Some potential good news for DC. Maybe the tide is finally turning albeit slowly.

As I recall we went the same route with Andrew Walker - and he ended up having to go into surgery anyway - so valuable rehab time wasted.

I think it will be similar.
Giving it a crack b/c if he has surgery, he won’t recover in time to earn a new contract.
If he can string a few strong games together then he might. And then he can have surgery at end of year if req’d.
Taking a big risk but that is against a certain bad career outcome….

If he gets it strong enough to put together a string of games, then he’ll just keep adding to that work. Cutting him open at the end of the year won’t help him.

They might do a keyhole job to, in layman’s terms, take up any slack in the tendon (as it was with 1AW and Judd), but that’s it.

‘Fixing’ it is off the table. Just make it work & keep it working.

Might be the same injury but circumstances are different. DC is coming out of contract and season ending shoulder surgery would mean his Carlton career is over. If there is a 50% chance he can get back and manage the issue until the end of the season, it’s probably worth the risk. There’s no mechanism to replace him until the MSD anyway, so on this occasion it sounds quite reasonable to roll the dice on a non surgical option early in the season and see what happens (although I think we all know what is likely to happen).

I’m sure the surgeon will punch his loyalty card regardless. That’s just good business.

Would it kill the club to provide a refreshed, full injury update?
Every player, updated as of now (not Dec 12 for some players).

AR’s admin team has been reduced to just his personal secretary and the guy that holds his phone for him while he’s on the bog.

I think Tex went under the knife on the shoulder twice. His last op was the "Tractor Tyre".

Its a difficult decision to make: to op or to opt out of op....and wait to see what happens. A bit Russian Roulette for me.

They probably are keeping the injuries close to their chest because they don't want to telegraph to Bitchmond the likely make up of the 22.

Who's unavailable then?

By my count it's

Walsh
Williams
Cottrell
Boyd
Cunningham
Marchbank
C Durdin
Kemp

Philp & Fogarty too.

What’s been the issue with Kemp? He was a late withdrawal from the VFL game vs Collingwood and I never heard why.

Is Dow injured? I heard he got injured against the Swans but I don’t know to what extent and I never heard it confirmed.

Hopefully we get through today’s VFL practice match unscathed.

About a quarter of the list then.
Awesome.

The last 3 are the ones I want to hear about, there is a chance they are fit though none played in either of the pratice games.

Durdin likely won't play given Owies played last week and the rumour is Martin will play.

Marchbank might get a look in if they want extra cover for Weiters, Young and McGovern who surely will play (unless he pulls a hammy taking a dump on the toilet - don't laugh, it is very possible).

Kemp would be an ideal bench player given his versatility.

From the other thread, none of Little Durds, Marchbank or Kemp are playing VFL.
Assume then none have a chance to face Bitchmond next week.
