This wasn't the west coast game all over again.

In that game, the Eagles were undermanned with a 2nd string side.

They relied on system and effort and beat us.

Yesterday we were undermanned with a 2nd string side. We had no system and our effort was shit against the bottom side.

It was wayyyyy worse.

WTF ???
Imagine being Honey, Ransey, Kemp or even LOB hearing that while your fully fit and in some form playing full games at the lower level.
This just makes a mockery of what David has been saying ALL YEAR !!!!
He has every week mentioned how players need to earn there games and be in form, fit and ready to play.
So Murphy hasn't played for a month then he acknowledges that Murphy isn't fit enough but they make him sub.
This is the CULTURE that David built.
A CULTURE of no selection integrity
A CULTURE of no accountability on senior players.
A CULTURE of rewarding weak on field efforts
A CULTURE of being nice footballers
A CULTURE of gifting games to players
A CULTURE of no defensive structure
A CULTURE of rolling over when teams come at us
A CULTURE of playing injured senior players ahead of fully fit kids
A CULTURE of NOT rewarding kids with form at lower levels
A CULTURE of compromised team selection
A CULTURE of selfishness

We are a weak , selfish , unaccountable, compromised, nice football club.

This is the club David has failed to change .

Edited for accuracy

This is the club David has built so far.

Agree with most of the above, except I don't think Teague getting the boot would change any of it.

These are simply the attributes of the club as a whole.

Teague should be replaced as soon as practically possible. Carlton under Teague have no idea how to defend. He's had ample time to stop the bleeding. Time to move on.

And just a reminder to all , we lost to a team who lost by 25 goals only 10 rounds ago !!

And they kicked a untouchable 7.2 yesterday in the 3rd qtr

I wouldn’t care if the replaced him with Stanton , Amos or power today

I can’t handle anymore lockdowns and hearing Teague talk about belief in this group

He is dictator Dan like , absolutely makes no sense at all

Weird logic given a player can realistically get subbed off in the first 10 min of the game.

I don't know if Teague is the right guy or not but what i do know is this shit started way before Teague got here.
I definitely don't think you can pin the culture on him. This stuff starts at the top and is embedded in your every day habits, processes, beliefs etc.

I think we were all on board with the rebuild & that it needed to happen because the list was terrible in circa 2015.

This may be all hindsight but to me what was fundamentally wrong with the whole process is that we forgot the part where we play this @#$%&! game to win! Our mantra should always be about winning - why else are we here? Instead we got given a message post Bolton's appointment that sounded something like "we won't be defined by wins and losses". We were conditioned to get excited by a passage of play, or a good mark, @#$%&! green shoots and honorable losses. I don't know about anyone else but if I am a Weitering, McKay, Dow, SPS, Fisher, Curnow etc etc and I am coming into a professional organisation, all I am hearing is "don't worry about winning, just develop a little bit and eventually we'll get there". Once that's in my head the pressure is off baby. I can get paid very good money to deliver pretty much @#$%&! all - club has told me as much. Sure at some point the pressure will come as it is now, but how hard will it be to change that mindset? To alter the culture ?

Based on the current state of play much harder than they'd like it to be I would say. Going to take some serious leadership to turn it around. Who will do that?

Absolutely agree with that , this embedded way before he came to coach but he did play under this culture also years ago and won a b and f , under this losing culture !! So he knew what he was signing on for ,

He should just fall on his sword today and not wait another 4 weeks and take Murphy with him

Good post. Reckon the years pre 2019 lowered the bar so low that it actually became a tavern in Hades (#facebooktaggroup)

This meant that when we did improve a bit under Teague the club, & indeed we as supporters, got our jollies so much from the slight turnaround that we got pretty enamoured with him. When really, he should only really have become a dead cert for the job if we'd won almost all our remaining games that year by 6 goals +.

Teague did not create this culture no, but he is not a strong enough personality to change the culture, which is what we need.

He is also completely strategically inept

I’d love to know (or should that be hate!?) how many posts it takes on this forum before action is taken at this club.

Be brave in debate, Carlton and make a stand on the coach, and the footy manager. Our CEO was very keen to get DT as head coach I think, so despite his individual heroics in obtaining 80000 members, he probably should walk too.

Any chance of a board spill?

BJ to be honest if the club paid any attention to what was on this forum I would be very concerned.

Unfortunately it has taken 6 years for the penny to drop. Those early draftees have walked into an environment where losing was acceptable and it has stifled both their mental and game development. Time you can’t get back.

I much preferred the ruthless Carlton where standards were a non negotiable

Instead we became this club that wanted to appease the AFL, skirted around making hard football decisions and became a meek member of the AFL.

Well we should feel that in this day and age of open access, that supporters ARE heard, if not here then via other media outlets.

FYI, I was on 3AW a couple of months back putting forward my views on Carlton to Ricoh, Healy, Shaw and Lethal and they backed in the coach, the day later Lethal then comes out and says, indirectly, that DT should walk.

Again...Carlton are spineless. How’s the saying go?...too many cooks spoil the broth. Appoint someone to make the difficult decisions, so that in years gone, that person can be acknowledged as either being the person that changed this club for the better or not.

I remember Malthouse in one of his pressers with Carlton saying he is willing to cop the full brunt of criticism/ownership on the actions/performances of the team. We need sometime now to come out and say this.

If not, we will continue to be mediocre.

We have to put up with only Teague getting the sack in 4 weeks ... for 20 years of misery

It’s almost as if the club are scared to admit how bad things are, or have yet to come to terms with it.

A proud club perhaps?

Time to bury your pride and own up to its faults.
