The midfield isn't great, I think we all acknowledge this.
But our failings extend way beyond the midfield.

Our players are consistently allowing the opposition to run free with extra numbers once they get their hands on the ball down back. And from there they waltz the football forward and score under little to no pressure. The ease with which opposition teams move the ball against us is mind blowing.

Our players seem to be all at sea. They have no idea what they are doing and no plan to stop the flow of ball the other way. While a mediocre midfield plays a role in this, the main issue is the lack of game plan and defensive mechanisms.

Given we have a mediocre midfield Teague would have been far better implementing a more defence oriented game style, that way we would likely have been in contests more often and the players would likely be less distraught as things wouldn't have gone so pear shaped so often.

Duh - one hand you say midfield isnt great then on the other hand you say opposition players are running free... like duh.

If we cant win the ball in the middle and butcher the ball against top four sides you're gonna get spanked.

Defensive game plan is not going to win us flags....Richmond and now Melbourne are playing attacking football and is the type you need to play to wiin flags.

Geelong plays vanilla typical football and Melbourne will maul them. Teague needs to drill a side thats always out there to win.

So if Melbourne are playing Richmonds brand of football, doesn't that make them behind the curve?
I'm so confused....

Yes you are,

All jokes aside, Walsh, can I ask you, in what areas do you feel our coach could potentially improve?

Listening less to idiots about defensive football and sticking to his guns and drill a team to his brand and beliefs.

To win flags you need to be ahead of the curve.... all past curves are done and dusted and they're not coming back. Teague has given an insight to what he thinks will play finals in future and he needs to stick to it.

The lack of football people on the board is alarming.... there isn't any - they are all business nuffies. If these nuffies say play more defensive or else then Teague should have the courage to tell them to GAGF.

Just to clarify this.
Which teams in the top 8 are you saying are ahead of the curve?
And if Teague is ahead of the curve why is he using a game plan that was used in Adelaide circa 2017?

It wasn't used by Adelaide - he wasn't the head coach. He uses the list to his strengths on the acknowledgement the midfield is weak. Get it fast to key marking targets up forward. Seems that Harry loved it.

Oh....you mean like bombing it forward.
Like we have been for 5 plus years......it's genius.
I can't believe other teams haven't cottoned on yet.

Ahhh.....so instead Teague has out smarted the competition by playing key forwards up the ground so they don't threaten the goals at all.
Clever, clever that one, it's a real 5d chess move.

I don't think we should talk about Bolton.
This thread is about Teague, not Bolton.
And talking Bolton only acts to divert attention.

Teague was assistant coach under Bolton for one year... he came in the 2018 pre season. Sure got Charlie firing - I guess thats why they are close.

Walsh is like a tick on this, so burrowed in.

Regardless, the Teague plant himself has received a spray of weed killer - the results will be seen this week or next

Really disappointing from the club that a public announcement will not be made about DT coaching his final game this weekend.

Maybe Walshy is actually Sam Walsh.
They definitely have the same amount of stamina and tenacity.

Watch this space: We understand David Teague has been told he won't be coaching Carlton in 2022 and that Ross Lyon has been offered and taken the job.
