So our season’s over….

how’bout that hey…done and dusted…!

finito la musika…pasato la festa…!

what can i say that no one else hasn’t
said yet…nothing obviously…but i feel the need
to help me…us…to deal with this in a way that’s
not pin pointing players and particular moments…!

because the funny thing is…those moments
will flicker in and out of our minds eye for
some time yet…!

when we LEAST expect it…!

“Why kick it there”…”why was he on his own”…
“How can you miss that”…”how the $#@& did
that ball bounce off our blokes shin at the perfect
angle so it ends up in the hands of their bloke
who kicks it straight to their forward for a goal”…!

you’ll evacuating your bladder…and as you’re
hitting the water you’ll say…”i don’t see how
hard it is to aim straight”…!

pouring a cuppa…”there ya go…all seems to
be in the cup”…!

handing someone a sock…”there ya go”…they’ll
then turn and say…”thanks for placing that sock
in my hand”…!

ALL that stuff…!

but folk…I’m not…”feeling” that today…I’ve
got no control over that…and it’s numbed me i guess…!

what i DO have control over…are my feelings…!

i know we all have our bag of hammers…
and sometimes the Carlton Football Club is
the only “exercise” we have to alleviate that
weight…!

i know i do…!

look…i don’t know why the hell i rely on
them to help me personally carry those
hammers…!

but the fact is…i didn’t choose Carlton FC…
they chose me…they wanted me to support
them…and for that…I’m eternally grateful…!

how’s that hey…when the football dice of life
was rolled…the Carlton FC landed on me…!

$#@& I’m proud…!

SO proud to be a supporter of the Carlton
Football Club…!

now…please humour me whilst I selfishly go
back to my feelings for a moment…!

two feelings in particular…one reasonably
sensible…they other bordering on a tad
irrational…!

lets go irrational first…!

folk…i don’t know how to say this…but I’m
feeling a little embarrassed…!

i know…a bit stupid hey…but i do…!

of all the emotional feelings right now…it’s
embarrassment that’s got me down to start…!

hey…anyone else felt this emotion…?

i mean…i had so much hope…i even did the MATH…
it was bloody obvious…we were going to play
finals…obvious…!

NOBODY misses from here I thought…not
since WE last did it in 77 sure…but geez…
that was YEARS ago…!

and if Split Enz taught us anything…it’s
History never repeats…sooo….hang on…
waitaminute…what the hell ya talking about
Tim…you Greta Scacchi touching bastard…!

it’s true though…I’m embarrassed to talk to
my friends…didn’t take a single call today…
didn’t even listen to the messages…!

two texts with Cee Kay and that was it…!

i don’t like this feeling…!

but the big one is…I’m clearly in mourning…!

I’m in %#@&ING mourning…!

mourning the early demise of what could’ve
been…what fruit we could bare this September…!

like the time The Chief and i were about to
replant a lovely little fig tree 20 years ago…!

The Chief wanted to whipper snip the small
area where we were digging the hole…but first petrol….!

he put the machine on the outdoor table so as
to not bend over…after over filling the tank…we were
ready…!

for some reason The Chief wanted to pull
start the snipper as it was on said table…
which worked perfectly ok as he revved
the crap out of it…!

slight problem though…that lovely little fig
tree happened to be on the ground near
the rotating whipper…and yup…you guessed
it…SNIP…!

cut it in two…done…over…fig no more…!

i kid you not…we were both so distressed…
we mourned that tree…it was so healthy…so green…
so ready to go…!

it was ready to bare fruit…!

i could taste it…Black Fig too…my favourite…!

dang folk…I’m sorry…but this has been a tough…
(HA…i was about to write 48hrs)…28 hours…and
lets face it…the only medicine we can take is
to watch the remaining games…and hope like $#@&
yesterdays winners don’t succeed this…”fruit season”…!

I’m going to eat Toblerone and Red Rock Deli sea
Salt chips now…!

take care folk…together we can do this…!

kindest regards tommi

when i can be bothered…I’ll tell yas about the skip bin
delivery guy this morning…!

poor bastard got me on the wrong day…the whole court
awoke with…”WHAT THE $#@& YOU DOING YOU $#@%ING”…
and so on…at 0700hrs….!

it was quite the scene man…!

That’s very therapeutic Tommi. Thank you

I texted a psychiatrist mate last night. I’m suicidal I need help. Bit histrionic I know but I can’t remember feeling as devastated after a game in all my years watching football. It was probably the Melbourne. Collingwood one two punch that did me in

His response. Don’t worry you’ll win next year.

Not helpful. What would he @#$%&! know……..

No mourning here, @#$%&! that shit, no one died, no bodies, no shock of a hand never to be held, lips not to be kissed, warmth lost to time and dirt...
none of that - and that's the thing, that's what keeps the bluebaggers ready to stand and cheer again, the days roll on, the sun returns and we
will stand again at the MCG beers in hand and sing that damn @#$%&! song... its just not going to be easy, that's all - and isn't that the point, the thrill, isn't that the exact ingredient this once mighty club forgot - it isn't easy - oh look at us in the 60's, growing worst in the 70's and 80's and then reaching the dizzing height sof blistering boils of schadenfreude with fat old Elliot popping them with the tip of his fabricated cigar - oh lets be truthful here at the end of another disaster, we thought it was @#$%&! easy. We thought it was ours for the taking, little bluebaggers Admans and Eves plucking GF apples like 70's hippies picking magiuc mushrooms - it was trippy, unreal and for us bluebaggers, not sustainable - and so the great fall - and how many books warn of the fall...well we fell.

But - and here is the point, the not mourning (besides the lack of a decomposing corpse, or failed love interest, or the old dog needing to be buried in the soil under the Sycamore tree, we are not dead. If this season has taught me 1 thing - we are not dead, its just...and this is maybe the hardest part for us, it just not that easy to be the best but look at us...we lost, yep, we are teased and tortured, finger-pointed and laughed at but we are not helpless, not a shambles, not a freefalling comet burning up in its own inflated grandiose dreams, we are Carlton and we are building...

So no, not mourning, anger, yep...plenty of that, we should have won both the final games and then there were other moments that glitter at night in the mind like black pearls hit with the light of what could have been!

But not dead. We are not dead. I thought we were, really, I remember saying to my son "this club is goning the way of Old Fitzroy, its irrelevant, its stuck in the past, its ready to be buried...I was wrong.

We breathe.
We hurt

but we also inflicted pain this year!

We showed real growth.

We are back...what we now have to understand is that we are back with the others, being back does not mean we have returned to that shining moment of plucking apples at will. Those days are dead and buried. But we are alive and we are developing...make the right choices...have a hint of luck and who knows, the next apple might not be as far away as we think.

This year I loved the footy, even that last damn game, there were moments, I mean that third...@#$%&! me...so no, not mourning, accepting, the road back is always harder then the fall. So I am angry and yet...and yet I wait for the summer to slowly erase the pain and I look forward to the New Year, the new hope, the new games..I love this damn football club and I think, I just think, its growing back into something worth loving.

I've been waiting for tommi's view and it didn't disappoint.

Yep. That's the thing I've been feeling that I couldn't put my finger on. It's embarrassing!!
Who misses the finals from 8-2? Who loses their last four games when they only needed to win one? Who has the team that they're fighting for the last finals spot win by THE VERY EXACT AMOUNT to overtake them on %?
Who the @#$%&! loses the last two games of the year in the dying seconds after being ahead with 2 minutes to go?
Who the @#$%&! lets their arch rival end their season by 1 pissing @#$%&! point?

Yep. We did.
If you tried to script it, you just couldn't.

sigh.

Hey Tommi, DB, thanks for the Mourn.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the year....and the ride in the last 2 games was massive despite the result.

Like other years, I bought a few more memberships for Melbourne friends without a team, which is most unusual, and took them to the footy whilst in Melbourne. They should have been Tigers or Pies or Effendruggies given their families barracked for those teams.

Converted. Addicted to Carlton now. And felt they the hurt and pain of the last 2 games like...like veterans.

I'm proud of the Navy Blue army.

We have risen from the dead.

That first game at the G this year....priceless.
Smashing the Swans....live...brilliant. Going back to sydney clicking my heals.
Spoiling the 15oth Anniversary of the Drug cheats...euphoric.
Beating the team 3rd on the ladder....Freo...we are the real deal.
88000 at the G and an 8 goal Premiership quarter....the audience was 800,000 and Carlton were on fire.

so many more great moments too.....

Bluebaggers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love youse all.

Bring on 2023, but before that we have the VFL game vs Pies for the boys next and the AFLW team vs Pies this Thursday to enjoy and yell...at the TV ... for me.

You know what. My highlight of the year was the noise level of our crowds.

Just awesome. Long may it continue

Over the past 4 or 5 years I have been watching the game with my headphones on listening to music. It started when I got sick of hearing morons (from both teams) yelling out utter rubbish. I responded a few times and that didn't go well. :fight: :fight:

As Mrs Caz rightfully says....."Darling you are the only one that can yell out real rubbish" :yikes: Enough said. I found the headphones keeps me calm, for the most part

My headphones are noise cancelling, so it is like my mini musical oasis.

After the game finished on Sunday, the lady that regularly sits infront of us stood up and said 'See you next year." I had to take the phones off to hear what she said....

HOLY @#$%$!!!!!

The noise from the crowd was like a Rock Concert turned up to 11. I was totally blown away by what I had missed. I asked Caz if it was like that all game. She said you should have heard it in the 3rd quarter, even louder.

I'm thinking the Club will be well on it's way to 100,000 in 2023, based on that supporter base.

Regards Cazzesman

I wanted to utter the similar words to the row in front of us.

But I probably could have brought it forward to next Tuesday

It still hurts.

I've had some horrible news in the last few weeks with extended family so I know there are worse things in life.

But this is the one thing that brings joy no matter what is happening in life so it feels like a dagger to the heart.

Like i said Veller….

it’s a disabled persons “exercise” at times…!

it’s hard to look forward to things…when
you can’t do things…!

no use me looking forward to a game of
golf…or a kick with my nephew…or take
the boat fishing…&#@$ i can’t even
look forward to going for a DRIVE…!

but i can look forward to the game on
the weekend…!

I’m not saying i look forward to it more
than anyone else here…because we’re
ALL nuts here…clearly…!

it’s just as someone who’s now classified
as…well i hate %#@&ING saying it…
ostensibly I’m disabled…!

physically…and now visually…!

hey…it’s better…at least i can do THIS
now…although it’s still tough…!

I’m basically a shut in these days…hey
don’t get me wrong…i have a beautiful home
and great friends…and feel quite blessed
really…!

but the mourning part is there…because like
you…that joy we get from the club playing
well and winning…?

well…there’s not much i can do these days
that gives me that same joy*…!

but when the opposite happens…well…
it’s tough finding a replacement…!

kindest regards tommi

* the things that bring me joy…

-my family…(i don’t have kids…but my sister does)
-jamming with my boys…
-my 30 year old hairdresser coming over
to cut my hair in her boob tube…!
