For this weekend:
Sydney should beat Saints
Freo should beat GWS

If:
Brisbane beat Melbourne and we beat Collingwood (or the Dogs lose) we play Melbourne again week 1.

Melbourne beat Brisbane and we beat Collingwood (or the Dogs lose) we play Brisbane at Gabba week 1.

Hawks win and we lose we are playing Freo at Optus week 1.

So:
Even if the Dogs lose we still need to beat Collingwood but we might also need the Bombers to beat Richmond so we potentially don't have to go to the Gabba.

The biggest issue I can see for this weekend is Collingwood need to win to make top 4.

The team needs to give it everything this weekend.

No changes for me, coaches need to show belief in the group on the weekend.

Pass me a Panadol.

No way I'd drop Stocker. He is made for the filthy scrap that this game is certain to be. Maybe he can pop Elliot's shoulder out with a well-timed bump. If he gets in trouble with the MRO, then no worries, I want Williams's finals experience in September anyway :D.

Collingwood has a damaging winger that needs to be nullified. I'd be happy for Cotters to reprise his Langdon role against Iron Lateralarse.

If we want to roll the dice with Williams, I'd have him as medisub, and fake an injury if things are looking bad. Let's face it, we probably won't need to fake it.

Is there no way we play Collingwood week 1?

And I believe Geelong are the only team assured of where they finish?

If GWS beat Freo or Essendon** beat Richmond it's a possibility

What if Carlton beats Carlton?

You're right on that.

The cut "required a procedure to close the wound that will take an extended period of time to heal.
At this stage he is expected to be unavailable for the remainder of the home-and-away season"

That was the report on 2nd August.

Game is on 21st August.

I guess I'm being hopeful that 22 days would be long enough to close the wound and ready to play. Could be the spot which makes things awkward.

I guess I should'nt get my hopes up.

I like Doc in tyhe middle and I would like Newnes AND LOB replaced. Stocker surprised me.

I wonder how he's been keeping fit. Pool I guess?

Pool hall?

Charlie needs to play his best game this year if he wants to win the Coleman.
He's only 3 in front of Cameron and they have West Coast at GMHBA.
I reckon they'll be feeding him the goals too.

I just as much assume he misses Coleman and Blues miss finals.

That's the way I believe they will go.

1. Because Williams is a straight swap & Stocker hasn't the engine to go anywhere else. I think Voss wants more run from defence especially with Doc in the middle that's why he is considering the risk
2. Newnes is a hard mature body that can play several roles. For his mistakes Saturday night he has a real crack

If Williams & Cerra are fit, Newnes O'Brien Stocker maybe Motlop are the ones under pressure to hold their spots

I'm hoping the opposite.
How much more motivation does a forward need, two major achievements in one game.

Yes but it's a team game

OK so look say Cameron kicks 6, I mean it is a real possibility (he could kick more even)

Then Charlie needs 3 to tie

And remember Pies are hard to score against

The only thing I will say is, Charlie has had 3 lean weeks (2,2,1) so he is due a bit of a bag

And the club are due a win

Maybe we win and Charlie snags 3 and ties for the Coleman or wins it by a whisker

Update on 9th said Williams was back in the full training program & aim to be available for Round 23.

Honey is expected to be available.

Cuningham is back in the skills session may rise from the ashes to play in the 2s if they make the finals.

Exactly what I was thinking.
He needs to just dominate and try and destroy his defender.
And actually kick the damn goals too.
1.4 isn't a great return for someone with his skill set and talent.

Surely you don't bring a guy back for his first game in 18 months for an elimination final.

VFL team are 8th and need to win to make the finals also.

I don't think playing Williams as the injury sub helps his preparation for finals - especially if there's no game next week for the 2s. He's either fit enough to play a full game (and history says that's unlikely), or he plays a full game in the twos.

Williams wouldn't know what its like to play fit . Lacked fitness and match practise since he came into the joint so in his case its business as usual .
