They are hard running team. Always running to space. Well drilled. Possession game.

What you see is what you get.

Other than the return of Williams who was rested, and Saad back from injury, we only have Moir in the VFL who is quick.
Cottrell and Chesser are out of form.

Wilson has Saad's spot (Newman's spot? Nah)
Moir is a Medium forward (Kemp or Gov's spot?) maybe Kemp
Williams would be taking Young's spot. He's quick.

Armfield Judd Garlett Walker Pickett Yarran are all long gone....

We have to win that ball and ensure we move the ball quickly with precision, and pressure them like phuk when they get the ball.

A few corkies to their thighs may help. Stops scaping their Achilles. Knees to their sciatic nerve. Knock out Humphries and Holmes.

In: Weitering, Williams

Need to give FYoung another game or 2. Would not be right to drop him.

Last week, Cats went in with 4 Rucks :yikes:
No 1 ruck Mitchell Edwards (206) debut this year and played his 9th game in the ruck vs Grundy for 54% Game time.
The other 46% Ruck time was shared by Sam DeKoning (204), Blicavs (198) and Neale (203)

Edwars is younger than Riley, only 20yo and same height 206cm (I think Riley is taller than than, just)
Limiting him to 54% Game time allowed him to go full throttle for the time he was on.
We could do something like that with Riley, with Pitto and McKay.

The fact is, Riley has just joined us and last played VFL l3 weeks ago.
He needs to throw his body around to get the feel like he belongs.

This week, I've got Riley as No 1 Ruck at CB, O'Keefe as a roaming CHF, and Reidy at FF in the VFL.
Cats are top of the ladder, led by Worpel in the middle. Will be a tough game.

I expect Truslove to swap Reidy and Riley to avoid a meltdown.

This is why I think we need to lunch Riley on this Friday night, otherwise the cats will wear down Pitto quickly and MacKay will be slaughtered and we will have no tall at FF for very long periods.

If that is the worry, I'd think about bringing in Lewis.
That way Harry and Lewis can pinch hit in the ruck.

Same thought crossed my mind. Need someone tall and mobile when Harry is rucking, otherwise Cats tall defenders will intercept all night: DeKoning. Stewart, O'Sullivan all tall and good intercept marks. we need to bring the ball to the ground, and keep it away from O'Connor and Guthrie where they start their run from defense.

Its going to be a huge challenge keeping up for 4 quarters.

Unnecessary defensive running is the enemy, as it has been all year.
Hitting targets and kicking goals when we get the chance is the key.

For me: in Williams acres and weitering
Out Carroll Derksen and Byrne

Acres is a good hard running player.
We have Young, Wilson, Jagga, Dean and Ison in the team for youth. And without Carroll and Ollie, Acres is the best option for wing.

no hollands or carroll, time for ben campo to get a run, or will acres come back in?

lots of goal kicking practice this week, though part of me thinks the team wide yips were due to the second half mental pressure the team has been under and them expecting to fail. another 4 quarter effort and we may steal this one

Acres didn't play VFL, late withdrawal — presumably rested for AFL this week?

EDIT Ok, just saw that Bender confirmed this with a VFL assistant coach. Carry on.

I thought the Dean - Haynes - Derksen triumvirate went pretty well against Port.

Our pressure on the ball carrier played a part, but it’s not like Port let us walk the ball out of the 50.

If grumble guts is fit to play, I’d sooner play Haynes as a wing/spare than drop Derksen. That game was a real confidence booster for him after the absolute ‘mare of his first two. Also, if Harry is going to ruck for extended spells, he can go forward and not look completely hopeless.

Won’t happen, unfortunately. Unless gut-running McGovern is having some effort-induced awareness.

Williams can sit this one out as well. Bit sick of watching him go through his achilles ptsd.

Acres is straight up playing for his life. The lasso & cauliflower forward of centre actually trying to craft a score will help his effectiveness by foot.

IN: Grumpy, Acres, Moir
OUT: Derksen, Carroll, Young

Keen to see the Ison, Moir, Byrne show on the big stage.

Two years ago, Syd. We're on an orange socknami.

Don't know why the 4 rucks have put the fear of god into some of you. None of them are particularly good at it, that's why they share it around, so they can at least do it with maximum energy. I'd take the positive approach and look for Pitto to put the hurt on skinny Mitch, Teemu De Koning and the non-hairband great galoot. Blicavs is still a gun but H can match him for athleticism.

On the flipside, 4 rucks can possibly work over Pitto ...knees, spread from contest, sneaky swapping, not allowing eith Pitto or Harry to get comfortable and adjust to the new opponent.

I think Pitto is fine, just sayin' there's always a flipside. Remember people saying 2 rucks is not sustainable or, will never happen, or only Vossy likes 2 rucks, or only Vossy would do such a thing??? Now we have 4. FMD. The game evolves

I think we'll be right in the ruck. Its forward targets that worry me most, and converting our opportunities. 4.10 in the 2nd half last week. Please make it 10.4 this week

No Williams, I wonder what being 'managed' is this time.

Williams is much more dangerous than Byrne and Young.
Williams has been great this year

Obviously giving Young a chance to find his rhythm, and a block of games for both. Fair enough.
Hopefully the kids respond.

I didn't see that, still unless that is tactical and he is in, he's still out.
Plus that's what we had him out for last week.
I guess that was my question, what does being 'managed' mean this time?
Especially, when he would be ahead of several players in the team and with both Carroll and Ollie out you'd think we would need him in this week for his run and kicking.

I don't like the idea of Flynn Young and Bryne in the same team ... I think we carry both to a degree ... limited ability (at this stage) and can't play in many positions.

Williams for me is a far better in.
