We’re going to have to get every pick right to compete with Brisbane.
They’re my tip for the next two flags.
Let’s hope we finally strike a rich yield in the diabolically unfair father-son rule with Camporeale.
The AFL’s socialist designed competition results in two key distortions
1- father-son rule.
Will Ashcroft - just hand over a few picks in the 30s -34, 36 and 38 and bingo ! You get the best young player in the comp.
Levi Ashcroft has played in 3 flags with Sandringham Dragons.. walks straight into Lions team.
Thank you kindly says the Lions.. we’ll hand over pick 48, 49 and 50 for him ( or whatever the match bid states)
2- academy
3- on top of this, Lions recruit well. Combined.. it’s a 3 headed monster.
Our only hope is if Brisbane have injuries & if Daniher retires. And Curnow & McKay are in devastating form in the finals.
https://www.afl.com.au/news/1225051/bri ... aight-flagStop moaning every year in every thread that it’s factors outside our own doing holding us back.
Brisbane were 5th after the minor round and should have lost 2 of their finals. They are not some AFL manipulated freak show that have been gifted the next 5 flags. Sydney and GWS have won just one between them in 20 years.
Hawthorn, WB, Melbourne, Geelong, Richmond, Collingwood have all won the majority of the last 15 years of flags with zero academy assistance and the occasional father/son.
We’ve used #3 on Dow, #5 on SPS, #10 on LOB, #11 on Kemp/Philp, as well as late 1st/early seconds on Marchbank, Stocker, Cuningham, Fisher, Setterfield who have all left the club.
Then there has been some recent FA and trades in Cerra and Williams that have yet to work out as hoped.
Not withstanding all the other factors - High performance, development, coaching, culture, leadership etc that make up all the layers of a Premierhsip side.
