The latest issue of "BRW" has an article on the healthy state of the AFL and NRL, including a table that indicates that $A10.09 million of Carlton's $A19.80 million revenue comes from sponsorship (admittedly it includes merchandising revenue). The Pies' revenue from sponsorship is given as $A14.18 million, but their total reveue is listed as $A38.61 million.

Pardon my ignorance, but where is that other $A24 million coming from?

Gate receipts, memberships, afl distributions, returns on investments, etc.

The call itself isnt that bad if you take into account the need to bring on field success for memberships/support. He was still young at the time (24/25 i think), completely injury free and performed (and still does) at a very high and consistent level. Would have made a huge impact to the midfield/forward line over the past few yrs - walker though showing promise still hasnt done anything yet. Considering that we were lamenting the lack of support for kouta/campo/stevens - Brown would have been a good addition on and off the field (media profile).

Or we could have kept pick two and drafted Kepler Bradley. 8)

Back on Luke Power...

Listen Synbad, Luke Power DID NOT want to come to carlton!! We went hell for leather to try to get him at the end of 2003 and HE DID NOT want to come!

Do you not remember... Yes we went heaven and earth to try to persuade him to become a blue...!

What are you saying, we should have forced him at gunpoint to come to the club!

Nearly had Brent Harvey I know that....Harvey had all but agreed to join us but the Kangas went belly up at the last minute to his management and agreed to everything he wanted including bro Shane., the club also had Archer and co begging him not to go, and giving him the guilt trip stuff...he was on the hook we just lost him as we reeled him in...

Things are happening down at Carlton....... just wait and see

Mrs Caz - I love it when you talk dirty!

Now that's a positive!

No im not saying that at all... i would be selling the club to him.
Luke Power didnt want to come to us because we cant sell an idea to him.
There are a heap of things the MC could have done but didnt...
We just succeeded in making the club an unattractive destination.. which is almost impossible really.. considering he has won THREE PREMIERSHIPS ALREADY... and he was dying to get home...and of course security would be a big factor for him too.

I know youre quite simple Blues Number 1... and you really wouldnt understand a good sales job if it hit you on the head... but right now promotion is something this club is very poor at.

Life is seperated by can dos and cant dos... id like to think we are a can do club...

Ok getting back to the suite... Fantastic news that we picked up a suit sponsor .I am not saying this tongue in cheek i really believe it. What the sponsorship yields is not important.. whats important is that they looked outside of that square they have been living in for thew past few years.
Secondly, if you wear nice stuff you feel good.. if you feel good you can pick up the chicks!!.. or just improve your self esteem.

Havent heard who will be dressing us .. as i have been busyish today.. but id be hoping its a Zegna or a Valentino and not Del Monte.

Dom Bagnato suits. Milu shoes.

Good on the club for picking up "outside the box" sponsors but those that seemingly have a synergy with the heritage of Carlton. ie Italians.

Small steps but positive.
Next suit I buy will support this bloke.

Just back on Power for a sec

Maybe the Lions told him they'd target him every time they played us if he came here?

We wouldn't have had a lot to argue back to that.

Can't be that CK - Kouta would have stood up to them...

The fact that that amuses me is a tad depressing... :(

I can think of a very clear incident where Kouta rushed in to smash someone picking on a team-mate.

Not sure anyone would rush to Power's aid though.

What would that make you? You seem to know what you're talking about sometimes and then reek of double standards the next....

How is bagging the shit out of a b&f winner and 3rd place winner balanced. What more can they do...

I would have loved Power to come to the club, the reality is he didn't want to come...
