Only thing with Cerra and Cottrell injured is can select fit players. We rushed them back after missing huge chunks of the year and we've lost our run, and often run out of puff. At least we finished off today. They weren't playing when we crushed Geelong.

On a positive note I thought O Hollands and Kemp were much better tonight.

Good question that I have given up on 2 years ago.

Should have been 50

Best I can find:

https://southernfootballleague.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/2024-Laws-of-Australian-Football.pdf

Quote:
20.5.2 Moving Off The Mark While a Player is Kicking for a Goal
If the Player standing The Mark moves off The Mark whilst a Player is in the act of Kicking
for a Goal, the following shall apply:
(a) if a Goal is Kicked, the field Umpire shall signal ‘All Clear’ and a Goal shall be
recorded; and
(b) if a Goal is not Kicked, the Player may elect to take another Kick, in which case the
Player shall also be awarded a Fifty Metre Penalty.

Who knows what 'moving off the mark', means?

However...

Quote:
The Mark: the position on the Playing Surface where a Free Kick or Mark has been awarded...
awarded...

Quote:
Playing Surface: the field of play inside the Boundary Line, Goal Line and Behind Line,
excluding the area between such lines and the perimeter fence.

I thought I was past being embarrassed to be a Carlton supporter.

I only watched the first half so can't comment on the rest of the game, but when you have Motlop and Cripps taking shots at goal from 55m it just illustrates how dumb some of the decision making is with this group.

Not disappointed to see Cerra and Cottrell out. We have been no good since they come back. Not that I wish injury on anyone. Now pick some fit players that can run.

I was thinking similar. Didn't the defender (sorry not sure who it was), kick Gov in the side or near the side of his face or head? Yes it was accidental, but it was in the act of Gov marking.

Could have been 50?

At the very least it was very, very clear Gov was very groggy and should not have been allowed to take the kick?

So our losses have been: 2,13,6,52,12,14,14,3. Limp into the 8 and we can beat anyone. Keep your head up like our Captain.

The more I think about it, why didn't one of our leaders come in & demand the kick??

If he misses next week with concussion it'll be telling.

We are a dumb, soft, slow, unskilled side that is badly coached.

WTF has happened is anyone’s guess.

Supposed premiership contenders a mere weeks ago and now in complete and utter disarray. Season gone. Might sneak in to finals. Might.

Giving us nothing to trust, believe or or get behind.

No standards. Mentally fragile.

What leadership?

GAGF you bunch of cauliflower.

Agree. Gov was almost our best player tonight. That kick in the head while he slid in for the mark looked like it left him not at his best. I would have put any money on him kicking that goal. He is normally one of our best. Didn’t deserve to win it but should have snatched it. Absolutely gutted

Thats a very good question. Its almost like the "leaders" didnt want to step up and demand it like you say? Very concerning.

Regardless, horrendous kicking at goal, horrible effort, horrible coaching and way too many passengers today. If we stole a win at the end it would have been highway robbery.

We simply did not deserve to win.

It frustrates me a month or so ago, we were 2nd on the ladder. We had numerous chances to at least partly cement top 2. At the end of this round we may well be outside the 8.

WTF is going on?

There was nothing wrong with McGovern. Stop making excuses for him. He sh@t the bed. Enough already.

After watching the replay, not sure Cox was the first player to be standing the mark, either.

Well arguably he shit the bed by not having the guts to give the responsibility to someone else.

Anyway. It was our game for the other 3 quarters that lost it for us.

Kickouts from behinds consistently went to the pocket, then down the line. Effing rinse & repeat. Pies by contrast kept finding a loose player on a wing when they were clearing from defence. Some of their full ground transition was just embarrassing for us.

We're back to having hardly any good players to choose from again. It'll be Binns & Carroll probably.

Pray that Hawks have a tough slog tomorrow because their game style is just what we don't need
