Yep new board. Please. For how we finished last year and this year, clearly its a no brainer that Voss goes. And Lloyd too. And i would go as far as saying Austin as well.

Players are tired and unmotivated. Coaches are responsible for that.

Players wanting out. Coaches are responsible for that.

And yes Players are responsible for us being shit too. I know that. But disgruntled people can get motivated and sold a vision. This is not happening at the club and changes need to be made. Quickly.

Clean sweep. 5 hrs to make that decision is benny hill kind of funny.

Nah , not askin" for a clean sweep . Just sayin" there is a bad imbalance in the board . We need a couple of ex players in there with football knowledge to correct that imbalance . The current mob are very good on the business side of things which is great . But we are a Football Club first and foremost and thats where our main focus should be . I"m happy for the current board to focus on the business side of things but add a couple of commited explayers to drive footy stuff . They are currently out of whack .

There’s just so much to pay for these days Mick. The role of the board is a far cry from yesteryear.

Academies… women’s teams… Ex-players with the right chops are a rarity.

It’s the salaried staff that drive the football side of things.

Correct. Board meeting discuss football programs (men and women) facilities, membership, marketing, sponsorship etc etc etc. All areas would be reporting to the board. Usually a drink/feed afterwards.
FMD, I've sat in on suburban football board meetings that go for multiple hours. To suggest the length of this one means the coach is definitely walking is naive to the process IMHO.

I’ll tell you this much for nothing, I wouldn’t want to be the only board member willing to comment. Throw away line or otherwise.

Let's not jump at shadows.

Wright begins his new job next week and he's spent 6 weeks surveying all aspects of the club in preparation. This is the board meeting before he begins, so you don't reckon he had a bit to say? The fact that it took five hours is pretty encouraging; to my ears it means they really got into it.

Maybe they decided to sack everyone, but maybe not.

The timing is coincidental. The length is good. All we can do is wait and see.

Also, the fact that there hasn't been a whisper from inside the club as to what happened yesterday (despite multiple journalists hanging out around the bins and making calls to all and sundry) is a very encouraging sign. It means everyone is alinged and no-one feels the need to leak to the press just because they didn't get their way.

The Carlton Football Club can today confirm with absolute clarity that its AFL Senior Coach Michael Voss will remain coach of the Blues into the 2026 AFL Season.

As communicated by the Club in June, incoming CEO Graham Wright has been maximising the final eight weeks of the home and away season to work closely with the football department.

This has involved clear consultation with players, coaches and staff, producing valuable insights into where the AFL program currently sits, and the necessary steps that need to be taken to take the team forward.

“We were clear following Round 16 that we would utilise these remaining games to make calm, rational and fully informed decisions that will take our football club forward and that is what we will continue to do,” Carlton President Rob Priestley said.

“The first of these has been in relation to our Senior Coach, which we are now in a position to provide clarity on following last night’s scheduled Board meeting.

“Last night, Graham presented a recommendation to the Board of Directors that Michael remains as our Senior Coach into next season.

“This recommendation was unanimously endorsed by the Board.

“For the last few months Graham and Michael have been meeting regularly, during which time they have been engaged in open and honest dialogue with one another on what is required for us to evolve as a football side.

“Michael’s ability to lead our football club this year in the face of incredible pressure has displayed the attributes of a strong and selfless leader.

“Carlton always comes first for our coach, and Graham and Michael share a clear and aligned view on the opportunities to improve football performance.

“We want to make it absolutely clear that Michael Voss is the coach of the Carlton Football Club and he will remain the coach of the Carlton Football Club.”

good decision.

Board have been doing a great job 'off the field'' . Suggestions otherwise are non sense. This year has been painful 'on field' and time for tweaks or changes.

In the first instance supporting and empowering Wright is a sign of a good board.

Confirming Voss seems to make sense, however I am looking forward to the whole plan over the coming months (football department, assistant coshes and list) to better understand our direction.

Is "feathers will fly" a hint or a mere turn of phrase?

He's only out for a year, bit early to be replacing him, let alone with a 54 year old
