Weirdo

He's a bogan like most in in the AFL, including the AFL Commissioners.

Its still one big boys club, and the older gen are finding out how to behave the hard way.

He has tarnished his brand, but moreso because the AFL Commissioners tried to help him by down playing the incident.

the ceo of the afl is a silver tail who fights against wind farms in the region of his aristocratic seat like the best true blue liberal “self made” with an inherited lifestyle. at uni blues he didn’t talk to bogans to often, on or off the field .

we need a coach like that but not him. saints supporters who know the game well hated him, considered him a drip. we need less X factor and more discipline, drilled systematic plays and understanding of footy patterns, accountability and on-field leadership. always have since the rot set in.

i still think these bad juju at blues on account of us drinking Matherson’s blood money. i know a guy who was a brilliant musician who suffered from depression (wrote most of a number one selling but never got writing credits and therefore income) who put his entire wage down a pokie before taking his own life. so many others like him, driver of domestic violence and finacial abuse of women and families. it’s some sick shit. coaches can’t wipe that slat clean in two seasons. no coach can.

Don't care what other supporters think. The guy can coach and if Riewoldt is anything to go by, he has most of the playing on group on board.

he’s a drip. he will bring discipline no question about that. crippa and the boys might not have as much fun at training. but he will also kill their spirit one day at a time. like the way the carlton have killed teague’s one thimble of tasteless poison in his lunch at a time until he’s being mocked and worse by a low flying boofhead like lyon in the national media.

If Milne had have zigged instead of zagged in that GF then those same saints supporters would have loved him.

same nick who likes modelling and photograph. yeah he’s a good judge! they make a good pair.

don’t care how much players like Lyon. parko was hated by at least one of carltons best players and another who played every game in 95 was sure parko hated him. but parko was a really good coach who took them all the way.

i’ll never forget seeing Lyon in a freo polo shirt fronting the media before any saints fans even knew he’d left. the guy has absolutely no class as proven by him white anting on national tv.

Only the players can change the culture. "Name" coaches have done nothing. Coach can only drive it from there if the players want to change.

We've upgraded some things with Lyon. We had 19 straight kicked against us last week, now we get someone who has 23 straight kicked against him in 2018. Who's 12 of his 17 10 goal losses came in his last 3 years. Will be right at home here....lol.

Just not into getting Lyon coming here. He's had success but a long time ago.

also lyon has lost more than 50% of the finals his teams played in. i’m not sure how that ranks compared to other “name” coaches, but below average i suspect.

It’s not to bad at 45%, one bounce of the ball would have him at 53% and a Premiership coach. Equal
With Sheedy and above Malthouse in 23rd spot all time.

Where it gets a bit sticky is that if Teague goes on next year its only a stay of execution really.

He either needs to go or be extended for a couple of years because hanging him out there next year will be a bit like Bolton's last year which we didn't see coming at the time.

Hes either saved his career by the bye or he's gone, and I just can't see us coming out and obliterating everyone one front of us next season as we have actually retired one of the blokes who fired almost every week this season.

My issue with both Clarkson and Lyon is that we simply don't have the players that support either game plan.

Clarkson loves left footers who can kick. We've got few of either.

Lyon prides himself on the contested footy side of things. Midfield depth just doesn't have the players who are going to turn into stoppage kings overnight, either physically or mentally. Could see Gibbons getting more minutes, but can't see Lachie O'Brien becoming the next Jude Bolton or Lenny Hayes. I don't think Paddy Dow is going to get himself physically ready in his sixth season to be able to repeatedly tackle to hurt for four quarters. Does Cripps have the want to become an elite two way runner and capable of addressing his defensive shortcomings this late in the piece?

By taking either, you're effectively committing to another 2 more off-seasons to get the pieces in place, or you're relying on either to suddenly reinvent themselves with a brand new style to accommodate the strengths of the list.

In which case, may as well stick with Teague.

What's the alternative?

By the sound of your post, any coach will need 2 years to add to the current lot, given the shortfalls of many of our young players.

Richmond's pre-season of 2017 showed you can make the necessary renovations, rather than bulldoze the house completely.

I'd rather go looking for our Prestia/Caddy/Nankervis and the appropriate coaching staff than not only spend 2-3 years redeveloping to suit either's style of play AND farming out the guys that don't meet needs at an appropriate value.

It's an underrated aspect of the Malthouse era that we're probably going to repeat here - Garlett/Robinson/Waite/Betts etc leaving for next to nothing because they didn't suit Malthouse's style.

Show me where our 3 elimination finals prior to this year are if we are comparing it to Richmond.
Stop comparing us to Richmond it's totally different.

Seems like a race in 3
Lyon who was sacked
Clarkson who has been sacked
Teague who is about to be sacked.

Others on the fringe
Pyke sacked
Voss sacked
Leppa sacked
Scott sacked

I don't know why Teague is so upset it appears you have not made it until you have been sacked

Is there anyone other than Clarkson who is strong enough and would enjoy taking on our board if he found them wanting?

If we’re looking for top to bottom cultural change at the club I’m not sure there’s anyone else out there with that capacity.

The little prick loves a scrap.

Just ask Jeff.

PS. If winning a flag is as simple has having an internal review and loading up on assistants, why don't all clubs do it?. Rich, Geel and Melb situations have nothing to do with our situation...all three clubs had played finals prior and were still considered underachievers...hence their review...they considered that their coaches had shown some body of work to support them...
Hell...DTs body of work is to have us lose to the 16th, 17th and 18th teams on the ladder this year

Don't think he will have to take on the board . They will cower down to him like mangy dogs . He will have them eating out of the palm of his hands . Putty in his palm .

Combination of the talent pool in coaching being so paper-thin, and that the successful coaching teams have been the sum of all parts working cohesively together, rather than just "yeah this guy was a retired champion, and if he played for us even better"?

Relevance of the review can vary from realising organisational structure failures are the issue, rather than the talent itself I suppose.

I just want to add that this club is still Carlton and the greatest club to represent the VFL/AFL. Don’t forget that people.
