Kemp needs a run in the twos to gain confidence. Had been going ok the last few weeks, cost us so much tonight, absolutely woeful

Another high draft pick turned to mud

Let's not get distracted by tonight's second half good showing. The End result is the Same.

Their 1st half was totally unacceptable, even for a VFL level. Voss has to Go...

Everytime we get some players into form, others go backwards. Holland's running was supurb... tried all night.... Hayward finally played his best Game and this is what he was meant to do weekly.

But then again, you have Kemp who just couldn't kick a straight kick, 30m in front, Its unforgivable! Weitering is already over it, Haynes is like a Grandpa playing out there!

It will actually hurt us to Win any Games this Season. We need to accept our miserable fate and bottom out for the sake of the future....

That's a fair assessment dodo. Our first half, particularly the 2nd quarter was diabolical. How we weren't 10 goals down thanks to our turnovers and inability to hit a target or even execute a simple handball is beyond me

The second half was enjoyable, but I dare say that the players knew they were done and the pressure of keeping a lead was gone thus they could play a bit freely

Nice of cerra to turn up in the last quarter too

Holland's great game

I like the new strategy of play shit at the start and play well in the 2nd half. It reduces the desire to stick your head in a blender afterwards for some relief

That doesn't matter, the important thing is that they fool themselves into a bit of self belief.

So.... it's not a fitness thing.

In the first half we looked like we usually do in the second halves. But it is clearly attitude, not fitness. I saw one occasion where one of our guys (I forget who it was) was chasing their player who had the ball running into their F50 and you could see that as soon as he kicked the ball, our guy was just relieved that he could stop running. He clearly didn't care really about catching the guy, or whether it was a goal or not. He was just running b/c that's the rule and was happy he could stop. Pressure non-existent. Symptomatic.

Based on what I saw tonight, it is all about dare and attitude. Aganist Melourne, we were running, breaking lines, leading, forward handball.... all those things. Then, in the 2nd half, we stopped doing all the things that were winning us the game. I thought it was fitness - we were just too stuffed. Clearly, that is not the case.

this. its all mind set.

but isn't that also what Voss responsibility is supposed to be? (that is in part why i think its time for a new coach)

the two halves of football, were polar opposites. I dared to dream in the 2nd half, but was miserable in the 1st half. its the same nearly every game, but it highlights its the players application that is the driving force behind it, and not anything tactical etc... again, is that on the players, or is that the responsibility of the coach.

We still make far too many mistakes to be a top 4 side, too many handballs that don't hit targets ... but we are also not a bottom 4 side either.

everything in my head says, finish last, bid on Cochrane at 1, pick the next best kid, then wait for a bid on walker to match. Use the stupid draft to our advantage to get more elite talent in the side, but the heart says, win. Win for the culture of the team, win for the kids in the side ...

i still want to trade Weltering. His attitude (which i can understand) is not that of a captain of a club.

Walsh has gone up in the pecking order. Im okay with the 2nd free kick (i hate that we reward the instigators in our game) because Walsh was flying the flag. You don't want to concede, but for too long we have been meek about these things.

i think its more important we break the losing mindset, and hopefully our second half starts to show we are capable,

with English going down (concussion) we are a real show next week against the Dogs.

.... what i wouldnt give for a Bruce Revell or Kiddy Coleman type across our half back. I though Revell was excellent for them.

what could have been.

The only positives was McKay in the ruck and Haywood
Won’t be sucked in
Worst possible result
It gives the club an out
And Carlton will likely win their next 2 matches
Which gives the deluded posters on this site an out too

Some views
Zac Williams on 1.4 million was useless in the first half. He can kick a footy but doesn’t get it . Soft as warm butter. Only Carlton would pay 5.5 million for a half back flanker over 6 years thinking you could turn him into a midfielder

So do the club learn
No
Ollie Florent can’t kick to AFL standard an was dropped last year at Sydney
Yet we sign him to a 5 year contract
After 9 matches Florent has turned it over 52 times
In both cases the board has the opportunity to overturn disgraceful decisions like this but when there is zero footy acumen this is what you get

Most likely we will win their next 2 as English is a massive out and Port are just going
But it means nothing long term
