some people here need to remember this.

i like setanta, i like everything about him, and i have no doubt given time, and given proper oppurtunity he will develop into the player we all hope he does.

the game against the halks, whils an oppurtunity, was not a proper oppurtunity, he was thrown to the wolves, he needs all of Fevola, Waite & Fisher in the forward line to allow him to grow into the game and not be thrust into the spot light like he was last friday.

While I was wrapt that he was selected to play, it was pretty obvious that he wasn't ready for it and there to much expected of him from both fans and Carlton officials. Having Setanta has our main target was a big ask and it really does show how much we miss Fevola when he's not playing for us. Something, for the people who wanted Fevola gone, to remember.

I, like you Prez, have no doubt he will be an excellent player for us in years to come, however, he needs to be brought in when he is used as the 3rd or 4th target up forward. There would be less pressure on him to perform and he would have an easier task playing on the 3rd or 4th defender.

I'm keeping the faith. Much like I did with Simmo after a few people wrote him off.

From what i seen he is a long, long, long way off and like many of you i do hope to continues with his development but you got to remember VFL footy much different to AFL footy so don't count all your chickens at once.

key position players more often than not take longer to develop.
I think his progress has been good. On Friday nite I think our
midfield let him down, Could you imagine how well he would
have gone If the Bulldogs midfield was passing the ball to
him lace out on the chest as they do 95% of the time. Our skill level
by foot is crap. If we had played the bulldogs last Friday nite we would
have got belted by at least 10-15 goals!!!!!!!

I still think he did ok ... not great, but at least he did the hard things. A couple of his tackles resulted in turn-overs and one directly led to a goal.

Anyone who has seen him play regularly for the Bullants (and against Geelong in the NAB Cup earlier in the year - a performance which seems to have been forgotten) would say he has enough potential for us to persevere with. Kicking 4 or 5 every week in the VFL (considering the stage of his development) is normally a pretty good indication of a bright future.
