That is pretty obvious. This whole "positioning" oneself to replace Pagan by default makes me nauseous. If SOS wants the job, why doesn't he go coach a side and show everyone he can actually cut the mustard.

After the Collo stab in the back by the gutless , opportinistic pieces of shit.. i was lucky enough to chat to a director... he told me "SOS will be the next coach after Denis"

I asked what SOS had done to prove his worth???

He said "SOS is doing wonderful work out there.... "

Its just more clutching at straws.... and having no idea...!!!

Mitchell was the prefect guy for 2 years to just develop a list and work on a young lists skills...then re assess.

Theyre weak!!!.. and it will come to a head.. and SOS who has no coaching experience will be the only one left to take over.. and then one day he will have to cop it in the neck too.. because thats the nature of the business,...

They have no idea....

What if Pagan is there in name only and actually SOS is the coach :?:

SOS will be the next Wayne Brittain until we get another high profiler like Pagan...

I don'rt think that's the issue. I'm sure Denis has been doing all he can .... the problem is, all he can do is not what is needed.

You misread my post mate....I don't think it's an issue either; but it's more important than ever for a Bullant's Flag to get some good news permeating the Club.

We need to get a Winning culture back to Carlton....it'd be a start.

Isn't every potential coach in the same boat?

We're likely to have at least 3 new assistant coaches next season, they'll all be 'positioning' themselves to eventually become coach and none of them will have coached a side before.

Will you say the same things about Michael Voss?

Yes I would. I would say Voss should go find a VFL or SANFL, or hell even a TAC cup side to coach, and if he can prove he can sit in the big chair and make decisions and take responsibility, and has some sort of tactical nous, then I would happily accept him as an assistant coach or perhaps straight in a senior coaching role.

I don't think SOS has shown he can do any of that yet, so I don't think he should have taken it upon himself to intervene to save Pagan, just to preserve his own job opportunity down the track at the, in all likelihood, short term expense of the club.

As for having three new assistant, as I said before the whole situation of sacking the assistants but not the senior coach is an absurd outcome.

Anyone know what Pagan produced in his presentation as a plan for 2007?

If thats the case theyre dumber morons than i thought..and Pagan has no pride .. and were even more down the gurgler than we all think..

No matter how you look at this Denis goose is cooked.. its just a matter of how long the cooks leave the carcass to stew and spoil before it comes out to the table...

Great manouevering by SOS then. Amazing timing.

As for absurd outcomes...well, that's what a manipulation of our market because of the huge contract payout we would incur. DAMN that 3 year contract.

ps Ive calmed down now.

ps No, Denis's goose isnt cooked, its up to him to turn it around early in 2007. If he does he'll be OK. If he fails in say the first 6 rounds he'll be moved on and SOS and will step in

Yeah i do.... "noone will ever know how much those draft picks hurt the club"

Pagan doesnt have a relevant game plan.... it went out the door when the game became tactical

When do we stop using these excuses? Shouldn't successive wooden spoons mean that he is not performing?

Doesnt there have to be a time where the buck stops?

THIS LINE...NO Further?

Some time soon? We have to stop playing the victim?

Let's start on a more basic level:

Anyone really know what happened at all in the board meetings beyond the statements made to the press?

You're getting more upset than you should Synbad. The fact is SOS is doing good out there! And he does have coaching experience...and for what it's worth he has the respect of current, past and wannabe coaches and players.

Now don't jump the gun....Silvagni wants to be coach - but in 2008 or 2009 when some might say it's 'his turn'...the board that is in then (remember it won't be the current one) might very well turn around and say - actually Steve - we think you'd be better suited to us in a Director of Footy Operations role....

...I mean listen to yourself! You're actually advocating Barry Mitchell come in as coach for 2 years to 'develop the list'?? What a waste of 2 years...he's not senior coach material....never will be - listen to Wes Lofts and get over it.

I heard Caro showed her face, which blinded everyone so they couldn't see what Pagan was talking about.

Constant upheaval? What upheaval Fegg? Having the same old same old is why we're in this predicament. Same old 90's coaching philosophies, same old 80's business models.

Pathetic. If you're poor you change it for the better. There has been no change and quite frankly it appears the Board are happy with sh*t.

You have a short memory. Remember throwing out the Elliot board? What about 3 presidents in nearly as many years?? So once we,ve ousted this lot, how long does the next board get , is there some time vs success formulae that we should apply? How does it appear that the board are happy with sh*t??

No betterment of financial situation, no betterment of onfield situation.

The most disappointing thing about this situation is the complete lack of professionalism shown by the Board in this whole situation. They leak the fact that Pagan's in trouble, then they back down, making a mockery of the Club in the process.

It's the lack of professionalism that grates the most probably. If this was a publicly listed company, shares would have gone to $0.00000005.

Oh for the days when Carlton people acted with the clubs best interests at the forefront. :(

We have a board who would flick Pagan in a second if they could afford it.
But those who are offering the money have the ability to create a power vacuum which the board cant control.

The answer, self preservation. Retain the coach with a favourite son to appease the masses and buy time. Self interest.

Then we have Pagan. His control has been watered down so much of recent times that he is a dead man walking. He is told who to play, how they should play, how to construct his list and now, who his assistants will be and what their roles will be.
Why does he continue?
Ego wont allow him to admit his failings and the opportunity to spite those who have crossed him is irresistable. He'll suck it in and invest his 700k per annum for better days.

Steve silvagni. Legend of the club.
Doesnt have the runs on the board to be the man in waiting anywhere else but seizes the opportunity when the board is vulnerable.

A sad day for the club. Most involved have forgotten why they are there.
