Tony Bourke got injured a lot. He also liked to party.

I only met Nicholson once and the only thing I remember about it was that he made no attempt to hide his dislike of Ken Judge

Meet big Wow Jones when he got sprung from Malmsbury to play for us . Actually worked with the big bloke . Didn't last too long in that job and he kicked on and moved up the ladder . Come across him a few times later on when he was mingling with the Suits . No matter to big Wow who always dragged me over in my work dungarees and introduced me to the multi's . Multi Millionaires that is . Nah , Wow was a party boy but and mixed in high circles but he never turned his backs on his former working class mates .

Good offseason thread BH

1993 I approached SOS in the social club to sign a footy jumper I'd bought for a mate's 21st. Pretty aloof & unfriendly, although admittedly I'd interrupted him & Diesel having a post training milkshake.

1995 Dallas Brooks Hall function for Sticks' 200th, after the Collingwood game in rd 1. I got really drunk & most likely made a tool of myself going up to the players & saying hello, but recall Sticks, Mil, & Jack Elliot being great.

Just this year took my son to Charlie's clinic & all the players were good, Lachie Plowman probably the best & most talkative with the kids. Ed Curnow was strangely aloof to me when I tried having a chat, but I was kind of interrupting him taking kids through handball drills, so fair enough I guess.

My wife took the kids to an open training a couple years ago and says Plow was the standout interacting with the kids.

Every season when we come down to Melbourne with my young boys to watch Carlton train, Plowman's smile is contagious and his friendliness to the kids left indelible good impression. In fact, it was jack silvagni, Plowman and Walsh who made their day. Fish was good too. Autographs aplenty. Hey SPS was a treat too. I wasn't an autograph hunter when I was a kid.

After Rd 1 2003 there was an autograph session / training the next day and I went up for my first chance to interact with the players. I remember getting Jono McCormick's and Jarrad Waite's autographs, while Darren Hulme was sitting on a fence relaxing. I approached him and asked very politely, "Mr Hulme, could you please sign...?" He smiled and said there was no need to call him Mr Hulme, so after he signed I said "Thanks, Darren" and he chuckled a little.

Not exactly an autograph story, but from another thread...

Quote:
I had the pleasure of playing a round of golf with Michael Young 20 or so years ago at Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast.

Mick was teamed up to play with me and a mate, as he was there on his own (on holidays I presume). I remember him noticing that I was wearing a pair of Carlton socks, and also telling him about the Jack Newton Celebrity golf that was played there with players including Sam Newman and Mark Maclure taking part.

I felt a bit ignorant not knowing about his playing days with Carlton, let alone the fact that he was a premiership player. I began following the Blues in about '82, just after Mick's time at the Club.

Not long after the game of golf, I purchased an old footy card of Mick to remember what was a special day.

For the record, Mick won the golf.

RIP Michael Young

Collected many autographs as a little fella, you may recall a Richmond charity game played at Windy Hill (of all places). Got Doull and the Buzz that day.

As a Kernahan obsessed kid he always had time.

I reckon that was the day Billy Barrot played a half with both sides.
