I'd like Lord to replace Cerra. He has been very poor for a player of his ability

From a footy perspective, does it matter? If he misses a week we have no full forward. If he plays, we have a full forward who cannot kick goals

Marc Pittonet will miss this week’s clash against Fremantle as the result of a broken hand.

He will undergo surgery tomorrow to correct the issue and is expected to recover over the next week.

I'd go an all small forward line. No one over 185cm.

Byrne, Williams, Ainsworth
Evans, Hayward, F. Young

Chaos balls into forward 50. Kemp to the backline. Worth a shot

The bomb, bomb, bomb game plan will not work with a mobile fwd line...

I'm with you Mickstar.

I can see our holes in our team and list, and have discussed them ain depth.
What about what we do have going for us? We showed that last night and previous week.
Last night the only thing between winning and losing was one freak Daicos.
Shoulda Coulda woulda......

We could, should and would vs Freo IF..........and we can make amends.
WE played one short last night, so 23 v 23 looks to be a fairer battle than last night.

Go Blues

Onya " Chesty Bondi ". As 'ol mate Surreyblue said I mean it . We definitely can win this . And as you quite rightly point out Bondi its not all doom and gloom and we are playing better football than the results indicate .
P S ........... what are your thoughts on the Elijah bizzo Bondi ? wouldn't be surprised if the AFL don't put there nose into it myself .

Should be its own thread, or what do you think thread.

Simply, the Elijah situation dates back to preseason last year, and it has been nothing short of a fluid situation; Thursday included.

I would ask if anyone believes Carlton have handled the Elijah situation well, in the last year? I say more than well, they have set new standards of care. Carlton have ben lenient and did everything they could for Elijah to return to full health.

Some of the comments I'm hearing, or should I say rumours, suggest players knew something is wrong with Elijah. I can't believe that something highly unusual was taking place. Leader, and flat mate/ carer, would have notived. His brother, Ollie, who has known him since birth, would have known.

The reason we all paid any attention to Elijah was his disposal count, and the spotlight and inuendo starts from that. It blew out to become a mega drama. Some on this site, podcasts, and media speculated it was obvious substances were abused. Goes to show, the issue of mental health, and decline is an area society, and the professionals in this field still dont have a grasp on this fluid situation. Who knows? No one knows? Whose guilty? Of what? Not giving a guy a chance to find the footy and redeem himself?

I have spoken about this very sad situation with non footy people, and like me not only do they find the situation sad, we all agree male mental health needs more focus and understanding, and the public have politized the problem, rather than showing empathy and a focus on helping. Fk ther headlines. They dont help, Elijah, footballers, males, or the fiocus on mental health.

If we want to blame the someone, it would have to be the experts, but even they struggle to successfully diagnose. Then, Carlton are innocent. Voss is innocent. Players are innocent. The cpde is innocent. And Mental Health needs more focus than looking for scapegoats.

Really saddened by this. I heard from someone yesterday, someone very very close to elijah said, he was saddened by the whole thing and Elijah may have played his last game of AFL footy. Let that sink in. This is not about Carlton, its about Elijah and how he feel so quickly during a game, with so much support around him.

Think of the victims of mental issues. Think of those without any support around them, not speaking a word of their problem to anyone, not able to ask for help, and left to deal with their personal hell by their own means.. Footy cubs are great pillars of support, and I would go as far as suggesting the football club environment has saved Elijah from something worse, rather than questioning the duty of care the whole Footy club offerred for Elijah.

The club didn't abandon Elijah on a scrap heap. The club looked for a new home for him. There were no takers. WE gave him something to live for, and he seemed to have cleaned up his act and found a new sense of purpose. He went to Vossy after the game, and felt he had let down Vossy, not the other way around.

A bit of a long response. But theres a weight I have lifted Mickstar. Its a hard one for me, and harder for Elijah. Its always good to have a sounding board, isnt it. Wish that was the case for everyone.

Get well Elijah.

Legit question

Did he or didnt he?

That should have been made public during the last quarter. Simple.

I'm guessing he wasnt ruled out, because there was no announcement.

He's so soft. The punch may have stunned him. Standard.

Funny, but I thought if you punched a guy in the head and had him go off the ground you would be reported, even if you were just trying to spoil to ball? Or you would get a free kick.

Isn't that what happened to Plowman?

Yep. The AFL, and AFL umpiring disgust me no end. They are an embarrassment. I watch and listen to babbling Trump, and I see the same throw away lines from the AFL. Nonsensical.

Not many people realise how much Pitto's effort have not only kept us in games, he's put us in front. When he tires, usually after 60% Game time, we falter.

I have seen enough of Reidy's and O'Keefe's rucking to know they are nowhere near the quality of Pitto. We need a new No 1 ruck who can ruck for more than 75% like all other good rucks, or, we need a very good, 3rd tall, Forward-Ruck who can ruck 40% of the time whilst we have Pitto as the No 1 ruck.

Yeah , as you point out Bondi its a multitude of problems rather than one single issue . Out of all due respect to Elijah , the Carlton Football Club has left no stone unturned to help the bloke and we have to move on to do what's best for the Club . No individual is greater than the Club .

I'm guessing this is official coming from you JJ?

I'll take it as a yes. I haven't heard officialdom announce this.

If true... holy jesus ... our worse case situation. Worse than losing Weitering imo.

Losing our No 1 ruck and our No 1 KPF (potential Fwd Ruck) and having no capable Fwd-Ruck on our list.

We are going to be thanking Lewis Young for not finding another home in 2024, when Vossy told him to look.

He's not great, but he's the best we have available as a 200cm depth KPD, KPF, ruck. Our Swiss Army knife.

Gosh we really need to fix up our ruck situation in 2027. Need upgrades on Pitto and Lewis. 2 x 200cm players.

We have no choice but to bring in man child O'Keefe, and retread ruck Reidy. Both have shown nothing this year.

Here's their chance vs Freo (vs Jackson and Cox). Good Luck.

Then there's a couple good marking 196cm KPFs we can cover.

Carlton FC have done their best imo. We have been admired from afar till Thursday night.

We have professionals within the club who look after matters of fitness (physical and mental): Drs, Psychs, Physios, Specialists.

The rest of the club's onfield and off field staff have a duty of care to look after the rest of the listed players, the financials and the well being of its supporters' mental state.

Supporters need nourishment and confidence we have the hands on the wheel, looking at next game for the Coaches, and next year for the List Mgr, Footy Director and CEO.

What doesn't break us, makes us stronger. I hope Ollie is OK too.

The club couldn’t have been better.

Then came the very public execution.

Since the AFL deemed he wasn’t struck surely he wouldn’t have to go into AFL mandatory concussion protocols.

Back to football.....

I'm looking at who comes in this week with Pitto Harry and Elijah out injured.
Reidy and Derksen were selected to play reserves and pulled out at the last minute. WTF?
They are definitely prospects to look at, including O'Keefe. Ill go for the former 2 if fit.

I will bring back Boyd or Saad who both looked really good in reserves, for one of Byrne or Evans.
I'll stick with the former

Flynn Young vs Evans???

OUT: Harry Pitto Elijah Byrne
IN: Reidy Derksen Lord Boyd

B: Cowan Weitering Haynes
HB: Florent Dean Newman
C: Carroll Cripps O.Hollands
R: Reidy Walsh Williams
HF: Ainsworth McGovern Haywood
FF: Evans Young Derksen

INT: Boyd Cerra Lord Smith Kemp

E: Saad F.Young OKeefe

Its hilarious the AFL put themselves in this situation, whether its caused by incompetence, vendettas or plain cheating.
