I hope Kemp & Young both play as defenders in today’s VFL game. It’s the area of the ground where there’s currently an opportunity for someone to come into our AFL side and make it better.

First time in a long time, struggling to find who to drop to bring in both Jack M and Cerra.
Fog is the obvious one for Jack M. Unfortunately didn't grasp his opportunity with both hands and given competition for spots, he doesn't get a few weeks to pick up the tempo of AFL footy.
Second one is tough. LOB and Setter probably most under pressure a week ago but I thought Setters was ok in round 1 and he built on that last night. LOB had his best game of his career. Still got a bit to work on but did a lot right. Be plain stupid to drop him after that effort.
Owies applies good defensive pressure but hasn't really done much else. I am reluctant to mess with team balance, but he may be the other one to make way, meaning we're dropping a small forward for a mid. Not a like for like replacement. However, our mids have so far shown a great ability to apply defensive pressure and in round 1 in particular an ability to hit the scoreboard.
So assuming no injuries for me it is:
In: Jack M, Cerra
Out: Fog, Owies

Only other question is the O-Mac injury. If fit, I'd persist with him. If not, do we go for Lewis Young as he seems better equipped to handle the talls or stick with Plow?

Old Carlton would come out flat against a lesser team when the had a good win the week prior

Let's bury the old Carlton... the next step in our development

Agree with this.
Round 1 was a huge test for obvious reasons.
Last night was a huge test as we've had a history of let downs after big wins.
Next 2 weeks are equally huge tests given our history against lower sides we should beat.
As we all know in recent times, hawks have dominated us. They've not only beaten us on the scoreboard, they've not only thrashed us on the scoreboard, but they've beaten us up physically and mentally.
Time to totally smash these flowers!

Agree. Especially if McDonald's back is not right.

Martin in for Fogarty
Cerra in for LOB and Walsh to run the wing. It might have been LOB's best game but still too many poor decisions. He can practice that in the two's.

I don't get this "Walsh to the wing" idea.
The kid nearly won the brownlow playing in the guts last year. Came back last night 3 weeks earlier than expected and had 34 touches playing in the guts.
That is his position. That is where he plays. I'm aware we have other options such as Bam Bam, Cez and George (as well as Cripps obviously), but Walsh starts every week in the guts and plays there for the great majority of the game in my book.

And another thing, suggesting LOB get dropped on the back of last night is the very definition of ridiculous.
I'm not a huge fan of his, but he aint getting dropped.

Not sure of the team dynamics and the role of Setterfield and LOB.
Setters and LOB looked to be the wings, but I was told from someone at the ground that Kennedy and Walsh were waxing mid and wing roles.

Maybe we are playing a 5 man forward line and Kennedy or Walsh is the extra mid.

Who makes way for Cerra ?

Isn't this wonderful. Too many players and not enough positions.

Who would have thought.

Personally I would like Kemp and Dow given a chance but they are 2 among many.

Incredible that we’re struggling to find anyone to drop for Martin and Cerra and we still have Stocker, Marchbank, Cuningham, Honey to come back as well as Dow, Motlop, Carroll, Kemp, Philp pushing for selection

We need to win because winning needs to become our new habit and our new normal. It’s that simple. Our players should just expect to win.

I’m only expecting two changes, Fogherty for out and Young in for Oscar (if required). We shouldn’t mess with a winning team, Martin can resume in the VFL and demand a spot via performance.

If winning is that important then Martin plays. You pick your best team. If you’re dropping Fog for Cerra then Owies would have to go for Martin. I really like Owies but Jack Martin is a different class. He’s superior in pretty much every aspect of the game

Even if they classify it as high contact, which it wasn’t as he didn’t hit his head, I can’t see it given anything more than low impact, as he got up and took his kick. Worse case a fine I reckon.

yeah I don't trust Michael Christian to come to any of those conclusions.

3 weeks it is then.

Walsh played mid/wing last year as well. It's part of his rotation.

Would Carra & Martin have been allowed to train in any capacity, or are they completely housebound for a week

Both would have been housebound.
Martin should be able to leave iso today and Cerra next Wednesday.
