I can't say that I'm happy about this - this represented a perfect opportunity to add another revenue stream and go for something slightly daring. I thought SILVER with blue logo was a shoe in. Would have held a press conference - put Kouta, Stevo, Fev and Murph in the jumper...and when the question is asked - why did Carlton opt for silver?

Simple - we have enough silverware in the cupboard - we're the most successful side in Victoria - we've won the most Grand Fnials than any other club - and the group of youngsters we have coming through the club will be part of some more silverware to add to the trophy cabinet.

Not good enough Blues...get into the 21st century. Ask freo how well their 'white' jumper has sold with the Y generation...not great - I can tell you now.

Yep, good theory IMO. Shame noone else thought so.

why wear silver when we're GOLD???

I think thats it pretty much. Except maybe thin blue lines down the side, by the way they explained it.

Exact opposite of current jumper. Where there was white there is now blue, where there was blue there is now white.

Carlton Unveils a ‘Clash’ Guernsey

Quote:
Following discussions with the AFL, Carlton will be required to wear this alternate guernsey in away matches against Fremantle, Port Adelaide, Melbourne and St Kilda. The Blues will not be required to wear the alternate guernsey in the traditional ‘blockbuster’ matches against Essendon*, Collingwood and Richmond.

[quote]“While the navy guernsey is the true Carlton guernsey, the alternate guernsey, combined with the white shorts, will ensure we have a suitable playing uniform for those few matches each season where our colours are similar to the opposition. This will certainly be a real benefit in the heat of battle on the ground, making it much easier for both teams and I am sure will also make it easier for the supporters,â€

Is it Richie Benaud white or is that a crap picture?

Actually Ithink it looks better if it isn't stark white.

By the way, there are already cheap copies on sale at Chinatown/Vic market...

Very ordinary, and lacking any sort of imagination.

Not surprising really, given the condition of the marketing department at the club....

Very safe option by the club to have the opposite colours.

If they were going to look at alternative colours, at least think outside the square, like a semi metallic silver or something.

Disappointing not to capitalise on an excellent marketing opportunity.

Potentially lost revenue. :x

First they change it just for the games in which our guernsey "clashes" against other clubs and then next a few years down the track they make sure all away games we play in this shi*te guernsey.

it is just a first step in getting rid of tradition and letting the "marketing experts" at the AFL have their say.

I have no problem with "clashes" with melbourne guernseys etc.. all that needs to be done is for the away team to wear white shorts, but i guess opinions of supporters don't matter.

we are the navy whites, we're the team that changes our guernsey on a whim, we're the team that has just sold out.
