I'm with you Surrey.

Something not right about this non appeal, given it looks easier to appeal than most others who have had their verdict overturned.

I keep thinking about the phone call Richard Colless received from Mike Fitzpatrick after Franklin signed with Swans instead. Nothing short of threatening and abusive. Richard still laughs at Fitzpatrick's Machiavellian approach but it was no laughing matter at the time, especially after Cola ended for Swans. This is the sort of power the AFL Commission weilds. That's why I want the commission dismantled and made to be more transparent, accountable, fair and democratic.

AFL Commission has its prints all over this non appeal.

Agree with you Bondi. The commission is corrupt and the sooner it is replaced with all 18 club presidents the better. Every club needs a fair and equitable voice within the AFL board. Only way.

The AFL realised St Kilda stuffed up by not doing a concussion test on Higgins, and did not want that part of the story to grow legs, hence why i think they put pressure on us not to appeal

Maybe the deal is don’t complain and we’ll let Crippa have another Brownlow?

Surprised & more than a touch disappointed they're not doing the same for this. Maybe they will if we progress further into the finals?

The prelim was a late arvo game - 5pm. Council can be real pricks for the sake of an hour or two.

Plus, it’ll be getting pretty wild this weekend - windy enough to knock cocky off his perch.

Should my cocky be worried?

This is the first year since its introduction that I'm happy for the pre-finals general bye.

From Voss' interview on the cfc website, you'd suggest Charlie, Harry, Gov, Williams all straight back in as blokes who have played most of the year. Cerra, TDK, Martin, Doc are all maybes, but expect some of them to play.

On the ‘form ladder’ for the last two months of the season, we are a bottom six team. It’s nice to think we can turn that around in a final, but it’s a big big ask…

Not enough of our players have had the continuity needed to make an impact in September. Playing catch up with injuries never works.

And while Brisbane in Brisbane isn’t as scary as perhaps it was, it is still one of the tougher gigs in footy.

It will be a bloody famous win if we can pull it off somehow….

This times a billion. I wish it was a month. The more teams that lose momentum the better. A hard reset works to our benefit, not just in terms of injury.

I'd take a risk on Martin.

Our small forwards are

Durdin - doubt he'll play given how hampered he looked v Saints
Motlop - his best is good but he's out of form
Williams - good player but returning from injury
Fantasia - does some nice things, wish he did so more often
Moir - looks great, probably sub again if he plays

I think we need Martin to add some spice to the forward line

I'd give Moir a whole game.

We have little to lose this year being such underdone underdogs and I'm sick of us being conservative with young players.

The guy's shown more in two quarters of football over the last two rounds than most of the rest of the team.

If, and I understand it's a big if, he could translate that into a full game it'll go a long way to getting us over the line.

He's fit, in form and enthusiastic.

Roll the dice for once.

@GWS, Vossy explicitly said Moir isn't ready for 4Q. Do you think he's playing mind games, or just being honest? I like him as a sub, I'd keep him in the role. Especially if Martin plays.

As others have pointed out, how many of our more experienced small and medium sized forwards make it through four quarters?

Why not play Moir from the start and if he blows up, sub in Martin? It’d certainly send a message.

I don’t think Voss is playing mind games.

I think he’s an honest guy and he honestly doesn’t have enough faith in kids or the courage to take an occasional risk with them.

If you look at our young players since he’s been at the club, most have made their debut when we’re desperate and have nobody else.

I can’t quantify it, but it seems to me that teams that win flags take more risks than we do.

Really? I missed that, when did he say this?

I’d also prefer Moir to play a full game as I feel his upside and durability is better than Motlop or Durdin right now.

my biggest grip is how risk adverse voss and Co are ... no dare. and when have done so (mostly forced upon bcos of injuries or chasing a game) we've looked good (that 9 game win streak last season, the last two games of this season).
