I also noticed that passage from Young - same old; indecisive
The MC back in 2022 had a lot of confidence in Young's ability to mark a ball.
Young was programmed to hold the ball till he sees a better option back in 2022. He use to rush it a bit.
He hasn't been able to shake that.
Someone has to get into his head, this preseason. I'm sure theres' drills he can do in the next few months to get him moving. If he doesn't, his name will be on the trade list again come seasons end.
Surely he watches replays with his line coach and they are talking about the problem he has, and the effect it has on the team's ball movement.
I’m not sure which Young you are referring to. He’s always been like a “deer in the headlights” when he’s holding the ball.
Mick Young...oh yeah, he's not with us anymore.
Lewis Young. He had his good times, when he was, as we all said, "doing well" filling in for McDonald after round 4. He wasn't hesitant like he became in 2023.
He got caught out playing on when he shouldn't and WAS advised to give handball off to Saady, Doc or Newman.
Maybe you are scarred by bad Lewis, and can't recall any good Lewis. He was OK early days. His confidence was totally shot around the so called wrath of Weitering.
We've sen him play with confidence. That's what I recall.
I agree Bondi. I feel for Young and only because of our supporters intent towards him.
He looks great in some of the training vids I’ve seen so far.
Lewis has shortfalls we all recognise. He also has much needed attributes, some choose not to recognise. He's quick, 200cm and a very good mark and spoiler.
Those attributes are my reasons why he's a strong possibility as a KPD.
I doubt Vossy is a fan, given he was up for trade, but Vossy keeps picking him in the 23 when needed, so he's not the write off some choose to believe.
We have yet to fulfill the 2 vacant spots on our list, and we have KPD's Phillips and DBG and KP McMahon vying for one of those spots.
The fact SOS is also training with the defenders tells me Vossy needs to increase options for the 1 vacant KPD spot, and have a look.
I have no doubt SOS will make it as a KPD because of his footy IQ and his strength making up for a lack of height.
I have no doubt Haines is a better 3rd defender than Gov and Kemp.
I don't think Lewis will be our KPD at the start of the season, but he's still on our list, and whilst anyone is on our list, there's hope: see Liam Jones.
