Lance was flying during the Wizard Cup last year and that was March it's only January. Hate to say it but seen it all before. Can his mind and his body stay on the task. History says no.

For a couple of 1st round picks or someone like Chris Judd yes, but there's no sense in trading him for nothing (No Synbad et al, I don't want your stock 5000 word rant on why it actually would have made sense)

Anyhow, back to Lance.I mentioned Lance IMHO has in fact lost weight to the point where he looks underwieght, He looked skinny to me.What is his current wieght ? I reckon he is about 3kg under what he should be.

The way they gauge Lance is when Lance is under 100kgs and over 100kgs Mick.
When he is under he runs around , competes in the tap outs etc.. when he is over he does nothing.

The main thing with Lance is does he have the mental application to do it for a whole season.?

Synbad and Ockham - I have PMs from you guys last year saying you'd lay off each other... I don't care who started it, now go to your rooms and think about what you've done.

I would have traded him for Melbournes first pick and a player....that was the rumoured offer and I would have jumped at it.....may have used that pick on Courtney Dempsey to give us some run and flair...
I think we have several players who can be tried and groomed at CHF with Kennedy, Hartlett and Setanta the contenders..

I still cant see where we are playing Lance and what plan he can be incorporated into to keep pace wit the modern game which is more and more based around non stop action and pace...its fine signing him up for $400k a year but I have yet to hear a valid argument about where we intend to play him and in what role...seems like we signed him because we didnt have the courage to trade him....not because we have a defined role for him...if anything we are now have the problem where to play him and have to justify keeping him....dont give me that Wizard cup form guide thing either...Wizard cup equates to 20/20 cricket as a form guide....

Yesterday I had a brief chat with Lance after training, and he looked in excellent shape.

Do I think he should've been traded? Probably, but I look forward to him proving me wrong, and I think he might play in the backline more than forward.

Look, Boeing 747-400ER's weigh over 400 tons and can fly...

Lance only weighs 100 or so kilograms...

Yes - only if it were true that Melbourne were willing to give up pick #12 for him.

I probably would have traded him. With the Demons pick 12, we could have picked someone like Shannon Hurn who could have played straight away for us.... and if we could have shaken down a 2nd rounder as well, we might have got a player like Ben McKinlay, who is an explosive forward with reasonable height, who could probably have been groomed as a backpocket to play on the Phillip Materas of the world (or guys actually still playing).

All the talk of what we should have traded Lance for is alice in wonderland stuff. The fact is he has been on the trading table for 2 years now and no-one has offered anything of note. Melbourne's pick 12 + Brad Green was a Big Footy invention and there's no evidence to suggest Melbourne offered anything more than a 2nd rounder. The best offer was from St Kilda in the post 2004 trade period when they offered us pick 20 + Leigh Montagna ... how they could fit him into the salary cap, I have no idea.

Let's face it - he has ZERO currency in the current market dominated by an obsession with youth and athleticism. It's now up to the coaching staff to somehow harness his undoubted talent and come up with a game plan which will complement Lance, Fev, Fisher and Waite.
