Though, I'd try Jordan Boyd. Can run, can kick with better accuracy than acres.

And the vfl team needs acres

Surely bender's intel means Acres is in for Geelong. You don't manage senior players to ensure VFL depth.

Bender's intel is not something I'd ever thought I'd read on TC....

Based on what Ive seen in first half and last weeks vfl game Cottrell is way off a recall.

Kicking for goal and passing is lame. Not the player he was in 23 24

If not Acres, Cottrell, Lucas, Carroll, Hollands for wing, who else is there?

Chesser? Gosh, he’s not knocking any door.

His pace looks better today, but like Cottrell a headless chook imo

Bondi, im at the vfl and neither Chester or cottrell deserve a recall. Nor does any other player aside from LYoung

However I did ask one of the assistant coaches why acres wasn't playing and they were good enough to answer me. Acres was withdrawn from today's game due to Carroll's injury as a precaution against further injury for next week

Yes I knew you were there and standing behind Reidy's folks.

Thanks for that.
I wonder why he didnt get involved in the match sim on Wednesday and stood on the sidelines.

We had a plethora of wingmen, then none were fit or in form.

Acres for me. No brainer.

Funny that.

IMO today was Boyd's worst exhibition of his skills this year.

I thought Lewis Young and Charleson pumped up their disposal numbers from 5 kick ins each.
Lewis wasnt as quick as he was last week. maybe ground was heavy. looked like it.

Only AFL listed player I would give applause to for his output today is Ben Camporeale.
I'm not a huge fan, but thought he was tough and displayed his best kicking since arriving.
He isn't a wingman.

Acres it is (based on our man on the inside "bender")

I'd probably go with Acres, Williams and Weitering as the ins.

We've given this lot misery since they won the 2022 flag. Beat us once in that time by 13 pts when we literally had half our side out. The return game that year we crushed them by 63pts.

Weiters is a test... I dunno. Past experience leads me to believe that he cannot play with even a hint of discomfort. I'd be tempted to leave him out until after the bye...

Dean - Derksen - Newman
Florent - Haynes - Wilson
Cerra - Cripps - Walsh
Ainsworth - McKay - Haywood
Byrne - Kemp - McGovern
Pittonet - Smith - Williams

Hewett - Cowan - Ison - Evans - Acres

I expect Weitering to mind 203cm Fwd Ruck Shannon Neale. He's too big for Derksen imo.
Cameron roams wherever he likes and will be on watch from Dean and Haynes when forward.
Weitering is still the General of the 30m arc the last line.

Hopefully Midfield pressure will force them to kick high ball to FF instead of being free to hit up forward targets.

Only choice we have for the wing is Acres. Boyd likes to run short bursts from the kick but in isn't a proven running machine.
Acres will be great as long as he us careful and focusses on his kicking.

INS: Weitering Williams Acres

OUTS: Derksen Young Carroll (inj)

Lotso love for the new kid on the block, but he's only just arrived and hasnt played VFL for 3 weeks.
He hasn't even trained with his team mates since preseason.
The interesting thing will be which way the MC go is Pitto gets injured.

Last week, Cats went in with 4 Rucks :yikes:
No 1 ruck Mitchell Edwards (206) debut this year and played his 9th game in the ruck vs Grundy for 54% Game time.
The other 46% Ruck time was shared by Sam DeKoning (204), Blicavs (198) and Neale (203)

Edwars is younger than Riley, only 20yo and same height 206cm (I think Riley is taller than than, just)
Limiting him to 54% Game time allowed him to go full throttle for the time he was on.
We could do something like that with Riley, with Pitto and McKay.

The fact is, Riley has just joined us and last played VFL l3 weeks ago.
He needs to throw his body around to get the feel like he belongs.

This week, I've got Riley as No 1 Ruck at CB, O'Keefe as a roaming CHF, and Reidy at FF in the VFL.
Cats are top of the ladder, led by Worpel in the middle. Will be a tough game.

I expect Truslove to swap Reidy and Riley to avoid a meltdown.

This is why I think we need to lunch Riley on this Friday night, otherwise the cats will wear down Pitto quickly and MacKay will be slaughtered and we will have no tall at FF for very long periods.

I think this game is just as important to Geelong as it is to us . They are currently top four aiming for top two . Lose to us and they can forget about a top two spot . They are gonna come out ferocious biting and scratching . We will be put under immense pressure and I'm looking forward to see how we handle it . We have to meet force with force . I think we can .

If that is the worry, I'd think about bringing in Lewis.
That way Harry and Lewis can pinch hit in the ruck.

I see that too.

Furthermore, last week in the 3rd quarter when Harry was rucking or positioned outside the 50m arc, we had 15 entries and no KPF target. Kemp marked a couple miss kicks, and Gov got a couple shots when he marked with no opponen. We wwont get that luxury against the good teams.

Same thought crossed my mind. Need someone tall and mobile when Harry is rucking, otherwise Cats tall defenders will intercept all night: DeKoning. Stewart, O'Sullivan all tall and good intercept marks. we need to bring the ball to the ground, and keep it away from O'Connor and Guthrie where they start their run from defense.

Its going to be a huge challenge keeping up for 4 quarters.
