The Kansas have Goldy and Xerri. The latter won more hit outs last week.
Mirkov isn’t the answer. Not ready. With DeKoning and Silvangi at a minimum we will lose the hit outs
Horne-Francis , Davis-Uniacke and Simpkin are very good clearences. Thomas will be better for the run but North really struggle after that. Very thin on the ground
And the loss of McKay is huge for them unless his brother doesn’t come up.

Really this game isn’t an indicator on where we are at
That’s unless we lose.

Ah. A lose lose situation often referred to as the Keogh!

Having watched them all live I’d consider Teakle briefly and say no to all 3

We can't be reactive with the mid season draft options. LY we went with a ruck. They have to stay on the list the next year.

For me Mirkov is on our list - he plays. That's why we recruited him. At least give it a go.

You can't flog Silvagni for 3 months in second ruck role. It won't work and we need him down in the forward line (especially if Harry is also out).

I'm not expecting any support for this post.

I see your point B21, however my understanding is that you can offer players a 6 month or 18 month contract at the mid season draft. We offered Mirkov 18 months and Boyd 6 months last year but then we later extended Boyd for another year (and, incidentally, Mirkov for another 2 years). There’s no reason we couldn’t take a state league ruck on a 6 month contract to provide cover. If they aren’t any good or considered surplus to needs at the end of the season, we can cut them.

I agree with you. Was very happy we didn't make any knee jerk reactions after Jones retired. We invited a few players (2 of them key defenders) over the summer to train and then deemed none were suitable to be promoted. I believe both along with Josh Cripps are now on our VFL list and none have really stood out thus far this season thereby vindicating our decision.
Hope we do the same thing here. If there is no ruck suitable to help us not only in the immediate term but beyond that, let's not take one for the sake of it.
Mid season draft is about 6 weeks away. If all goes well with Pitto's rehab, he may only be 2-3 weeks away from resuming. Also, TDK may really step up in that period meaning we wont be as desperate for one.
Not to say that I wouldn't like another ruckman on our list, but if there is nobody suitable in 6 weeks, would rather look at national draft at end of the year for a long termer.

My brother said to me last night why don't we do a Mumford with Kreuzer and haul him out of retirement? Surely he's still in ok shape running around with our young rucks at training. That said, perhaps the exhumation costs would be too prohibitive if they come under the soft cap.

TDK is getting better but problem is he is too skinny still and gets monstered by the bigger ruckmen. Plus he needs to concentrate on the basics and mark the ball without trying to take speccies all the time. But he is definetley exciting, but his body is too slight with nearly all the competing ruckmen.

Why are our players so small in comparison to other teams?

I don’t think Andrew Russell has given the players the access code to the weights room.

Now that Harry Madden is out of politics maybe he has some spare time?

Draft Kreuzer in the mid season draft if TDK doesn't improve, or doesn't have a legit partner to give him a rest.

Andrew Russell, get working with Kreuzer.

As a short term solution, TDK and Young sharing and falling back when needed, with Kemp coming back in followed by O'Mack and/or McGovern.

We have Harry (hopefully), Charley, and JSOS, up front.
