don't shoot the messenger mate - re josh fraser named interim. it's just what went around on a group chat i'm in. there's a couple of ex players, current afl assistant coaches, some AFL fitness people & consultants a part of it, and someone from the blues too - although they don't say much anymore ever since GW came on board.

it's usually pretty good for inside info, but not gospel.

like last season voss was 100% gone at EOS when wright got signed in. but the coach he wanted said no, so that fortune cookie wasn't entirely correct.

I'm not shooting the messenger. Just providing a differing view. Too often the club has jumped at shadows and appointed an interim coach. How often has it worked?
As for your group chat, we've been through this before. You and others said Voss was definitely gone. I heard from someone within the club who has strong connections that Voss was definitely staying (which I posted).
The truth is probably somewhere in between.

yeah 100% ... voss himself told friends he was gone. maybe it was a gut feeling he had and that spilled over into our chat.
who knows.

i don't post much here about the group chat, unless it's mega interesting.

more stunning vision was the fact at centre bounces after HT we never once set up a mid on the defensive goalside in front of gawn. the whole league knows pitto doesn't / can't jump and barely contests after HT, so all gawn had to do was tap the ball forward into all that vacant real estate and let the fast demon mids to run onto the ball.

1:48 There are 2 players set up on the defensive side and Walsh gets sucked into the contest while Max just taps it forwards. I think this was late in the 2nd when they were already changing the momentum.

3:02 There are 2 players set up on the defensive side, but Cripps drops his tackle, Jagga goes to help and Pickett is left all alone. This was in the 4th.

On Kayo
3rd Q
First bounce. Hewett and Walsh are set up on the defensive side. Gawn taps sideways to his mid and they push forwards.
Next Stoppage. We have Cripps and Walsh set up on the defensive side.
After 3 min of the Q we get to Walsh in the F50 and Walsh misses a shot on goal 45m out.
After a further 1.5 min they move the ball down their end and Langdon kicks a goal.

2nd bounce. We have all 3 players set up on the defensive side, Gawn taps the ball to ground Pickett collects it runs, rolls, sidesteps and kicks to Latrell.

I’m sure if I went through the whole half I’d see a lot more, it wasn't set up, it was outclassed.

Sure , Vossy aint travelling too well at the moment but the blokes I've mentioned waiting in the wins are totally underwhelming for mine .

Oh , I forgot , the other option Simpson . Listen to him on the radio , he's bored to tears by AFL these days . Geez , I'd sooner get Ratts back into the joint . At least he'd give a fruck .

Yep.
My issue with Simpson is he couldn't coach a bottom ladder side with some pretty good talent out of their hole, so how the hell will he coach us out of ours.

Me too Mick. Biggest mistake to this day was to sack him. Most ex-CFC players still speak highly of that period and the injuries he copped the last year.
Stupid decision and we are still paying for it.

Agreed SB, Ratts had us playing the "modern game" before it was a thing, Madhouse took us back to the stone age. Sliding doors.

it's true, he was ahead of his time... i never thought of ratts bruise free, wide open run and spread in waves as cutting edge at the time. but that's exactly what the afl is today.

We were @#$%&! exciting to watch! I loved seeing us play, even when the results didn't go our way. Couldn't believe how many on this site wanted him gone - it had already happened by the time I joined, but I was in the minority who rued the decision.

He had to go, if only for his own good. A really good coach, but the weekday man management was not a strength.

Interesting bit on Voss and Carlton on AFL 360 tonight.
Simmo gives us some great insight, go to 23min mark.
There is more Carlton stuff at the very start also.

Not liking this conflict of interest that Adam Simpson has right now.

It really was a terrible decision to sack Ratts for one-step-in-the-coaching-grave Mick malthouse. Having said that, Ratts didn't set the world on fire at the Saints.

Voss has always talked cliches and ungrammatical, on-off sentences but his pre-game rhetoric was next level this week. Not sure if he's putting the 'glass half-full' rhetoric in the bin or revising it given how ungrammatical his sentences are. I thought in the post-game interview he said enough with the positive spinning, but it's back.

Apparently it was only 13 minutes of poor footy that cost us against Dees. The other 3 and a half quarters were top-notch. in what universe does Voss think hs lives where anybody is buying that crap?

During the post-game presser he was asked about Dees being fitter, running more etc. His response was classic deflection. We had our best running side out there on the park, so that can't be it. there's at least two levels of stupid about that response. firstly, our runners might not be to the standard of Swans, Tigers and Dee runners. Secondly they might not be positioning and manning up even if they can keep up with them.

Third and most significantly, what about the fitness and lack of speed of our 'non-runners' in the team? we may have a midfield, including Pitto and the followers who cannot run out a game to save themselves. Cripps and Hewitt don't run both ways. Cerra is okay and defensive minded, but at the same time he's not on a par with Gulden, Warner or Heaney.

What if all our players are so gased by the second qtr/half that they lose confidence at the first dropped uncontested mark, missed goal by a guy paid $400k+ p.a. to kick goals, or missed tackle? "We played our best running team" is defensive minded b.s. and as I said, a deflection. I don't expect Voss to give up state secrets, but can he stop gaslighting us, please?

As I said, once sacked, he should put his hand up for preselection. Deadset politician.
