Austin drafting has been terrible if you go through every player he has drafted or traded in are no good
How he could give up 3 first round picks for jagga is out of this world and after talking to a family friend who is currently at a club who I won’t name as part of their recruiting team said they paid way overs for him

Sorry, but we didn't give up 3 first rounders and if your family friend knew what they were talking about they'd at least know that.

We traded our future 1st and second 2025 picks for pick 14 to go with our pick 12.
We then traded pick 12 to West Coast and pick 14 to Tigers for Baker to go to West Coast, plus Owies and some change.
For pick 3 and two late picks.

So if we finished 8th this year (same as last year), we gave up pick 12 & 30 (2025), pick 73 (2024) and Owies to trade from pick 12 to pick 3 and picks 63 and 68 (all 2024).
Pick differential from 3 to 12 is 1249 (pick 12).
Pick 30 plus pick 73 (in 2024), less 63 and 68 is equivalent to pick 38 (2024)

So essentially we overpaid pick 38 and Owies for Jagga.
At the time I would hardly call that way overs.
And if we finished top 4 this year it would've been even less, not that it will happen now.

In hindsight with us being this crap we may well be paying our 2024 1st and 2025 second for him as extras if we finish 16th.
Which would be equivalent to pick 4 in 2024 numbers.

Still only 2 first rounders though, as heavy as it is looking like it will be.

The only issue I have with this trade is we seriously over estimated the list last year and didn't address our midfield issues with mature quick players while Jagga had time to step into AFL.

Spot on

We over estimated the list, hence our position on the ladder this year. But we did also know our list was going to be turned over with 19 contracts expiring end of this year, and 13 end of next year.

Maybe Austin was planning a flag in the last year ear of Crippas Current contract: 2027.

Pea heart players, or boys bodies against men, whatever, the players lost a lot of battles.

Someone in the Pies rooms said after the match the Pies decided to block the corridor and the blues kept wanting to go through the corridor.

That happened 2 years ago when Vossy was ridiculed and laughed at by Sidebottom for Carlton arrogantly choosing to go doen the corridor and kicking to Moore all game. I think he took 15 intercept/ non contested marks in that game.

Voss has fallen on his sword. Repeating the same action and not thinking quick enough to change proceedings is on Voss. He has instructed the players and the players are too dumb to see a road block ahead, or they have been instructed to do so, in the hope some get through.

Well Vossy, hardly any went through in the 3rd. I couldn't believe we were trying to break the wall in the contest with forward handballs. They looked good, only to be defended by Pies numbers behind the ball. The were hitting a wall, ad nauseum. It was crazy to see after 10 minutes, because nothing changed from Carlton.

Embarrassing. Moreso, embarrassing is I expect Vossy to continue to play "his way" next week, like he does, next half, when the players know oppo coaches will, as usual, plan to counter "his way".

That's arrogance and stubborness.

As for the players ... see Sydney Blues list above. Cripps wasn't right, and poor guy, he gets held by oppo when he doesn't have the ball. That has to stop. Happens to Cerra and walshy. Rarely to Hewett. It has to stop. Fix the rules AFL

We can turn this around, if we and when we coach to win the game.

I use to really like Nick Daicos till I saw him baiting our players and hitting them off the ball...no one really retaliated in a smart way.

Getting absolutely roasted at work today. Laughing stock of the league once again.

What a pleasure it is to be a Carlton member and supporter.

I quite liked Lord's game early. Then he went quiet after a while, which he has a bit of a habit of at this stage

Footy Aside, did anyone see the Two Morons that walked into the G with fully loaded Guns?

What kind of an idiot would do that? I bet you they were Carlton supporters as one was from Roxy and the other from Broadmedows.

Pros:

Trying to move the ball quickly at times.
Coaching panel at least tried a couple of new forwards.
Saad and Walsh.
Hewett, Oli, Lord, SOJ.
Better games from Acres and Docherty.
White actually plays like a modern small forward, unlike the others we have.
Williams showed he can still play defence.

Cons:

The effort levels have been reasonably high up to this week. Looked like they fell away.
Inaccuracy again (at least the opposition matched us).
Inability to score, especially after halftime.
Cripps looked like he couldn't bend over.
Not enough from TDK, Cerra, Fogarty, Motlop, McGovern, Moir, Charlie, Young.
Cowan's injury.
I don't know what's worse. Naicos squealing for a free every time he gets near it. Or the Collingwood crowd. It reminds me of Essendon* crowds when Hird was playing.

if we're plucking positives. i thought walsh was back close to his best last night.

it's been a hot little minute since he's stood up and tackles and been strong through the hips in contact. i thought he was much more thoughtful with his disposal due to maybe the extra confidence he had he could stand in tackles?

either way, 17 disposals at 72% accuracy at HT is him well on his way.

after HT we were abysmal. same old story. oppo coaches stop our corridor use, get naicos set free with their clever blocks around stoppage, and our coaching is deer in the headlights, powerless to counter those moves, and completely void of plan B and C when our A is found out.

Watch the ruck duels in the 3rd. Cameron killed TDK and set up the win. Used the same tactic every ball up. TDK looked frustrated and lost.

Yes , couldn't believe how easily Cameron mauled TDK . By the kook on TDK"s face he couldn't believe it himself . Like a stunned mullet . Anyhow , if he does go I suggest we have a look at the Reeves from the Hawks .

Yep most of my child patients know I’m a fanatical Carlton supporter. These kids were giving it to me today. Just so happens I ordered an unusually large number of blood tests today. Purely coincidental

Maybe Elijah rooted Harry's missus?

Ha ha. Most under-rated word rooted. Should be used more in general conversation
Reminds me of a Japanese exchange student we had staying with us a few years ago who spoke no English at all. As you do you like to help out with appropriate social greetings. I taught her to respond when people asked how she was doing with the phrase “I’m rooted”. My same age daughter and her friends thought it was hilarious, not so much my wife…..

Yesterday at school, some of my Yr 7 students were giving me light-hearted grief about the Blues. If detentions were still a thing, they would have copped it
