Plowman on Reiwoldt will happen...I can't see a lot else we can do given Durdin & Kemp aren't at that level yet. And in fairness to Plowman, he's been in career best form the last month or so

Unless we put JSOS into defence for a bit on Reiwoldt?

Geez I was hoping Lynch wouldn't get up for this game

JSOS is too important to our forward structure and transition plays. when we were cutting through essendumb JSOS was integral to the linkups though the middle. he goes under the radar a bit with Charlie and Harry so dominant in the F50.

I reckon Durdin gets selected. I saw the VFL last weekend and while he got beaten a couple times one on one outside of these moments I thought he actually looked the part. The issue will be whether Lynch kicks 2 or 6.

Whoever our defence coach is will earn his crust this week trying to think of strategies to mitigate any potential for excess damage. Remember we have Doc who can Marshall the backs on field.

I also think keep an eye out for Newman to maybe take on greater responsibility. Cometh the hour...

I mean what's a few cms here and there? This will come down to strategies both team and individual, and belief in the person and the mids and forwards and rucks doing their bit to help the backs and being smart and switched on and team orientated down back.

Charlie was still warming up last time we played them. Hopefully he and Harry can create enough carnage to compensate for our defensive weaknesses.

The NFL mentality is needed now. In the NFL they view team almost a bit differently to AFL. If one side of the ball is struggling the other side knows they need to step up. So our forwards need to deliver in spades the next few weeks.

Yes, Charlie and Harry only kicked one between them last time.

Whoever is the more defensively minded of Setterfield or Hayes needs to play. Our wings are going to need to help out big time.

Setterfield’s height could give him an advantage too (although I can’t remember what he’s like overhead)

Durdin in which is great for him. Young will take Lynch and Durdin probably Jack or resting ruck.

I think Setterfield will replace Cerra. Played inside mid more on weekend which I reckon is his role and was very good. Dow & Hayes other possibles.

When can we have some luck with injuries??

Good luck to Durdin in his debut for the Bluebaggers.

I have yet to watch the whole CFL game, but if Setterfield played inside mid for 34 disposals, I would have him ahead of Dow with his 25.

From what I have seen of the last VFL game, Dow was same same, not really taking on the game nor the opponent, drawing them in, taking the tackle, freeing hands and passing to team mate in better position. A few possessions to no mans land....its still a disposal, but wouldn't cut it in AFL.

TBH, I find Dow and setterfield to be lazy AFL footballers, but they are ours and look to be improving. Good luck to whoever takes a spot in the ones. Maybe Cottrell is the one who replaces Cerra.

Great on both fronts.

Official Dustin not playing? If so, Lambert must come in, and he's a good player on the wide expanses of the G.

We can beat these prix.

Hayes....there's another one to consider.
He played wing on the weekend.

I feel we need a bit of pace on the outside with Cerra out. Maybe it is Dow for that, or Walsh in the guts and Cottrell on a wing.

One more sleep.

Personally I'd go Cottrell. He did well when he came on and deserves the opportunity.
As someone else mentioned, if a Dow or Setters comes in, there may be another change. Possibly LOB or Boyd.
Between Setters and Dow, I'd go Setters myself. Seems better defensively, more willing to tackle and more likely to stick a tackle.

Paddy Dow, Sam Durdin, Brodie Kemp, Will Setterfield & Lachie Fogarty are all part of Carlton’s Captain’s Run this morning

I'd go -

IN: Durdin, Kemp
OUT: Marchbank, Cerra

Cottrell stays as sub.

Walsh plays more inside. Fisher plays more wing. Kemp allows us a bit more flexibility.

My only concern with Durdin from watching some of the vfl last weekend is that he seemed to lack a bit of agility. He has good skills and is a strong mark and knows how to position himself, but he seemed a bit lumbering. Hopefully it’s just him picking up the pace and getting used to a new team and system.

I’d go with Durdin and Cotterel in for the two mandatory outs.

You'd imagine Durdin is set for Reiwoldt although I wouldn't be averse to putting Newman or Plowman on him.
I am hoping we have a forward set to mark Vlaustin to limit their drive from defence - perhaps give Martin the job of making him accountable for him?
