You look at Waite and you can tell that he's not got the ability to play CHB or anywhere in defence. He's an exciting, explosive and attacking player with the rare ability to change matches on his own and in order to get the most out of him he must be used up forward or on a wing. Why turn him into something he isn't? He doesn't have the smarts, discipline nor ability to play in defence, so let's not put square pegs in round holes and let's use him where we can exploit him best!

Lance looks set to have a good year. As for Waite throw him on a wing and tell him to push forward, agree with Danny that he wouldn't be suited to the backline.

Put Waite in the thick of it, you don't have a bloke that big that quick sitting on the side screaming kick it to me - you have him in the guts bursting out with the ball...

If Waite had built up stamina he would be a fantastic as a ruck rover. With Kouta slowing down and retiring, someone has to fill that position of a big bodied follower.

There are plenty of options developing on our list to fill KP in the forwardline, and backline.

He has the aggression, ball winning ability and burst of speed to play there. I'm not sure about his stamina at this stage, but after 10 rounds in that position, he would add stamina to his strengths.

As a result, he could run back into the backline when defending, and sneak into the forwardline when we're attacking. After all he's a bit of a freak, and we should exploit that; keep him in the game as much as possible.

When resting, or when we need a match winner, he can easily play in the forward line, and kick a few goals. He has proven that.

..i think Waite works best as a half forward flanker.. ..if he's to move further back, then only as an attacking wingman.. ..he's better streaming off a pack, running into space rather than getting in the thick of it as a clearance player.. ..he's the kind of player you want yer midfield to link up with, he's better that way.. ..i don't think he's good enough for a true CHF.. ..not saying he's not a good player, but he's better suited to the half forward flank.. ..the Whitnall is our current best CHF, using him as CHB is robbing peter to pay paul..

I don't believe we should play Waite or Whitnall down back as this is only playing into the hands of the opposition. You don't see Sheedy playing Llyod or Malthouse playing Rocca or Tarrant down back. We have had 4 years to find a geniune tall backman and yet we still have to plug holes down back with Waite and Whitnall who along with Fev, Fisher, Deluca and Setanta could really cause the opposition some headaches with matchups.

There is no use been negative all the time as all this does is create a mind set of negativity instead of creativity.

Are you a member yet???

Turn a game on its head?????

He cant kick....!!!

Waite is the most overated player on the list and he must learn to manage what he has.
He wont do it by beng given fourth defenders to play on.

this is a player who is has never been given any real responsibility and MUST step it up NOW!!!

Bullistic... i dont want to even want to hear your stupidity addressed to me ok???

Manage what he has - good point - so lets not try and turn him into what he isn't. In some respects I agree so why would you play him at CHB?

i would play Waitey at CHB for 6 weeks because he is a 193 cm 95 kilo monster who is getting used to playing on smaller players .. or out on the wing and is twenty three years old and has no responsibilities and we need him to knuckle down and be more than that at his age and size....

Fancy having a guy who is 193 cms and 95 kilos and we want him to be a wingman... in the state our list is in.

Howabout raising the bar for Waitey and daring him to take the next step.
The club needs it!!!

He was killed when he lined up on Pavlich as Andain also highlighted and is too small to play as a CHB.

People have a problem with Walker playing HBF when he should be running free on the wing, yet Waite should be played at CHB!

Compared to Walker ... Waite has been allowed to o whatever he likes.

Pavlich has killed players better than Waite at CHF... but ok.. yes we should hide Waite (our 193 cm player..95 kg player...) on the wing and keep playing T Bird and Livo KP possies each week...

Waite needs to step up!!!...

The question is do we hide him on flanks or give him a role a player of that size demands.

Yes he might look small.. but he aint!!!... he looks small because he has never had to use his body in contests...!!!.... not because he is smaller than Livo, T Bird... Leo Barry... Max Hudgton or a heap of other players playing KP.

But i get your drift.. lets keep out on a flank....

Synbad you want development then why bitch about walks playing a tagging role and learning the trade from half back??????? isn't that developing????????

Refer to him as "Switch-hitter Synbad" - whatever he posts today, you can be sure it'll be different in 6 months time. He use to love Lance, Pagan use to be the man who worked his arse off for the future of our young team, Collins & Co were the group to lead us out of oblivion, etc etc etc

I also used to like a band called 'Sweet'.. i dont anymore.... its called evolution... thats why you dont walk on all fours...

Cos you change with experience...

Youre different to what you were 10 years ago.. so is Lance and Denis.. and so is footy....

Life is dynamic... stuff happens... you can either try and stop the clock or you adjust...

Nothing wrong in that...

So does that mean you want Pagan to continue develope Walkers defensive side or not? I'm confused!!!!!!!

If he's never used his body in a contest at the age of 22 where's the good in playing him as a defender?

He's a forward/wingmen and that's where he should stay because he still isn't much bigger than a 19 year old Kennedy. Hartlett is the player that should be played down back to teach him how to use his body.

Makes more sense than chucking a 22 year old attacking player into defence and giving the opposition less to worry about. Fisher might get a better defender if Jarred isn't up forward and then we'll have something else to complain about.

Such as Deluca being a starting player when he's a dud or Kennedy being played before he's physically ready.

Walker shut down a few players... including Murphy...time for Walker to get back to his normal game.. and at age 19 can always be played down back.. but not every week...!!!

Do you see the difference lucablue????

Or not????

One has been played exclusively as a defender tagger aged 18/19 for over a year now... not given the opportunity to use his flair..

And the other a 23 year old... 193 cms 95 kg monster has been given licence to play on the wing forever...

Cant see the difference???

No???

Well why should i even bother with you then???... you dont get basic concepts...

Because when youre 22/23.. and youre 193 cms.. and 95 kilos .. if you havent learnt to use your body .. you better start now.. or you mightnt make it as a long term footballer.. especially when your kicking technique is poor too.

Yes you're right Synbad, I don't get your BASIC concepts!

I do get pagan's concept though of enabling Walker as a 19yo to learn the art of defence. What's the rush, he's got another 12 years to play attacking football!!!! What he learns now will stand him in good stead for the rest of his carrer. I'm surprised that someone like you Synbad with such foresight is struggling with this developmental strategy. Perhaps you have some other agenda?

Development is about rounding someone off.. and improvement.

cant see how you improve a number 2 draft pick by turniung him into damien peverill do you???
Yes my last agenda was to make sure campo pissed us off for Essendon*.. im secretly working on my next agenda.....

using your analogy shouldnt waite get the walker treatment too???

surely we need waite to be developed pagan style for 2 years.. i only said 6 weeks.

ahh so now we target Waite. Walker is playing on smaller types, Waite would be a shocking match up on Murphy, or on Ablett. But if you want to develop him as a KP type backman then I still think he would need to be given time in the ants to learn that role.

ok if thats the only way to get waite to learn to be a real 193 cm 95 kg player.. do it!!!... play hartlett there in the mean time!!!...
hes played like 5 bullants games...
i dont get the waite situation... he needs to play to his size not smaller.
waite can play for the bullants at CHB for 6 weeks straight.. regardless of what happens.

The pavlich thing is irrelevant.. pavlich is a gun and could do that to anyone.
