Hold onto your hats - I feel the need for speed

On paper this looks the quickest side I have ever seen Carlton field

4 draws.

I remember as a kid, reading the match previews every week in the paper, and taking pride in the fact that Carlton led every one of their head-to-heads. I left Melbourne in '92, so I'm assuming we are behind on quite a few these days, especially since nationalisation.

Interesting note from the Making Their Mark documentary; In the lead up to our clash with West Coast last season Adam Simpson says of us "They're up for the contest, but not the fight".

Hopefully they're up for both tonight. (And the inclusion of a fairly aggressive player like Williams makes me feel they will be.)

Need to just get the job done tonight. Get the W and move to 1-1.
We’ve got the team in to win it.
No excuses

Huge job for Plowman tonight. I'd suggest he will get DeGoey who is their X factor player.
I'd also play Saad on Josh Thomas. He enjoys playing against us.

Anyone likely to get a spare Eddie Betts bobblehead tonight? Keen collector of these but unable to go due to work.

Happy to pay for postage plus a bit extra or swap for a spare from previous bobbleheads.

He should have at least been part of our Peter Dean Father/Son Academy- even though his dad didn’t get play enough games for him to be a father/son selection.

I don’t think Lachlan was ever on our radar.

He went at pick 64, I am sure we could have traded back into the draft at that stage.

Collingwood only offered us pick 74 for OBrien

Should have taken it !

Happy Bicentenary to all Greeks today: 200 years of Independence since their victory over the Turks.

What a great day for Carlton to show its support for its huge number of supporters of Greek heritage, with a victory over the old foes.

Lets get that 128th victory over the Filth tonight, and celebrate !!

What about all the Greek collingwood supporters though?

They need to go a get washed and have a good think about the failures of their team, how life would be better barracking for Tom Daics' team, Carlton, and importantly for them, the emancipation of the Greeks 200 years ago....its better than going around in circles over the same ground whether Buckley should be sacked now or at season's end which only ends in misery, when they could have a smile on their face.

Unfortunately, the Most important consideration in determining the outcome of tonight's game is the Umpire.

Eg. If its Umpire No.22 Naiffan Williamson, then bet against us because his bias against Carlton is blatant and sickening, so expect the worst of the worst, or if its Umpire No. 34 Eleni Glouftsis, despite it being Greek Independence Day, fairness is not ion her vocabulary as her calls are regularly inconsistent and usually go against Carlton. Buyer beware.

The problem with some Umpires, in particular the abovementioned is that they do influence the outcomes of games with their bias against Carlton. I can't remember a game we have won with those umpires, and if we did, its probably because we played out of our skins and nothing could stop us, or the other 2 umpires didn't join them and officiated properly, giving Carlton a fair go.

Anyone know the umpires for tonight? I'm feeling sick thinking about it.

Umpires are Curtis Deboy (11), Andrew Stephens (12), David Harris (24). All grew up Collingwood supporters.

Is that true about being Collingwood supporters?

How do you know?

Why would the AFL do that to Carlton?

1) Rubbish. Do you honestly believe that umpires go out of their way to rule against Carlton??
I could possibly buy that they don’t like some individual players - but I don’t think we have any players nasty or who play for frees enough to warrant that attention.
2) If you are correct, then we simply need to play out of our skins to overcome the handicap.
3) I realise that you said ‘inconsistent’ but also ‘usually’ go against Carlton... I’d suggest that when we crack in hard, get to the ball first we will get more frees than the other team.

NO excuses. We have all the tools and depth to beat this mob. The only thing that stands in our way is our mindset.
I remember back when I was a lad, we might not have the best team, but we believed we could win every game, we bust our guts to do so, and we did more often than not came out on top. Do that!

Why would Grundy be doubtful for tonight?

The rain stopped earlier today inMelbourne, and I was told that its still clear so the ground should be dry for tonights first bounce.

Nothing on BOM about rain in the evening. North wester ...

If Grundy doesn't play....Mason Cox to ruck? He can't run.

Cameron Darcy is named Energency...he would have to come in and wax with Cox.

Maybe just a rumour on SEN

Am I the first Carlton supporter you've heard suggest Umpire No 22 is hard core bias against Carlton in every game he's umpired?

...and in the most recent preseason game he was back to his blatant best against Carlton. It was embarrassing to watch.

Eleni comes a close 2nd.

Yes! I do honestly believe it based on what I have witnessed from No 22, and haven't been swayed by what nearly every other Carlton supporter thinks of No. 22.

Eleni has been inconsistent and unfavourable towards us..
