That's one of the best things I've ever read on this site.

A mate of mine has wondered how I would cope if my son was drafted to say Essendon*. Answer - not very well!

The same mate used to work with Matthew Lloyds old man (who many would know played for Carlton) and always wanted to ask him if it made him feel sick sitting amongst the Essendon* faithful each week.

To get back on the thread - I wouldn't want to change the jumper. If the jumpers the same, we are probably still in Melbourne and probably singing about Old Dark Navy Blues.

The only thing I want changed is this lull. I want it to be September-time again for the Carlton Football Club. Let me sing and swoon and swear and croon again...C'MON YOU BAGGERS!

Never ever change a culture capable of producing a post like this.

Thanks, DOA. We love you. And we love your son.

Well said Pat's, and DOA of course. 8)

Hey, CK we'd get to keep the CFC if we relocated to Canberra too. :P

I think the one thing to keep would be the notches, naturally, on the CFC/navy jumper. I could probably deal with a merger, relocation, any of those things if the main part of the club's identity was kept. Mind some of these thoughts are pretty horrible.

For me it would be the theme song.

Nothing stirs the cockels of my heart like belting out the theme song.

And camel boy - I would sell my soul to have the blues come to Canberra, sadly I can't see it happening in our lifetime.

Its nice to dream though.....

Imagine Carlton running around the biggest oval in Australia - Manuka Oval. Sheesh I would almost kill to see that!!

I reckon in your position, I'd have prefered a more sensible fan base

Thanks for your answers guys. I should confess at this point that I AM Ian Collins, and as of 2007 the team you love will be known as:

The Carolina Blue Water Falcons, wearing a top notch Navy blue jumper with white CFC monogram, with a theme song written by James Taylor that goes:

"Da de da de da de da de da ba-dup dup
In my mind I'm going to Carolina
To see the old dark blue water falcons"

If it can only be one..Theme song says it all.....

Keep the Theme, have to keep the CArlton name, in CArlton and be the Old Dark Navy Blues..

DOA....brought a tear to my eye!

Best post ever!!

oh, and I would never change the jumper. Navy blue, white monogram. The monogram can morph occasionally, just as long as we are the navy blues!!

Carlton Blues. If we merged I'd seriously consider changing clubs.

Things would have to change drastically for me to ever stop supporting the Blues. 4-5 of the important things that have been mentioned would have to change for me to even contemplate it.

The most important thing would be the colours. I don't mind if we add a 3rd colour as long as the Navy Blue and White remain on the jumper at all times.

Judging by the other thread I think you may have started!

And what an incredible feeling it must be!

I'm bloody proud that you're bloody proud!

Your son wearing the CFC Navy Blue guernsey!

It just doesn't come any better than that!
