2 weeks with an early plea apparently.

Two weeks of VFL matches or two weeks of AFL matches? Big difference

Derksen over Gov for me.

Do they play the same role though? I don’t see it that way.

I think it’s a choice between Derksen and L.Young. We can only play them both if Weitering doesn’t come up. It’s up for debate, and not a popular opinion, but I would have L.Young very slightly ahead of Derksen at the moment. That could easily change quickly though. In time, Derksen might also be an alternative option to Kemp up forward. But I don’t think he’s competing for the same spot in the team as McGovern.

I think McGovern’s spot will come under serious scrutiny when Haynes, Cowan, Carroll & Newman are match fit and available.

In the match on Wednesday night, metres gained:
- Derksen: 322
- McGovern: 325

Possessions
- Derksen: 18
- McGovern: 17

Derksen more composed with ball in hand, better defender and by a fair bit, and doesn’t seem to have brian fades or sh1t the bed when the pressure is applied. Can play forward as well. I wonder who we should pick?

Who was it that kicked the ball out straight to a cats player? I missed that as i was too busy swearing.

Its normally McGovern isnt it? McGovern or Lewis Young i would say.

I currently dont stress when Derksen has the ball. But when McGovern or Young have it, my stomach is on the floor.

Traveller86 - Bahahaha good one.

Look i like McGovern but he shits me to tears with the dumb shit he does. He is talented and sometimes i think he takes the piss with what he does. Then he laughs about it. Same as Acres.

You are letting your team mates down so dont laugh.

Cant imagine Dean or Derksen laughing if they stuff up.

And we should have learned from last year. The young ones gave us freshness and enthusiasm, and then when the senior players come off injury and come back we start losing again.

I am happy with our young players, they are all close and enjoy playing together.

Lets feed off that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be fair, Gov can play forward too and has kicked some swags; he was our most accurate set shot by a distance when not getting kneed in the bonce

Foll: Pittonet, Walsh, Smith
Int: McGovern, Hewitt, Lord, Reidy, Evans
Emerg: Fogarty, Boyd, Byrne

If Weiters is available then Dean comes out. It's nice that Flynn Young is banging down the door. I'd be interested to know where Billy Wilson is as there are opportunities.

Not bad, but I don’t think we need Weiters, Young, Derksen, and Gov in the same team. I’d bring Boyd in for a bit more run and his kicking out of D50. Probably for McGovern

To be fair, there is a reason we moved him away from the forward line.

I've got a feeling that Dean will play now regardless of whether Weiters comes back. It will be interesting to see how they squeeze them all in.

Na Sidey , definitely not worth contesting . I was at the Magoo's praccy yesterday and the incident happened right in front of me . It was a clumsy act from a rusty footballer who badly timed his run . And what made it worse he was airborne when he slammed into the kid . Great credit to the Geelong boy who was under the ball and stood his ground knowing he was gonna be crunched . Very courageous lad . Newmans reaction said it all . He stood there non plussed with that " what the fruck have I done " look on his face . New instantly new he frucked up . Cop it and move on .

Thanks Mick.
Can't do much with that.
Delayed start it is.

Isn't it usually both?
That is why Ben Campo didn't get a run in the seniors last year IIRC.

For most of the offseason I’ve been dreading this game.

But after the preseason and it looking like we might actually be getting our shit together to be a modern AFL club, in true supporter fashion, I’m actually going to be really disappointed if we don’t win.

Like the Bris OR game in ‘24, hoping we can pull off the upset.

it'll be interesting, this game. feels like our culture has shifted. we stayed with voss, maybe gave him more control to set the cultural tone in the club. wright bought in ... traded out malcontents (not that tdk was, he was just offered wayyyy more $$ than he'll ever be worth) and topped up our list with more modern players and depth.

preseason was good. no big massive injuries. jagga looks like the next coming of jesus christ himself.

if we buy in to the levels of camp curnow circa 2023 ... maybe we make the 8.

our achilles is:

we're very thin at ruck and KPD. harry had an ordinary preseason. but like his brother. what you see is what you get; a soft-centred up and down footballer who's very best and very worst are very far apart.

we're due for some good health and year two of the new S&C guy should bear fruit ....

as for swans. we go horrible at the sgc. so not expecting a win. but it'd be great to keep curnow quiet and give ourselves a platform to launch into the tigers at the G
