And if I had to pick one I'd rather beat WBD.

I try and look at all this as logically as I can, which is difficult when you have been a supporter for 55 years.

All the stats and data indicate we are certainly there or thereabouts when it comes to being a good team.

Defensively, Offensively, Turnover, Contested Possessions, Clearances etc. We are tracking the same path previous successful Finals teams have travelled.

Sure we might have a hiccup between now and the finals. The gap between the ears always has a say in proceedings. But I think there is sufficient anecdotal evidence since Round 14 of 2023 to indicate that this group is committed to the task. They are committed to each other and importantly, they trust the Coaching group.

We certainly have a group that can get the job done.

Enjoy the ride and cross your fingers that fickle oval ball bounces the right way for us when it truly matters.

if we stay healthy we're right there abouts. no big injuries, and we'd have to be flag faves.

For the stats people out there........out of the 28 games, how many of those 22 wins were against teams above us on the ladder, at the time. That may indicate where the consistent progression sits, as an upward projection. When you factor in injuries to key personnel, it shows Vossy's 'Next man in", mentality works.

I am starting to have genuine belief that we can beat most teams as distinct from the hope I’ve had more in the past decades.
My only two concerns for the remainder of the year are 1) injuries and 2) that we have peaked too early.
But even on that second point, I am reminded of 1995 when many/most people thought we needed to drop a game and we couldn’t win 16 in a row to the flag.
And even after we smashed the Kangaroos by 10goals in the prelim, and having won 15 games in a row, IIRC Geelong still started the GF as favourites or certainly we weren’t the heavy favourites we should have been.

Not sure what you mean by 'nice try'.

I know a lot of people are coming from Melbourne, and I'm hearing them say they look forward to escaping the cold. ie they think they are coming to good weather.

My point is and I've told those Ive spoken with that its not much warmer in Sydney this week and be prepared to rug up and bring a rain coat. Should only be sporadic showers, but very cold at night, or cool for some. We're all built diufferent.

I'm heading to Canberra next week and the following week too for a bit of fun. I love that city. Weather in Canberra is nothing like Sydney. It's colder than Melb.

Sydney covers a huge land mass; bigger than London. Not sure which parts of Sydney you're referring to, but I'm on the coast, 6 kms from city, and its not mouldy here. Its all sand and the water disappears pretty quick.

I go to the beach regularly even during winter, and for me and my visitors from Melb it hasn't been a 'shit show'. Maybe we've been lucky or just carefree. Water temp now 19 degrees, but this polar blast is something else, so I'm sending out a warning ... Homebush is not near the city or the coast. So ignore the Sydney temp you see on the news.

GWS ground is a Boutique stadium, and it seems Carltonians are coming in bulk, and they will make the place rock...hopefully warm it up too.

I wouldn't be worried about peaking too early. I reckon peaking too early is when you come out of the blocks in the first half of the season and get out to 10 straight wins. That rarely carries through to September. We were pretty ordinary for the first half of the season but just managed to chalk up enough wins to be in a good position.

Scraped in against Brisbane after letting them get 46 points ahead, could gone either way and they really should have been able to ice it.
Scraped in against 2nd bottom Richmond, could have gone either way.
Scraped in against Freo and really got a gift from the umps.
Poor loss to Adelaide who only have 5 wins for the season.
Loss to Geelong.
Loss to Collingwood.
Belted by Sydney.

It's really only been the past 6 weeks that we've started to hit our straps. For me that's perfect timing. Most premiers are pretty dominant in the second half of the year, and virtually all of them finish top 4. You can't leave your run too late or you'll miss top 4, and from there it's almost impossible.

I also think we've been able to coast a bit which is great. We're not having to play 4 quarters of brutal bash and crash footy and kill ourselves just to get over the line like we were last year. We're putting the foot down in patches and killing teams off when we need to.

Also Geelong favourites in 95? I call BS

Vossy likes the position he's in to make sure there's pressure on spots, and still working on a few things. Players hear Vossy say we aren't the finished product...that's enough to keep them all on their toes.

I go to Sydney pretty regularly Bondi and have many friends and business associates there.

Every time I go over the last few years (since the first of the string of La Niñas) it’s been @#$%&! wet and miserable. All those weather patterns hanging over the length of the east coast have been stopping all the nice sunny winter weather from crossing the continent and instead it’s been pushed down towards Adelaide and Melbourne.

And when I’m not in Sydney I’m talking to someone from there and they’re complaining about how @#$%&! wet it is all the time. I visited a supplier in Mona Vale in February last year. We went to the pub for lunch. It wasn’t that long ago they did a renovation. The inside of the place was like a steam room from condensation and there was mould growing everywhere. Supplier said it’s everywhere.
