager has phoned journo or journo has phoned manager...it's a 'i'll stratch your back if you scratch mine' kinda deal.

Reilly's editor wants contract dispute peice now that all Vic clubs are out of finals race...McConville wants pressure on the Blues to sign these 2 for more money than what's on the table...

...and all of a sudden there's a good story.

WHY THE HELL ARENT WE THROWING MONEY AT OTHER TEAMS PLAYERS??

WE are THE team that should be looking at other teams promising young players and the view of the PSD yet we're gonna have enough trouble just keeping what we've got??

We had last year to entice someone as well - who did we get Dylan McLaren :garthp:

Does our football department know anything about the way the system works these days OR are they still on holidays?

Which player in the league has a ratio of 80 goals to 20 points?

Thank God we didn't get Kosi @ $600k per year for 4 years ....we will put the squeeze but history is showing fewer and fewer players pop out either at trade time or PSD....combination of better player management and better awareness by 'other' clubs.

BAsically there are few win-win deals anymore...everyone is trying to offload a dud and hoping someone else is stupid enough to give them something....actually Carlton was probably the last to catch on. The PSD is more of a "what's left " rather than a serious opportunity now...Stevens was well the last "reasonable" deal.

....oops there was one win-win ....Campo last year 8)

Might have been a win for CFC and a win for Campo's bank manager but I fail to see what Essendon* got out of the deal...

I rate Fisher highly. He is just about the best overhead mark in the comp.Name me 5 guys better than him in this area.He is young and has scope to improve. He also has had no luck with injury.Having met him he seems like a quality bloke as well.Yep he is a shit kick for goal and will never be a big kick. You get no argument from me on that score. So why hasnt he been tryed on a back flank where from what i have seen he could excel. W4e must sign him as well. I believe we have played him in the wrong possie. An actually he isnt a shit kick just a small one.

No one doubts his marking ability, but marking is pointless if you can't kick goals from 30 metres dead in front regularly or kick fullstop from anywhere with accuracy and penetration.

I think Fish may start to struggle for a game as young Edwards and Raso start to come through.

Can Fisher kick?

A second rounder and a player would be ideal if he wants to play this game through the media.

- Pick 17 - 2006 National Draft
- Pick 19 - 2006 National Draft
- Pick 1 - 2006 Pre-Season Draft

Its good to have depth.

That is why you play him in defence. Fisher can hit targets and has footy smarts. He will be in the best 22 next year no problems. Even with a summer in the weight room Raso and Edwards wont be ready foer senior footy yet.

Why would you play him in defence if he can't kick? Blokes who run off half back need to be able to hit a target over 55 metres - kick through the lines. 40 metre floaties takes us back to the Jimmy Plunkett/Andrew Eccles days.
Just make him practice kicking all summer and stick him up forward where he belongs.

I assume you are talking about his field kicking - because as for his goal kicking he wouldn't trouble the 21 metre spread from behind post to behind post from around 30 metres.

Sorry if Miss Agro Junior is reading this - she loves Fish.

Yes, only our present captain and future captain can play this game.

Our leaders show the way.

Agro he can kick the ball to position well. Its just that everyone looks at his goalkicking only. To think that some on this website dont care if he is traded tells me they know @#$%&! all about footy.

Trade T-Bird my ass. Why would you let your best defender go when you're desperately short of defenders?

The kid's 22, played almost 100 games (most against "gorillas") and is ready to explode ... well, be a very good player for us. Perhaps the next Sexton.

Yes, we could redraft him in the PSD but we don't want to piss another pick up the wall (ie, McLaren ... though he may be handy next year because of dearth of big men). It's hardly a step forwards when you use one of the "perks" of finishing last on maintaining your list, rather than enhancing it.

As has been said numerous times in this thread, it's just makes the coin Lance and Kouta are getting all the more galling.
