People were losing their shit over the SPS trade but…
I get your point GWS but there have been enough players in the last decade who played well after being delisted or traded to make a case imo.
We needed them, and without them we fell in a hole.
I wouldn't rate what Carlton was doing too highly from 2015-2021.
I recall the years where 6 or so discarded ex players were kicking bigger scores than the Carlton team week in week out.
I missed Mitch Robinson when I saw what he was doing and what we were missing when he was kicked out by Malthouse.
The moment he walked in the door at Lions in 2015 he earned respect.
He had a great career at the Lions between 2015-2021.
He was in the leadership group. I'm talking leader who led the team into Finals from 2019.
Would easily have made our team in those years. He would've been one of our top 10 players imo.
Stocker had been getting sniffs from other club(s), as do many of our young, highly rated fringe players, and whatever he did to warrant instant dismissal is something we should judge when we know all the facts. He obviously rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, not just onfield, but obviously off field.
IMO, fan favourites like Stocker, like Silvagni are too slow for Finals footy and just depth players.
We need to keep improving our list. We all knew with the plethora of first round draft picks and first round imports that some were going to slip out of our hands. As long as its not the Walsh, Weitering, McKay, Curnow and Cripps types, I'm happy.
