Watched the game from Level 4 right behind the goals. Never sat there before. It’s not as bad as some have said re nose bleed
I haven’t watched the replay and I don’t think it will change my mind but I will before I conclude.
What I can say is we will learn more from that game than any other. And, what we learn will set us up well for next year let alone Finals.
There were players selected who were not fit.
The body size difference really stood out, and that’s from years of training and preseasons. With those years under their belts the Cats looked like they were up for the fight and backed their experience to set up and applied pressure like never before. We succumbed to Saints pressure in the first, ditto Pies. We don’t like pressure.
Reminded me of 1995 except the tables were turned on us. The old hardened bodies with ample experience with youthful speed on the outside got the job done.
We were intimidated and didn’t know how to play Finals Footy.
With them getting the rub of the green with the umpires, and the footy gods gave them the bounce of the ball, we did ok to get within 5 goals, especially when our defenders didn’t respect their opponents, and played 10 metres too far from their opponents to contest a high ball, and half our players were out of sorts.
I think we can still beat the Cats and anyone if we go out there with the eye of the Tiger.
Add a fit and firing Pitto, Gov, Williams, Boyd, and Martin and we will be a threat to anyone. I trust Voss will learn from the outing and teach the teachable what to do the next time.
Great hit out. We showed some good signs, we butchered the ball.
