sounds like Walsh and Durdin found some plum form. Hewitt and Cripps continue with their excellent form. unbelievable how depressed Blues fans on this site are. a ten goal win isn’t good enough for you. a win is a win. a ten goal win is a ten goal win. even against an immature opposition.

Wait until next week if you think that style of football will help us.
Yes it was 11 goals, but that says more about them than us.
Our F50 work is woeful, yes we have injuries but let's not lose perspective on where we are really at as a club.
A lot of work to do, if possible.

i never said this means we are a too 4 club this season. i’m just saying the pessimism and gallows humour around here is pathological at times. i’m not getting carried away. but it does show we are doing some things right and just need to improve ball movement during transition and into the forward 50.

some of our lesser players commit a lot of skill and decision making errors, granted. if we can improve the bottom six in this team we improve a lot. bulldogs are currently a goal up on Brisbane and we’re five goals up at half time. them and halls could well be top 4 finishers and we only got flogged due to second half fade outs. i think Walsh was right, the work ethic of the players needs to be there to fix this and he led from the front today. three first goals is in heard of for Walsh. he was hotter than a pistol in that first half, which means he’s starting to overcome injury, surgeries and missing bits of the last two preseasons, i think three of toast four seasons have been interrupted for Walshie. good to see him back with a four quarter, leaders ship grade impact on the ball. and he must have gone to work on his kicking too, he’s been pretty average until this game at disposal and goal kicking. maybe the media scrutiny stung him into deeper resolve and commitment a little bit.

We are in a 'refreshing the team' phase with 7 players under 50 games so any win is a good one. Lord, White and Carol will have learnt a bit. Shame Boyd was also not out there... and Jagga of course.

We managed to balls up certain goals and looked to give them a few easy looks. Cant complain after a 12 goal win that Carlton line up though.

Cant see us beating the Roos next week but I will be looking for green shoots.

Was that the worse 71 point win you have ever seen
Hewett is a star
Good to Walsh hit the scoreboard
Weiters and JSOS Good down back
Actually like Motlop at centre bounces

Charlie slowly coming back
TDK looks banged up
Carroll was pretty good looks impressive
Saad had a better game
Doc still turned it over to much
Durdin was brilliant let's hope he gets a run at it

Kicking at goal abysmal should have won by 100

I thought that the umpires were kind to us

Worry is Mackay Kemp and Lord looking like he was on crutches with moon boot

I only watched the final quarter and thought exactly the same ...

At times we were witches hats to them, but at times we were great. I still feel like they are playing as individuals not as a team though. McGovern still is crap, despite that goal

As I said
The worst opposition I have seen
Skill level terrible
Effort the last 40 min almost non existent
If I was West Coast I would trade Harley Reid for two first rounders
He ain’t interested
The captain is overrated but he will attract a first rounders
What I’m getting at is West Coast are so bad that a win is meaningless
Compare this game to Thursday Fridays matches or Brisbane’ s win over the Dogs
We are not in the same ball park

So that's wc 2 out of last 3 and possibly wc and north 4 out of 4? issues compared to the front runners but a wins a win and losers can please themselves

Both QLD teams ran over their opposition in the heat.

Westcoast were terrible. We didn't even really try either. Tackle numbers for the game were ridiculously low.
Good to get a game into the new players though.

Both against this hapless side.

Nothing to read into today's game.

Back it up next week and the week after, and the week after that, and then we'll talk.

Until then, getting excited over today's win is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Nobody's getting excited. Nobody's saying we're back.

But being miserable and calling the team pathetic after a 71 point win is horse shit. I envy people who have the opportunity to go to gather round, so to see many of you posting nothing but negativity really pisses me off, frankly.

Been at a family wedding.

Rapted to have won. Desperately needed.

Pleasing margin in the end.

Hewitt Walsh Durds very good.

Thought our skill level, entries in to f50 and pressure/intensity was very poor. Dont think we’d beat any other AFL side playing like that.

We did we gotta did.

Loved Walsh, Hewett, Cerra, Durdin, a banged up Crippa, a bored and hardly needed Weiters, a much improved Gov, Saad off the leash for a change, JSOS the Weiters-lite...

I like White. Glad he finally nailed a shot when he didn't have time to think about it.

Mots really needs to do better at this stage but the move to the middle showed promise - just throw him in there in short bursts. Fog also still needs to nail his chances but he was okay.

Charlie...the mercurial enigma...capable of the spectacular and WTF was that handball? Oh, well...

Harry will be back and better but I feel for Kemp, who looked like becoming a useful regular, even if he wasn't making a big impact in this one.

Bank the win, do the homework, and get much better for next week. There's obviously plenty of work still left to do.

Hewett had an absolute picnic. Got the ball as he pleased & when he did, had no pressure on him at all

Mcqualter really has the job ahead of him....at times this year we've been sloppy but west coast completely lost their structure for long periods today.

Pretty terrible game but nice to see durdin have a win & Carroll's very impressive debut. Charlie just looking like he could have a big month too.

Good to not have to avoid the footy media this week.

There was absolutely ZERO improvements from the last 3 Weeks.....How delusional Carlton fans can be to even find positives from this Game!!

We were playing an under 12 Team, so of course our midfielders were going to have a field day and Entry to our 50 is a lot easier... But let's Get real... This is what I saw today:

* Awful Skill errors and Turn overs from the usual offenders- Docherty & McGovern Slaughtered the ball on many occasions

* Awful Kicking for Goal

* Terrible Tackling

* How easy it was for the Eagles to find un-marked Men behind our Defenders for easy Goals

* Confused Players that still can't put it together

This Game can be summed up by the Goal Owies Kicked. Please Watch it again.... He danced through 4 Defenders, Broke 3 Tackles with ease and kicked a Goal.

Horrible game, but winning is better than losing. West Coast are unbelievably bad. Not sure the Tim Kelly omission was the greatest move, but enough of them. Happy to take the soft kill and move on. Walsh excellent. JSOS and Weiters good. As were Cripps and George. Durdin our best forward.

I won't bring up the negatives again. They were highlighted enough in the match thread.

Not quite sure were out of the doldrums just yet, but as I said earlier, winning is better than losing

i am sorry to say but Will White is not an AFL player.... He can't kick and has Zero influence in our forward Line!

Currnow looks shot.... He does not look normal. He can't do half the things he used to do in the past. I am sure he is playing injured.

Mckay looked so far off it as well. So Pale & Skinny as if he lost 30kg in a Week. I didn't feel he wanted to be there!

Really? It’s unbelievable how depressed blues fans are? Are you serious? We’ve just won our first game from 5 attempts in a year that our rebuild is supposed to be complete and we are supposed to be contending. The list looks like it has already peaked and we are on the decline with an outdated game plan. We are still rubbish at moving the ball into the forward 50 m and we still push way too far up the group and get burned on the rebound. A win over the bottom side who has finished 16th, 18th, 17th the past 3 seasons does little to remedy our concerns

Is that the same McGovern who had 20 kicks and 3 handballs at 95.7% with 668m gained and 1 turnover?

I watched The Gov a bit yesterday
No pressure so had a good one
Played on Waterman who did clunk 12 and should of kick 3
Don’t get me wrong McGovern did do some great stuff
The thing is the guy has zero stamina
He is gassed after one effort

Pleased to get the win.

My contribution to the McGovern discussion... He played well. In a game with very low pressure. Unfortunately for Mitch, that's where he's at. He's a good footballer. And when circumstances suit, he can be an excellent footballer. But we have too much evidence over the course of his career to say that when the pressure is on he's shaky.

West Coast aren't much chop, but hopefully we blew out some cobwebs and got the soft kill we needed to get a bit of momentum into the season.
