We look so much better on paper then them. Just don’t understand the one too many talls.

Yes, I was going to defend the HOK selection on the basis that Young (and to a lesser extent DDMJ) will need to play a full match in defence and that ROB as a second ruck could murder us, but with ROB out it seems pointless having HOK who has been ineffective for the most part.

Good to see F Young in the emergencies, but I can see the dilemma of whom he replaces: if he comes in for HOK then we'd have 3 small forwards on the bench. I wouldn't mind bringing in Acres, at least you know he will run out 4 quarters and put in a defensive shift. Doesn't seem much point dropping Hewett only to bring him back in.

@dodo I wouldn't say Hewett is being dropped for poor form, and who cares whether the media wants to call it a "statement"? We've all agreed the midfield is too slow, the balance looked better with Cerra last week, and George has had low ToG% all season, it is a smart move even if it seems harsh.

If McKay plays up the ground, it makes sense to have HOK in the side. We just need someone to create a contest inside 50, have a physical presence and not get outmarked. 3 things Harry has struggled with.
Plus we were atrocious last week when Kemp went into the ruck.

Personally, I would have dropped Kemp and bought Flynn Young into the side but perhaps with Hayward going out, they wanted that extra mid sized marking option.

McAndrew is 210cm and although 201cm, Thilthorpe is a monster of a man as second ruck. We'll still need the size around the ball. I suspect Reidy got suspended the wrong week. He had little opposition but he was good last week in the VFL

To the naked eye i would have said George 26 is not George 25 and his stats prove it

Don't need the stats. No where near it so far this year. Was a bit better last week but still looks out of sorts and by a bit.

Blind freddy knows that adulaide has cut us to ribbons recently. Need zac williams or similar to have huge running games. As an amateur meteorologist I don't think the track will be that wet tonight

I agree, but they must have a solid reason behind the selection; but the excitement about Flynn Young in the two's is a bit overrated I feel. His goals came from easy marks while leading and I can't see that happening against quality opposition.

That’s the entire point, his leads are well timed and at the ball carrier, I don’t see anyone else in the club leading as well as he does. This is why he deserves promotion, of course his well timed leads to space may not be honoured in the seniors, but he still deserves to be selected. What else can he do except playing well in the VFL?

When did we last beat Adelaide in Adelaide? I'm guessing early 2010s?

I swore off Gather Round after attending the first one.

I wonder how many teams we've actually beaten in our last encounter against them.
Wouldn't be many. Richmond, Essendon*, Eagles?

This is the Type of Game that We needed the likes of Hewett to be in.

Speed is not going to be a Factor tonight. Why are the Match comittee team thinking and selecting players like its a Dry Weather type of Game?

This is the only time when you really need all your heavy slow ball getters to play in one side. Get the ball and kick it long and then let it slide towards Goal.

If you want to be stupid and make a Statement due to poor form, then at least replace Hewett with a running player or a small, not HOK!!

There is just no logic left at this footy Club...... They might still make a late change given the weather?????
